We had an absolutely perfect wedding, except for ballroom blitz. They did not play multiple songs off our "must play" list, including the song that started our relationship (which I was reassured would be played on a call with the business owner just 3 days before the wedding), our college friends' song (which we had reassured everyone would be played at our wedding because we knew it was on our must play list), and a special song we specially picked for a special moment with our international guests, who had flown all the way from Germany to be in Atlanta with us for our wedding. Our college friends all told us they were expecting the last song to be "our college song," because we had promised it would be played, only to have it not be played at all. To be clear, they missed 3 songs on our "must play" list that meant the world to us and our guests. We almost had the perfect wedding (every other vendor was absolutely amazing and perfect and wonderful), except for ballroom blitz. I will always look back at my wedding as an "almost perfect" instead of a perfect day because of them. I strongly regret hiring them for my wedding because of this. I wish everything could have been perfect, but one thing inevitably had to go wrong, and that one thing was ballroom blitz. read more

My husband and I needed some serious schooling before our wedding dance and not only did we leave looking like we knew what we were doing (that was far from the case before taking Ballroom Blitz) but Anthony was so awesome in choreographing our such an amazing dance number. My husband is much more of a beginner (not that I'm an expert) but this place is great because they can handle varying levels of dance experience. Seven weeks before our wedding, my fiance and I were still debating whether or not we should pull the first dance entirely and replace it with fire dancers for our destination wedding. We were not dancers and we dreaded the idea because we knew we sucked. That was until we met Anthony, comedian, dad and dance guru at Ballroom Blitz. Our goal was to learn a custom routine to go with our rare version of "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol. We came to him with the worse possible scenario. Five weeks, no experience and a first dance everyone was waiting for. Anthony said it was possible to do in 5 classes. I actually laughed on the inside when he said that. "You're kidding right?" I thought. "Did you just see what we did?" But Anthony pushed, made us laugh and pushed some more. Didn't believe it would happen, but it did. Up to lesson 3, we were still laughable, but the seeds of something great were starting to emerge. By the end of lesson 4, things began clicking for both of us. By the time we arrived for lesson 5, we didn't recognize ourselves anymore. We were fluid, romantic and in unison! I can't emphasize how miraculous this was--it's up there with unicorns and talking pandas. Anthony's gift is in his ability to make you instantly comfortable. He's encouraging, supportive and most importantly, pee-inducing hilarious. Without reservation, I can say that we instantly loved him like a long lost family member. With Anthony as a teacher, we discovered after lesson 1 that we loved dancing. We've never loved dancing, and we suddenly found ourselves LOVING dancing. It was exciting to discover that it really just takes a great teacher to change how you've always thought about yourself and your limitations. Loved it so much that we will be signing up for tango and salsa very soon. Needless to say, our first dance, that Anthony choreographed, to our song that he endlessly edited for us, didn't leave a dry eye in the house. Not only was it a hit for our guests, but a huge hit for us as a couple. It's true what people say about couples that dance together. When my fiance proposed, I knew that we needed to take dance lessons. My now husband is a very timid guy and it would definitely take a lot for him to be able to do our first dance as husband and wife. I live in Eagle Rock and have always heard wonderful things about Ballroom Blitz. The place is always packed when I drove by. I called Ballroom Blitz and spoke with Anthony about wedding dance lessons. He was very supportive and was able to help me narrow down a song that we could work with. During our first lesson, my husband was stiff and nervous. Anthony helped to get to know us and our interests/professions so that we could relate to what he was talking about. My husband and I just got married last night and we did the foxtrot as our first dance. We took group lessons with Susanna and 4 private lessons with Anthony. Susanna is super funny, smart and cerebral. To manipulate your body to move in a certain way requires the mind to understand what it's doing first. She's an excellent teacher and each dance class was so fun! Anthony was the perfect teacher for our private lessons. I would not be surprised if my husband was the worst dancer they had ever worked with. He just has no rhythm. At all! The fact that Anthony, in just 4 lessons was able to teach us a routine is amazing! We did a spin as we entered the dance floor, foxtrot hesitations, an inside turn, a dip, a "sweetheart" move and then he escorted me off the floor to our seats. When my wife and I were planning our wedding, we thought it would be nice to add a bit of flare to our first dance. What better way than get some professional training and when two friends told us how much fun they had at BB, then we were sold. As it turns out Anthony and Susannah are fantastic teachers! Went to Ballroom Blitz for dance lessons in the lead up to our wedding. We tried a few more high profile name dance studios in Pasadena but weren't happy with their structure. From the moment we called Ballroom Blitz and talked to Anthony we were so happy with the experience. BB is way more cost effective than any other dance studio we tried and we truly felt we were getting good value for money rather than being taken advantage of by the wedding packages offered by other studios. We had all our lessons with Anthony and he's fantastic. He taught us the fox trot and we loved every minute of it. He made the lessons fun, choreographed a great routine that perfectly fit our song, and made us feel confident throughout the process. My fiance and I were super busy before our wedding (we moved to LA from Chicago, he was studying for the Bar Exam, etc.) and with our wedding on August 18, we somehow got to August without taking our dance lessons for our first dance! Panicked, we called Anthony at Ballroom Blitz to set up a one-hour private dance lesson. I have been dancing for most of my life, but my fiance has never danced, and does not have a natural rhythm. Our first lesson with Anthony was hilarious, fun, and incredibly productive! I feel like we improved 100% after our first lesson, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Anthony is so welcoming and friendly, and he makes learning how to dance very accessible. He gives great metaphors for how each move should feel (he even made comparisons between dance moves and lifting weights after he found out my fiance loves to work out, which really helped!!), and he takes turns standing in for the man or woman when he wants to demonstrate something in particular. We really felt like we were going to be okay after we had our first lesson with him! We only had time to take one more lesson with Anthony before our wedding, but it worked out perfectly, and I think he prepared us beautifully. Everyone was impressed with our dance, and we had a blast. I would easily recommend Anthony to anyone who needs to learn how to dance in limited time, and anyone who has no dance experience. My boyfriend and I took adult 101 with Anthony and Susannah and we had a blast. Susannah runs the class and she breaks down the steps in a way that is easy for even total beginners to understand. I have 14 years of dance experience (while my boyfriend has none) and we both had a great time learning something new together! You do rotate partners throughout the class, so that's something you need to be comfortable with doing. They also teach private lessons for a WAY more reasonable price than places like Arthur Murray. Anthony is seriously amazing - me and my (now) husband went there for lessons for our first dance at our wedding. We took 4 classes, and even took our parents (my dad and my husband's mom) for one session the week before to rehearse our father/daughter mother/son dances. Anthony had a really wide range of talent so he could have choreographed our dances a million different ways, but instead he listened to us and what we wanted (I didn't want some over the top performance) and all three dances turned out amazing the day of the wedding. I received a certificate for Valentine's Day for a private lesson and finally put it to use. When we got there there was a group lesson, I think, finishing up. We were mesmerized at how relaxed and at home the "students" seemed. Can I just say this place is awesome! My boyfriend and I had so much fun! We took a private lesson with Anthony. My husband and I cannot recommend Anthony at Ballroom Blitz highly enough!! While we had a more simple, outdoorsy wedding on a farm in Vermont (this past August), my husband's family was flying in from England for the first time and we knew we wanted to something special for our first dance. We'd read great reviews about Anthony and were confident he'd make us look good, but he / our dance exceeded our expectations! Anthony is so personable and lighthearted - we laughed through all our lessons! - but also very professional and incredible at what he does. We ended up having 4-5 lessons for a fully choreographed dance, and we learned so much each time! He packs so much into one lesson, using various techniques that make it easy for newbies to understand; as one reviewer said, he used metaphors to help get the hang of various dance moves, and occasionally took one of our places to demonstrate how a move should look. He knows how to teach beginners in a way that's fun and not intimidating. We had so much fun learning our dance and practicing it at home, and it was so exciting to surprise everyone on our wedding day and see the looks on their faces! From start to finish (ending with the dip, of course!), it went off with a hoot and is one of our most special memories from our wedding day. Last November, I bought my Girlfriend a gift certificate to this place to see what ballroom dance would be like. After almost a full year, we've been through the 101, and 3 separate 201 sessions with weekly attendance. Susannah and Anthony are possibly our favorite part of the week at this point. They're both extremely patient, hard working, cheerful, hilarious, and capable instructors. They make a wonderful team, and clearly have a great community around their classes. Highly recommended if you're getting married and need to learn to dance quick, or you just want to learn. First I want to say, my husband and I are not the ballroom dancing type so we both agreed we ought to take a few dance lessons to impress the family during our first wedding dance.
