What a find! I know it's a chain, but our first experience was awesome. Very friendly counter staff, patiently describing the flavors and ingredients to these curious Americans. Not being noticeable offended when we chose not to order sandwiches and eat elsewhere (we did buy some snacks and bread to go). The bread was great, as was the superfrikandel (pastry wrapped sausage, it seems). We'll be watching for more of these stores around Netherlands. read more

A bakery close to the Dom (famous tower in Utrecht)…read more According to a local friend, the best bakery in town. Of course, I don't believe this until I give it a try. And yes, the apple pie was great. Too bad I could not try all the other cakes. I heard the tompouce is nice. I will definitely return again, and give the cheese cakes a try next time.
