First time here was yesterday 6-20-21 on a recommendation from believe it or not a Home Depot employee who lives in the area.we showed up to the beach around noon time (free parking)I was lucky to find a spot as someone was pulling out,plenty of people out and about it was great to see.It's a very nice beach wasn't prepared to see a elderly man standing there along the bank away from the crowds completely naked the man must have been made of Steele as it was 63 degrees out and I was freezing wrapped up like I was going to the snow.Plenty of room for everyone to do there own thing ,from nude sun bathing in frigid temperatures,fishing,or just hanging out. read more

Beautiful. Clean. Secluded. Breathtaking views. Serendipity brought us all here seeing as how we were at Golden Gate Park but didn't stop by. I know that Kevin likes the beach, nature - just being outside to take it all in basically so he used his Yelp app to navigate us here. My sister and her friend was following us. It was my kiddo's 1st time at a beach. The weather was cold, windy but tolerable but what I was worried about was the kiddo because he hasn't been feeling well and my forgetful ass forgot his beanie at daycare. We dressed him in layers but still you could see him shivering... walking on the sand was definitely something new to him. He stood there looking confused and eventually fell face first into the sand (haha.. sorry but it was funny). He fell twice. After a few pictures taken, it was time to freshen up and go. Here's the breakdown: - 2 parking lots - restroom facility and portable potties - great place to marvel at the Golden Gate Bridge - great beach for a photo shoot - ceremonies (I think I saw a formal ceremony of some sort there) Do I want to get married on the beach? No, but having a photo shoot on the beach is something in my radar. I'd like to get married on a golf course or at this hotel in Palm Springs, CA. One can only dream. read more

Dirty nasty beach a lot of dog's shit. Don't being your family especially little ones here. I didn't get it why they allowed pets here. They pooped in the sands even tho the owner take the shits out from sands still already contaminated. I wanna give them no star but I can't. read more

Perfect place for picnics, sightseeing, chillaxin, and just simply having fun beach side. Great beach with unobstructed views of the golden gate bridge. Plenty of parking and known only to the locals....not much tourists here. Just visited and was blown away by the view. Looking at the beach, u get the cliff cali houses with stucco roofs, looking right..the majestic gg bridge. Truly breathtaking...a must visit when you go to sfo...its right at the base.of the bridge on the san francisco side. Only negative is the waves are too strong to go for a long dip...no concession stands toi when i was there.. Cheers! read more

4 Stars for a beach with an unbeatable view and surprises around every corner (some more pleasant than others!). I was lucky enough to have a local friend take me to Baker Beach recently. We took a Lyft ride, which was great because the parking was slim! As soon as you descend upon the beach you will see the view that so many have written about before on this page. On one side is Land's End and on the other is that famous Golden Gate Bridge. So, yeah. You ain't gonna find a better view. But the in between is pretty stunning as well! I went on an uncommonly warm day so there were tons of people (and their canine friends!). Even so we were able to spot Dolphins swimming nearby. We walked towards the sand stairs - which I skipped for fear of passing out from exhaustion on the fourth step... Though I did spot some brave and fit souls making the trek! Along the way I very suddenly realized it was a nude beach. That wasn't something that bothered me at all (yay for people feeling free and trying to make nudity less of a taboo!) but unfortunately there has to be one person who ruins it for everyone. Seeing a man pleasuring himself just a few feet away from the sunbathers was really not on my list of sights to see in SF! ~sigh~ All in all the beach is absolutely gorgeous and worth the visit! And no. This Floridian did not even attempt to enter that frigid water! read more

Beware! Naked men might be in beach! I've gone here a few times but I've never walked all the way to the end where the bridge is. Yesterday was such a lovely day to be in the city with my family. We arrived here and it was more packed than any other visits we ever had so looking for parking was a bit of work. Circled twice and got lucky with a parking spot right by the entrance. Set up our umbrella and towels and started our walk. So like I did before, naked men on beach! I thought this older man had lost his mind for walking around with his man hood shaking freely on the beach. I guess there's a spot here on Baker beach where you're allowed to be naked? Because I saw s second man just laying on his towel getting burned by the sun. Beautiful beach and I sure will come back again. Just this time, I'll stay away from that section of the beach. read more

I'm a beach kind of guy, growing up in Australia! I was disappointed when I was moved to San Francisco at an earlier age. Ocean beach - nahhhh Baker beach - aight we talking... Baker beach, is usually slightly less crowded that ocean beach (the other main beach in sf). However, it can get popular too. It has an amazing view of the golden gate bridge and it has side picnic areas too with a restroom. It's a great place to get your vitamin D in and just catch up with friends and fam. Fun fact: I shot my watch brand promo video here, turned out great! read more

AMAZING views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Baker Beach reminds you why San Francisco is the best city in America to live. I like the vibe of Baker Beach, it's a little beat, some hippies, some parents, unpretentious singles sunbathing, a lot of folks taking their dogs for a run. Who cares that part of it is a nude beach? Baker Beach is uniquely San Francisco for the vibe and the views. Try walkin' around nude on a beach elsewhere and you'll get arrested but not in SF. And that's just one of the many reasons I love San Francisco. read more

Okay... so we may have just been lucky but there was hardly anyone there so tons of places to get comfy. The sand was so soft and the waves were crashing in light enough to prance around in. But really all that matters is that view. Just beautiful! read more

A good way to view the bridge. I found this place through Maps. I figured, it wouldn't make sense to go near the tourist trap. This place is tranquil. Not a lot of tourists, soft sand, gloomy, and just overall relaxing. Parking is free and abundant - it felt weird since I paid so much money to park around downtown. Short and simple. Baker Beach is definitely a place to see. It's where the trees, beach, and bridge meet - makes for a perfect photo. Be aware that this is also a nude beach. read more

Baker Beach is the beach in the northwest side of the city, just west of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's about a mile long, has panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Lands End, and has an intimate, local feel. My son loves to go here and we've actually had the pleasure of meeting some of our close friends here -- what a cool place to meet someone for the first time, right? It's a magical place. read more

This is a beautiful spot to get views of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's a different angle than what I am used to seeing in photos. The beach itself is beautiful and calm. Soooooo crowded so get there early.. I felt like we couldn't really walk on the beach because there was trash/junk everywhere. I think the view is super nice but it's just way too crowded and too dirty for our family. I love that it's dog friendly but I wouldn't take my dog here just Incase he steps on glass or something read more

Hands down the COLDEST California beach I've ever been to! Sand was very dirty, trash cigarette buds empty fast food bags etc.... I am now very spoiled being from SD area and loving my So Cal beaches but this was without a doubt a very disappointing beach moment, because all we were able to do was last a moment before we ran for shelter from wind and freezing temperatures! Baker Beach is not as large as Ocean Beach, however the view is much better. You get a gorgeous view of the Golden Gate Bridge, plus it is much less crowded. The view is gorgeous whether you come during the day, or at night. There is a small parking lot at this beach. It is fairly easy to snag a spot; maybe a 5-10min wait when it gets crowded. This is my go-to spot whenever I'm in the mood for a stroll on the beach! I've heard this is a nude beach, but haven't seen this for myself. Maybe someone could enlighten me as to where it is exactly? :p read more

I love nothing more than when my family decides to just get in the car and drive to a random beach to hang out. My grandma was visiting from Arizona and she wanted to go to the beach. So that's what we did. I let my uncle drive and pick the beach. He chose Baker Beach. This was my first visit. Id seen so many photos of the beach with happy couples and families frolicking. It was so nice to come and finally see for myself. We brought the kids and the grandmas and the aunts and uncles. We ran we played, we picked driftwood and rocks. It was windy and cold but that didn't stop a naked guy from running past us. My sister and I saw a whale way out near the Golden Gate blow a blast of mist into the air. That was awesome! We spent all day here and it was great. I want to come back again and again. Bring the family, bring some snacks and just enjoy the beauty that is the Bay Area. read more

With no fog around, you get amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge. On a nice day, though, it can be pretty crowded, and parking will be hard to find. On sunny days, this beach is awesome! Sometimes, though, it can get very windy and cold, so bring a jacket unless the sun's blazing. My now-husband and I came here for our engagement photo shoot one November afternoon just before sunset. The weather was perfect, and the pictures were beautiful with the bridge and water in the background. [[ Check them out in the photos section ]] Beware: The section of the beach that is closest to the GG Bridge is clothing-optional. The nudies are mostly men. There was even a group of nude men playing volleyball - needless to say, we stared down at the sand. read more

As beaches go this one is superb. I know there are many beaches that have stunning scenery but really, can any top the Golden Gate bridge? There are maybe a handful of days when it is really warm here, which means that you will rarely find overcrowding. In fact it is easy to find a parking space on weekdays. The only minus are the lack of food vendors (why are there no food trucks?) and the bathroom facilities which leave much to be desired in terms of cleanliness. Having grown up walking distance from here this will always be on my top 10 list. read more

Dog Friendly Beach, Gorgeous Golden Gate Bridge To Your Right & Yes It's Still a Nude Beach. My Lab has a Blast, and it was her first time there. I had her on a leash then had her off and she never had a problem the Beach goers & other dogs The GG is So Beautiful, The Ocean & Bridge all in one picture = GORGEOUS The Nude people tends to stay all the way near the Bridge, it's Legal, it doesn't bother anyone & hey it's San Francisco & you get a Good Tan The Parking, We came on a Thursday that happen to be close to 80 degree, got they at 11 am Found a Parking spot right away. We left around 2pm & Wow Parking was Full, the police had to close the parking lot and let a Lil in at a time. Rule of thumb SUNNY DAY, Get there EARLY read more

Beach is beautiful!!! Golden Gate in the distance gives it an extra beauty mark. The one knock is I feel they should have more garbage cans closer than how they have it now. Crowded beach. Beautiful walking trails on the way to it. It was foggy and couldn't see anything when I got down to the beach. This meant everyone was leaving and parking was available! Definitely a tourist beach, but the walk was wonderful - you can walk all the way to Golden Gate Bridge. Lots of bikers. Lots of dogs - all my dog and I encountered were well managed by owners. Heeelllo, so North Baker Beach is technically a nude beach...but the *actual* view is great, 3 stars take it or leave it. So I was here with a date, looked up, and it took a moment before I realized there was a buck naked guy just strolling around further down the beach from us. He walked up to a couple getting their wedding photos taken and just stood behind the photographer looking at them for a bit. There's also a bridge, sand, and waves. read more

A pretty lovely little park, if I do say so myself. I get to SF for a conference and the gods must be smiling on me, because it's actually warm and sunny. I immediately know I want to get near the water and this place is suggested to me by friends. I take a Lyft to the beach and immediately know I made the right decision. It's awfully nice, especially for being right off a city. Lots of signs to stay out of the water for fear of undercurrents, but I wasn't trying to wade around anyhow. I was perfectly content to sit on a log and people watch, plus the few random dogs who did NOT get the "stay out of the water" memo. It was awfully cute. Of course, the view of Golden Gate Bridge is second to none. Great photo ops, and TONS of people trying to get them. Wait your turn, I suppose. Then I took the little hike over to the bridge, which included more stairs than I had imagined. I worked up a sweat but nothing anybody of reasonable health couldn't handle. It'd be cool to see some more accessible facilities, but maybe I just missed them? If I lived here I would love to come back and stay for an afternoon. It's really beautiful and tranquil. read more

It's always good to get another view of the golden gate bridge. This beach provides that view and it's not busy. The rocks are also a great photo spot as well. It's a great way to enjoy the outdoors and get a good tourist pic. There are plenty of nude people here as well, but everyone tends to mind their own business and they're off doing their own thing. The water is cold so be aware. The sounds of the waves is very therapeutic and we just enjoyed our stay there for a little bit before heading out and running errands. The sand ladder is also located nearby and that provides another beach view for those who want to enjoy what this beach has to offer. read more

Reviewer # 618 Its the beach, under the Golden Gate Bridge, how could it not be a 5 in and of itself! There is ample parking here, with clean bathrooms. No wheelchair friendly to get to the beach. From my understanding, there is a nude beach included here if you keep walking toward the Golden Gate bridge, but I haven't seen anything of the sort. There are breathtaking views here. The iconic Golden Gate in the background, is a must stop for a great photo op. read more

Love this beach. This was my first time here 9/19/20 & will definitely be back. Loved the view of the Golden Gate. Weather was perfect. Got here after 1pm on a Saturday afternoon & parking wasn't bad at all. There were a lot of people but we had a great time. Only thing is the restroom. There are only portable ones & so gross! Used a few in my life time but omg these ones were disgusting!!! read more

Mostly a great place for families! I've always enjoyed coming to Baker Beach. The sands are warm and the water is nice and nippy! Speaking of nippy.. There are a few nudists on the far corner of the beach, closer to the Golden Gate Bridge. So beware before you start walking that way with your kids but if you avoid that area you'll be good as they are very respectful of boundaries, were noticed. The Beach itself is for the most part very clean, except when it gets busy over the weekend. Then there is trash here and there. This is also dog friendly, so watch your step, haven't accidentally stepped on anything yet. The owners are usually good with picking up droppings. Parking usually isn't too bad and we always find a spot inside the designated parking area or close by. Best time to go would be during the week as it's super clean and quiet. Have fun! read more

Realizing that Fort Point was closed for a good photo of the Golden Gate Bridge on our way out of San Francisco, we ended up coming to Baker Beach. I think some things are meant to be. We arrived here when hardly anyone was here on a Tuesday October morning which was Halloween day. The parking was easy at the time. Viewing the waves, water, Golden Gate Bridge and surroundings made a good departure stop for our last day of vacation in San Francisco. read more

What a great view of the GG. There were no boobies when we went could be that it was pretty cold outside. We went there to take our doggie to the ocean and there weren't that many doggies there for him to play with BUT I did get a great picture of him near the GG. read more

We got soo lucky with the weather today in SF! (June 12, 2010) It was super hot about 80 degrees and the heat felt so good on my skin. Me and my girlfriends got lucky with parking and was able to swoop when someone was leaving in the parking lot but it looks like you can park along the road leading up to the beach. I saw bikes locked up to the posts by the beginning of the road so that was cool. There are also port-a-potties so you don't just go in the water as well. Who's to stop anyone though. We were there for almost 4 hours and I had such a good time people watching and just relaxing. It seems like a beach for the younger crowd because I was seeing a lot of people openly drink and some people had some wine and cheese! I did hear that there is a nudie area closer to the Golden Gate Bridge side and I would be down for that! No tan lines! I opted to hang out in the populated area though. Even though it was hot the water was still cold but it felt nice. This is a dog friendly beach where dogs were off their leashes and just in the water having a good time. Oh and I did need to mention how beautiful the background is with Golden Gate Bridge. The sand was oh so hot though! The sand is a darker color which was interesting. Oh random we saw some dude with his guitar serenading to his chick. lol random. This beach is nice for relaxing and just laying out. Didn't see anyone do any water activities really and there is no spot for volleyball or anything. I really liked how clean it was. SF beach where its hot! So not normal! read more

What a lovely drive you have to take to get to Baker Beach. I think enjoyed the drive just as much as the beach... lots of tress and an amazing view of the ocean. Parking is free, the beach isn't overly crowded and dogs can run freely! It was easy to get to and very clean, there are stairs to climb, a forest to hike through and of course the beautiful back drop of the Golden Gate Bridge to enjoy. I read reviews about the nudity but (luckily) didn't see anyone airing out their business on the day that I was there. Going on a weekday was a good choice, I'm sure its much busier on the weekends... and much more naked. read more

Baker beach is just breath taking! This is the second best beach in San Francisco. I come here all the time but it's a lot bigger than the beach I personally go to on a regular occasion. I live five minutes away ..I can come here to play music, get some fresh air, Read books, and also do nothing. If you're in the area, come by for a 10 minute breather. Like I always do! read more

There are a couple of restrooms at the entrance of the Eastern parking lot. The nude area is closer to the bridge, as you walk all the way down.

So it says the beach is closed @ 7pm everyday but can people still stay until sunset b/c it's usually around 8:30-9pm for sunset now?

Baker Beach parking lot is closed to parking from one hour after sunset (or when gates are closed), until 6 a.m. year-round.

Do we have to pay for parking?

Yes. Go north up the beach towards the GG bridge. This is where you want to be for clothing optional fun

There are no showers at Baker Beach.

Can you see fireworks on 4th of July from this beach?

No. This beach faces the ocean and not the bay where the fireworks are shot off.

Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are allowed on Baker Beach North of Lobos Creek.

I've seen people do this yes! Not sure of the official rule though

Can you BBQ there?

Yes. There are grills in the picnic area or you can provide your own. No fires of any kind on Spare the Air days.

We…read moregathered at the dock super early and although we thought it was early, Captain Kyle was up and at'm ready to fish! He said we were in for an adventure. The great thing about DSF is that they provide all the gear necessary for your catch. We were going out for Tuna as Bluefin are now found in the waters off the west coast, we were all pretty excited to go fishing. All we brought with us was food and drinks, having everything else included was a bonus. In the event we caught anything, they'll cut, clean, gill and give us fillets. The boat ride was awesome, no one got seasick thank goodness, there's ample seating inside and out. It was super foggy in the early morning, but cleared up by the time we started. I've not been on a fishing boat prior to this trip, and I was blown away at how scenic and beautiful the water was out there. The bright sunshine gave the water a super bright blue appearance, it was cool. Captain Kyle and his deckhand got everyone rigged up and ready to fish. The Captain is youthful and took his time answering questions and giving advice. His mixture of humor and knowledge of where the fish were was certainly a bonus because as soon as lines were in the water we heard, " Fish On!" That first Tuna took everyone on board including my son Parker to reel it in ( Posted Picture). What a freaking rush. It was exciting watching as everyone reeled something in on the boat. We laughed, joked and had such a fun day out on the water with friends. On our way back in to harbor the Captain pointed out several whale pods swimming around the boat, it was a trip seeing them jump. We enjoyed our lunch and talked about who caught the biggest tuna. In all honesty, that first one was the biggest in my book. I can't say enough great things about Captain Kyle and his Diamond Sport Fishing. Reservations were easy as charters go out practically daily either 1/2 or full days. The waters off of California are changing, getting warmer, they're seeing Bluefin Tuna and Marlin so who knows, maybe our next trip we'll catch something epic! Overall Impression: A+

Spotted a couple Gray Whales from a distance, and after a tip from another boat were able to get closer to two others swimming together and ride along with them for a while. It was so clean, well until we all made a mess. It is a lovely boat. We felt so safe with the crew. The Riptide is owned by Capt. William Smith. He has been a licensed captain for over 30 years. You will find it located on "H" dock at Pillar Pt. Harbor in El Granada (near Half Moon Bay), California. The Captain was with us and he was able to help the weak ones, like me, without making me feel like I did not belong. The boat leaves super early in the morning so get some sleep the night before. I had to nap after. Go to their website to see what type of fish is in season or you will not be happy. We went for Rockfish and caught a few and were so happy. We grilled it all up and it was great and we were able to serve a lot of people. I was hoping to see a whale, but sadly, did not. I think they are pretty rare to see in that area. They have clean bathrooms. We will be back, this time for salmon.

This looks like a new little park that is great to eat lunch and then take a easy walk on a levee out into the Bay. I saw two great blue herons and a man fishing at the tip of the levee path. The last time we rafted Middle Fork American was on a cold, gloomy, drizzling day in October 2019 - so we had to give it another go in warmer weather. This time around was just as memorable. Two of us in the boat ended up falling out in the water at Tunnel Chute, which happened so fast that I barely knew what had happened - thankfully, there was a nice calmer stretch of water right after through the river tunnel, so we were easily able to get back into the raft. (Thank you to our guide, Troy, for hauling me back in, and for being an awesome guide in general!) Plus this was one of the photographer spots, so the action was all captured for us to laugh about later. Later, after our tasty sandwich picnic lunch, we had a few unexpected events happen, starting from the portage down Ruck-a-Chucky Falls. Shout-out to all three guides in our group - Troy, Shea, and AJ - for handling things so calmly and getting us all back where we were supposed to be! We had plenty of calm stretches floating down the river as well. The canyon is beautiful and quite peaceful. We saw a ton of dragonflies flying above our heads, masked ducks chilling on rocks and diving underwater, and wild grapes and blackberries growing alongside the river. We'll be back again for another trip with All-Outdoors! Maybe we'll try a 2-day or 3-day trip next time.
