Great bakery right near one of the largest Stave Chuches in Norway. Fantastic sandwiches and pastries on offer with a great view of the river. Hot tip: check out the upstairs washroom instead of waiting in line at the one downstairs for a car-themed surprise! read more

What acute local bakery. We stopped in this town with our tour group and we wandered into this delicious smelling Bakery. They're locals online ordering full loaves of bread and focaccia and literally everything looked so delicious. Since it was around lunch time we picked up one of the bakeries sandwiches and couldn't resist picking up a cinnamon buns and a raisin bread. The sandwich was full of fresh ingredients and was flavorful. The reason bread I ordered was so soft inside, exactly how I like my bread, it had the right hint of Raisin. The cinnamon bun was not overly spiced and we devoured everything up. Good prices too considering the area and Norway as a whole. read more

We stopped at this bakery for lunch, after viewing the famous Stave Church which is just a couple blocks away. The setting was amazing - the building sits right next to large, raging river rapids and you can watch it while you eat. We had a ham and cheese sandwich, which I later asked to have cut in half so as to share with DH - this request was quickly accommodated. The staff spoke fluent English. The sandwich was fresh and healthy - I would have preferred some added zest from mustard. Our traveling companions all spoke highly of their food. I used the upstairs bathroom and nearly jumped out of my skin when an automobile decoration made an unexpected start of an engine sound. Judging by the number of locals piling into the bakery, it is a popular place to buy lunch. read more

Might've just been the fresh fjord air, but this place GETS BAKING RIGHT. It's out of the way, but if you ever happen to find yourself in Lom (it _could_ happen, and I'd hate for you to be unprepared without a carb-y destination), Bakeriet i Lom is where you should go. The cafe uses wood burning stoves, and has a great stripped-down rustic feel. Traditional cardamom buns and cinnamon rolls are the go-to (we jumped on those) and I also decided to toast to the summer with a strawberry custard bun. The real winner for me, though, was the olive foccacia. It was salty and briny and has essence of rosemary. The outside was crunchy and the inside was soft. We kept it in a brown paper bag in the car and at the end of the day there were just a few scraps left. I was accused of really "going to town" on the foccacia. Guilty as charged. Speaking of guilty: I got into a minor scrape with the rental car out of the parking lot but IT WAS WORTH IT THANKS TO THE FOCCACIA. Yep. Said it. Yelp note: there's beautiful seating at the back overlooking (like, directly) the small waterfall. Intelligently designed space and a perfect spot to pause and enjoy the setting and the baked goods in front of you. read more

Absolutely loved this Spot! Our group had salami sandwich, ham & cheese sandwich, tomato focaccia and the skulebolle!
