Ananda Yoga Pilates & Wellness - Pilates Room

I haven't been to Ananda yoga and was looking to reviews to decide whether or not I should patronage, as a professional business who is looking to protect themselves from liability, they should and have the right to deny or accept your participation of practice. I have come to this conclusion that you are bullying this small business and you and your other 1 star wife have a poor basis to give them a 1/5 stars. If your wife being that she was pregnant a seasoned and experienced yoga instructor doesn't give her the right to have an exception, this is black or white. She should understand the liability involved of those who don't have the knowledge, background or training to do yoga, so fortunately she does, so why not do perinatal yoga on your own?? Better yet , with your wife's passion why not develop a perinatal yoga class to support your cause? Build up rather than break down. Ganging up on Ananda with yours and your wife's 1 star reviews, I find that targeting, ganging up on, disrespectful and misuse of yelp. I have no connection with Ananda again nor do I know the owners. I'm just a normal person looking at reviews and think that you and your wife have aggressively misused this services and should take one of your posts down to accurately reflect the one experience you are referencing. I'll be updating my post after I attend a class, 2 or 3. Respectfully, Jana

Hot Box Yoga

Hot Box Yoga

Okay, this studio gets it. Hot Box in El Paso is the real deal when it comes to hot classes -- no…read moregimmicks, no fluff, just pure fire (literally). I dropped in for a hot Pilates class, and from the moment I walked in, everyone was smiles, greetings, and genuine warmth. The vibe was welcoming, the energy was high, and the class? Next level. I've taken a lot of hot Pilates and yoga over the years, but never with a male instructor -- and wow, he absolutely delivered. From start to finish, the class was intentional, challenging, and perfectly balanced. We used bands, dumbbells, blocks, and towels -- everything was provided, which I love. The room was dark, the music was vibey (think transient EDM that keeps you in the zone), and the heat was real. This isn't infrared -- it's that old-school, steamy, humid heat that pushes you past your limits. Pro tip: hydrate hard 24-48 hours before you go. Bring a big water bottle (or two). I had to sit out part of the squat series because I started to feel lightheaded -- but the instructor immediately noticed, turned a fan on me, and checked in multiple times. That level of attentiveness is rare. He even handed out chilled, essential-oil-soaked towels at the end of class and pressed them gently on our eyes and temples while cueing deep breaths. All the senses were hit. There's no shower (well they've removed the knobs so you cannot access the shower , when I asked about the shower the owner explained how hard it would be to manage 1 shower and 2 classrooms full of folks wanting to use shower- which I totally get ), but there are three bathrooms -- two downstairs and one upstairs , plenty of places to change clothes after class-- plus a massive room & cubby area to drop your stuff so it never feels crowded. The studio itself is beautiful, with a bold mural at the front and such a great community vibe. A regular even helped me out mid-class -- total team energy. This is not a beginner-friendly class, and I mean that in the best way. It's intense, sweaty, and humbling -- exactly what you want when you sign up for something called Hot Box. I've practiced yoga for about 20 years all over the country, and this studio officially made my top three nationwide. The drop-in fee was $30, and it was worth every penny. My only regret? Not snagging that cute Hot Box sweater before class (front desk was empty afterward). Lesson learned: buy your swag before you get drenched. If you're looking for a studio that's tough, authentic, and packed with good vibes -- Hot Box is it. Come hydrated, come ready, and come to sweat.

She was able to get me a free trial while I am visiting here for Memorial Day weekend/to celebrate my nieces' birthdays. We came here three times already! Friday and today we took the classic class, with Erica Friday and Heather today. We took owner Salina's empower class on Saturday. The workout is very challenging but the instructors were motivating and corrected my wonky posture as needed. They seemed to know all clients' names and called out compliments to people by name throughout the class. The studio is spacious and clean. On Friday, we got free wine after the class! I also got free scented epsom salt as a newbie. I definitely was sore after each class! This is a nice community of women and a great addition to the area!

This studio offers three different classes: classic pure barre; empower (which is more of a cardio workout); and reform (which is more Pilates based and incorporates resistance tubes). I love all three classes. The regular barre class incorporates small movements where you use your own body weight as resistance and then you stretch intermittently throughout class. I've always loved fitness but Pure Barre is by far my favorite work out! Plus, the people at this studio are amazing! I can honestly say being at the barre is my happy place. If you are even the tiniest bit curious, check it out! Worst case scenario you will get an amazing workout. Best case scenario it will change your life! This studio, in my opinion, also boasts the best work out retail in the city! Check it out :)

I feel at home when I walk into Envie! The instructors are teachers at heart and will do nothing but support you and push you in the right ways. When I am struggling in class they will stand next to or sit by me to encourage me not to give up. This studio has helped me drop almost 70 pounds and most importantly find myself again. The virtual classes have been a life saver and have helped me manage the uncertainty during this pandemic. I love my studio and can not wait to see what the rest of 2020 brings!

Also slightly embarrassing is the fact that since it opened up in the plaza with Koze Teppan Grill and Café Italia, I've been getting a regular guilt trip from their sign every time I go to stuff my face with sushi or pizza. Nevertheless, I'm glad I finally got around to giving it a try. This gym is different from most I have seen in the past-- it's a female-only gym that is entirely class-based, with no equipment that you just go in and work out with whenever you feel like. Also, they center many of their classes around something called the MyZone. MyZone is basically a band that goes around your ribcage right near your bra strap. It tracks your heart rate, calories burned, "Effort Points," etc. Effort Points are basically a function of how high you get your heart rate and for how long. It's a whole thing, and there's an app, and I will admit, it's a bit confusing at first, but I will also say that, as of this morning, I've completed three classes with it and already have the hang of it. If you have any questions or hesitation, I would recommend you chat with the trainers on staff there-- they're super helpful in explaining what it's all about. I'll admit I was a little hesitant about joining this gym because the format is so different from anything I had tried before.... but honestly, after the three classes I've taken, I'm sold! I love the fact that your membership fee covers all the classes, with no extra fees. This means that you get a ton of one-on-one or almost-one-on-one time with the trainers for your base fee. At many other gyms I have seen, working with a trainer costs extra, and often costs a LOT more than it does here. The gym, from what I've seen, prides itself on an environment that is supportive, encouraging, challenging, and upbeat. All good things for a fitness studio, whether you are a newbie or a pro at working out! Other pros: - It's clean. Like I-don't-know-how-they-keep-it-this-clean CLEAN. - They run really nice specials on the cost of joining! To give you an idea, the MyZone tracker thingy usually runs about $100 (I'm 90% sure), but I got it for $50. Also, since I signed up after only two classes, instead of taking the full seven day trial that I could have, I only had to pay for the MyZone tracker, and not for the actual membership-- so I got October for only $50! Additionally, they locked me in at a discounted rate of $89 a month because I signed up during a promotion. So price-wise, it's a pretty nice deal. - I believe they even offer childcare by appointment if you have kids. So no more excuses that you can't join a gym because it isn't kid-friendly! - They have a ton of different classes: Zumba, Spinning, Boxing, HIIT, Barre, Yoga, Boot Camps and more! - They switch up their schedule so you don't get bored or have to take the same class over and over, because it's the only time slot that fits into your schedule. Also, they rework the class schedule every month to give even more variety. I'm looking forward to trying all the different classes that they have! Little Known Fact: Envie is an Australian Fitness gym! In speaking to some of the staff, I learned that it's actually quite popular over there, and is just getting started here in the States. So far there are only three U.S. locations, though they do have plans for more. How cool is it that they chose to open one of their three first studios right here in El Paso?! :D
