I didn't realize this the first three times I've been to this store but now that I know I'm even…read moremore of a fan - Wild Lotus is a non-profit store where profits made go to both local and international communities in need. In particular they support children living in poverty in India, free food distribution to the needy, sponsoring free community based cultural events and promoting a holistic lifestyle of balance and wellbeing through educational programs. Wow. I loved it before because it has some very pretty stuff - gorgeous and original floaty silk dresses and long beads and silver earings that I haven't seen before. It's only a small shop but what they do sell is all quality stuff and now, I find out, sold in aid of socially conscious cause. What a delight.

Wild Lotus is part of the group of Lotus Pod stores dotted around the city (in Balmain,…read moreDarlinghurst, Surry Hills, Glebe and Woollahra) and while it's the smallest of them all, it adheres to the store's ethical concept that all profits made from sales are distributed towards communities in need. The store sells their own label, Alice Underground, which focuses on simple, feminine pieces like smock dresses, flowy printed skirts and oversized t-shirts - accordingly, a lot of the designs are one-size-fits-all so you can easily change how you wear them with belts or by using them with extra pieces of clothing. I used to come into this store a lot when I lived in the area, and pretty much always found something I liked - generally, this fell into the summery, beach cover-up category at a reasonable price. Last time I went the selection of stock was a bit random, but most likely they were just in between seasons.

It's a vintage shop located in the heart of Newtown on King Street . It has a very good collection…read moreof old as well second hand vintage products which take you back to a different era. Who said you can't get a Versace bag for less than 100$ or the genuine leather shoes. Yes you can at lemon and tea. They have some used stuff like designer branded handbags and used and restored shoes that you could wear to any couture occasion. I think it's a great place for students. Also have some amazing jewellery and funky frames. And this place teaches me a lesson that you don't have to spend a fortune to look and feel good. If we look closely we can surely find some fantastic things from Lemon and Tea which will turn out to be a winner. You just have to look.. By the way cool and friendly people in store as well.

This is really awesome store. I was wondering around from shop to shop to look for clothes and…read morebumped into this shop. Lucky me I saw this skirts rack inside this shop and they are very good quality designer skirts. They are so gorgeous - I wish I can 3 of them - end up buy 2 and save the last for later. They cost me $20 each and you wouldn't get this skirt with this price outside for sure with this quality. Even it's second-hand, it's really in a good nick - as it's new. Definitely will come back again to buy more from this shop. The owner is very friendly and she can do alteration if needed too with cheap price. Really recommended to come to see what's in this store. Will be back again to see their stock.

Fantastic finds that fall on the "bold and brash" side of the spectrum - this is not the place for…read moreunderstated pieces...but why would you want those anyway, when you could have an orange faux fur crop coat and a black leather blazer that's been structured to within an inch of its life (in all the best ways? Also a white lace minidress with lovely bell sleeves that was by a local fashion designer...and yes, these all came home with me. Shout-out to Natalie and Hazel who were both extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. One big gripe that may sound silly but it's a legit issue: they pack WAY too many items onto each rack. They are so tightly packed together that you honestly can't slide them apart to see a garment. I mean there is truly not even a tiny gap between the hangers; the hooks are hard-pressed together on the clothing rack bar. I've never seen this many garments shoved so tightly, even at a down-market thrift store. It made it so difficult to browse that I ended up skipping past big swaths of racks that I really wanted to look at but simply could not access. It was bizarre and extremely off-putting, which is a shame.. If I could have actually SEEN the clothes properly this place would get a full 5 stars. Dear shop owner: if you absolutely must put out this many items, just buy longer racks. There's space in your store to put in more racks, especially upstairs. You will sell MORE clothes when people can actually browse through them. Stop buying hangers and start buying racks!

In what can only be described as a mini recycled clothing hot spot, lies, amidst two charity shops,…read moreU-Turn Recycled Clothing. A slightly upmarket opportunity shop. Where as shops like St Vincent De Pauls, or Vinnies, as it is known, stock large amounts of everything, clothes thrown onto racks and boxes and boxes yet to be unpacked waiting patiently out the back. U-Turns is more sparing with the clothes that it sells. It's as though the clothes must first pass a series of tests before they are displayed in the shop and sold to the masses. Are they stylish? All the clothes available on the U-Turn Recycled Clothing racks are very hip and very apt, some faux fur formal wear for your first foray into furry fashion. Bold and brash cowboy boots with buckles and buffed leather finishes. A hat made of a mink that makes you think about the stink it would have caused to hunt said mink and taylor him into a hat. The prices reflect the classier appeal and display of the clothing and, while cheaper than most first hand clothing, is a little pricier than the shops next door. You could find, mixed amongst the trash and bland clothing in most thrift shops, a piece of treasure that would look so bold in your wardrobe, but to find that you would have to be lucky. Likewise it would be quite unlucky to find some trash in all the treasure at U-Turn.
