Stopped here on a Friday night looking to play some table roulette while in town. On a FRIDAY night there was no live roulette. FRIDAY NIGHT. I like the look, security was nice, but if on a FRIDAY NIGHT you have the only roulette table shuttered - you get a one-star. Too many other casino options to waste your time here.

We stopped in on a whim last night for a late night drink and to try our luck. This was our first time stopping in the casino after the renovation. It was a bit underwhelming. The building itself is gorgeous, but the casino floor still felt a bit dated. The seating was chipped throughout and the floor consisted of mostly slot machines. The tiki bar had great service and the drinks were good.

My husband and I have gone to this casino when it originally opened and have always been treated very good. Since the virus has changed some procedures we have complied as asked however the staff have become bullies and are extremely rude. According to them we weren't wearing our mask correctly and were asked in a very threatening manner to leave which we were already doing. We snapped many pictures of others not wearing a mask correctly or some not at all. Apparently if you don't smoke you get bullied about mask wearing or so that's what happened to us.

I absolutely love how as long as a boat is in a body of water then gambling is legal. Luckily, the boyfriend and I were talking about getting our gamble on and next thing you know we see a riverboat casino (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/L8McLIuhgmkFEeoMiAwMWA?select=rQ5nuNfXVdmZDK2mEX5xNw). Awesome. The place is pretty cheesy. They have tons of slots, but slots are not really my thing. They only had one $5 minimum blackjack table, which seemed odd. The people of this town can't all possibly spend $25 a hand, but who knows? Considering the tables were near empty on Labor Day weekend, they probably should have lowered all their tables. On a negative note, booze is not free. The boyfriend ordered a shot of Dewar's on the rock. When the waitress brought it, first we were surprised that it cost $6. That detail was forgotten when my boyfriend scanned the tray for his drink. It was not there. He asked the waitress where it was and she pointed to a cup sitting next to the slot machine, which happened to look like the left overs of a someone else's drink. Then panic ensued. Could this be his drink? Apparently it was. He has since then recovered from his shock. I would have had a much better time if drinks were free and all the table limits were lower.

Sent me free play offers in the mail, went in to claim the $30 free play tonight and the kiosk said there wasn't any promos today.

Before arriving, I called the hotel to ask about early check-in. I was told that early check-in was available for a $25 fee and that the hotel was only about half full if that so there should be no problem getting a room. However, when I arrived that morning, I was told there were no rooms available. What made the situation even more frustrating was that while I stepped away to use the restroom, one of the people traveling with me was able to check into a room immediately with no issues at all. No one could explain why I was denied a room while someone in my group was accommodated without hesitation. When I tried to get answers, I was met with disrespect instead of customer service. The employee who checked me in wasn't even wearing a name tag, and the employee assisting her, Deb, was one of the most unprofessional customer service representatives I have ever encountered. Rather than trying to resolve the issue, they were dismissive, rude, and made me feel like I was an inconvenience. After multiple trips back to the front desk and repeated complaints, I was finally given a room. Unfortunately, the room itself was just as disappointing. The property felt run-down, poorly maintained, and not particularly clean. It certainly did not live up to the standards I expected from a Boyd Gaming property. The problems continued at checkout. Around 4:10 a.m. July 14, I went to the front desk to check out before work, but there was no employee present for at least 10 to 15 minutes. After waiting as long as I could, I had no choice but to leave without checking out because I was going to be late for work. Later that morning, after I received my checkout email, I noticed additional charges on my card and called the front desk. The employee who identified herself as Joyce was just as unprofessional as the staff I dealt with the day before. When I explained that no one had been at the front desk during checkout, she argued with me and insisted someone had been there the entire time, which simply was not true. When I asked about the additional charges, she became argumentative again instead of helping resolve the issue. I requested to speak with a supervisor, but Joyce told me there was no one else available and that I could only deal with her. After insisting that I wanted to speak with a manager, she transferred me to security. The security employee refused to give me his name, laughed when I requested a supervisor, and told me that although a supervisor was on duty, he was choosing not to put them on the phone. I have never experienced such disrespectful and dismissive treatment from hotel staff. I chose to stay at Ameristar because I expected quality accommodations and professional customer service from a Boyd Gaming property. Instead, I was treated with disrespect from beginning to end. I came to enjoy a relaxing getaway, spend money at your property, and have a good time. Instead, I left feeling frustrated, insulted, and completely unappreciated as a customer. Because of this experience, I will never stay at another Boyd Gaming property, and I cannot recommend Ameristar Hotel Casino Kansas City to anyone. I sincerely hope management investigates how guests are being treated and takes meaningful steps to improve customer service, accountability, and the overall guest experience.

Check in was at 4pm we arrived around 4:30pm there was no line and check in was a breeze. They do charge a $75 deposit if you use a credit card and $100 deposit if you use a debit card and I believe that is per night just so you're aware most hotels do that nowadays. We stayed on the 3rd floor of the Las Vegas tower and the room was amazing very clean and new, the bathroom was amazing a large soaking tub and standing glass shower nice big space, the room was spacious. This was a planned night out that we were genuinely excited about. My husband was removed from the venue for "swaying" a few times on the dance floor. That was it. No aggression, no disruption, no intoxicated behavior, no confrontation. He has severe knee issues and was simply shifting his weight while standing and enjoying the music. Instead of checking in or handling the situation with any kind of discretion or compassion, security immediately escalated it and kicked us out entirely. It was humiliating, unnecessary, and completely ruined our night. We lost our VIP experience, the show we traveled for, and the money spent on tickets and lodging. There was absolutely no attempt to understand the situation or treat us like paying customers. This could have been handled in a respectful way, but it was not. Unfortunately, we will not be returning, and I would caution others that security here seems overly aggressive and unwilling to use basic judgment. A night that was meant to be fun turned into an awful memory. Side note: We did not drive , we took uber to and from hotel. It was an expensive evening-RUINED! Also , I googled voodoo lounge after we got back to hotel and the aggressive behavior seems to be a trend of theirs. Something needs to change. We had a lady directly in front of us thrashing about and spilling her drink ALL OVER THE FLOOR and she was left alone. Made zero sense.

Let me tell you, I fell in love myself, and was totally hooked on The LRBC, within a few hours of stepping on the ship. The accommodations, food, staff are all wonderful. The cruise is always on Holland America's new ships. My cabin was fairly spacious with a lovely veranda. However, what really made the cruise were the people and the music! Music was going 24/7, and the talent was hot! I was able to dance my heart away day and night. Some nights I never went to bed. It was such an incredible experience, all that was needed was a few hours sleep here, a couple hours of sleep there. I made so many connections and friendships with fellow cruisers. There's quite a few cruisers and artists I've kept in close touch with, since coming off the ship in January. The vibe on the ship is warm, welcoming, and full of heart. I've already booked for January, 2026! One thing to note about booking is: it's almost impossible to get on the boat as a newcomer. The cabins are mostly booked out for the following year cruise, by the time you get off the boat. There are a few cabins that are left, after prior cruisers are done booking. If you want to get on the boat, make sure to sign up for email notifications on the LRCB web page. There will be an email sometime in late March/early April announcing cabins and waitlists to the public. If you get on your computer and refresh the bookings page right as it opens, or call right when the list opens, you may have a chance of getting a cabin, but if not, at least you'll be fairly high on the waitlist. 2025, #17

Also, you will utterly detest the almost 24-hour a day live Blues music that is on this ship - it is just too noisy with the likes of Johnny Winter, Taj Mahal, Dion DiMucci, Keb Mo, Magic Slim, Tommy Castro, etc., etc. And, you will definitely despise hanging out and parting for a week with these same performers into the wee small hours of the night. So for the love of Zeus, please please stay away from this Cruise - I'm begging you !
