And, it's very, very busy. Pete has been tending to clientele at Zach's nearly six years. Prior to Zach's, he worked at a shop close to home. In town for biz and with some time to kill, I decided I needed a trim. And I wanted to visit whatever shop Pete was working. So, thanks to Yelpland, I saw reviews for Zach's, saw the name Pete and took a chance. Great haircut!!! Shore life definitely agrees with Pete and his family. This shop is great.

I asked her for just a quick cleanup of my hairline which was normally done by my currently out of town spouse. She told me that without an appointment she would not cut my hair, and besides she had a doctor's appointment and would be leaving soon. She said I could look "for a place near Walmart". I retired in the area 4 years ago and am baffled by just how short-sighted some small businesses can be. Due to her unwelcome treatment (the business is either open or it is not and nowhere on this Yelp site or on the exterior of the business does it state "By appointment only".) I will never return. Since hair care customers represent an ongoing flow of revenue I guess she has plenty of repeat business and treats folks as she did with no worries. She may have actually been leaving--so put a Closed sign on the door--and be a little gracious about it.

Today's visit was only because my normal shop had closed for the day before I was blue to get there. I came in with a warm greeting from both of the ladies working. Immediately afterwards the lady in the first chair starts going off on my old barber, telling her that she's not allowed to greet customers when they come through the door. My old barber obliged, then when someone else walked in, the first chair lady feet Ed the customer, and went off on my old barber again. At this point I was thinking "there is no way I'm sitting in that first chair". Then, out of nowhere she goes off a third time and pulled my old barber off of her current customer to yell at her in the back. I was blown away by her lack of professionalism, and decided that I was willing to wait until Monday to get my hair cut by my regular barber. I am sad that I didn't get to have a conversation with my old barber, and that she didn't get my tip money. I hope that she leaves this place and finds a less hostile working environment. I won't be back, even in a pinch. It's a shame because this shop is within walking distance from my house.
