Bajis' seems to be a little local Mountain View secret. I had never heard of it before yesterday even though it's less than a mile from my home. I think one of the reasons it's not more well known is because of its location in a sort of industrial area. My friend and I had breakfast this morning and were solidly impressed. The service was top notch, the food good, and the outdoor seating nice. The prices were a little high, around $25 for an omelette, skillet (one of their specialties, basically omelette ingredients with the eggs on top), coffee, and tea. Our waiter (and greeter, he was the only one on what seemed to be a slow morning) was super attentive and very nice. The menu was extensive with plenty of vegetarian options and playful wording for the dishes. Some of the food has a Mediterranean influence and I chose a very tasty omelette with falafel and feta. Overall I don't know if Bajis' tops Hobee's or A Good Morning for breakfast or brunch but it's definitely a great option. I didn't try any of their beer or cocktails but that's a nice feature you don't get at every breakfast place. read more

I ordered the Chillaquiles. Chillaquiles (sp?) is made with corn tortillas and Anaheim chiles and eggs as the key ingredients. It came out in less than 5 minutes (do they microwave the meals??). Their version is made with commercial Corn Chips, and the dish that I know to look like Chillaquiles was unrecognizable to me. When the waiter checked on my meal I complained: "Commercial corn chips? This looks more like some new nachos dish." He said, "Oh yeah. They don't make them here like my mom does." That was it. It might not have been a problem had it tasted good, but it had no flavor to it. The potatoes were tasteless, except for the rancid taste from the oil they were fried/cooked in. He did ask me if I would like to try something else, which I declined. I asked for the bill and there was no discount even though I left the meal on the table with just a few bites taken from it. read more

I may have come here on their off day but I thought the food was way below average and service was nonexistent. I ordered a sandwich and a glass of iced tea. On the sandwich I asked for sliced Rye but it came out in a French Roll also the iced tea was more like iced water than tea. Hardly any tea flavor nor color. When I received the bill - it clearly says Rye Bread on it but looks like the person who prepares the sandwich doesn't read English. This is another one of those "Lost in Translation" restaurants where you order one thing and end up getting something else. read more

Very nice family diner. We used to go there all the time with the kids, sit in the back and have a great breakfast. Staff is very attentive, prices are fair and the food is really good. Nice selection of omelettes. Seating is mostly booths, but they have free standing tables and chairs in the back room. Also outdoor seating. Low key, casual. read more

It was thanks to Yelp that I even found out about Baji's Cafe. My husband and daughter accompanied me to an early morning doctor's appointment so that we could then go have breakfast and then see a movie. Since we don't eat in Mountain View much since we moved, my husband suggested I turn to Yelp for reviews. That's how I found Baji's Cafe and I'm oh so glad I did! As soon as we walked in we were greeted by an older gentleman who welcomed us and said we could sit wherever we wanted. We had drinks and menus within minutes. We had fun looking over the menu, mostly because of the names of the various item were funny. And we're easily amused. The look of the place is okay, it looked clean enough, has a nice heated patio (I was even given a demo of how well the heaters work) and allows you to bring your dog/s with you. When I looked over their extensive menu I saw they have biscuits and gravy. I am very picky about the gravy (I hate it when places have tiny bits of sausage in their gravy, don't you?) and asked for a sample before I ordered it as my meal. It was heavenly!! I was quite hungry so I had the 2 biscuits and gravy and a waffle with fruit which was also quite good. They serve up Peet's coffee here, which seems to thrill a lot of people, but I'm not too choosy about where mine comes from as long as it's not a French roast. In all, we had the biscuits and gravy and a waffle with fruit for me, a build your own omelette (bacon, cheddar, spinach, onions, and bell pepper), hash browns, and toast for my hubby, and the all meat scramble, hash browns, and toast for our daughter. Each of us cleaned our plates and headed out to catch the movie (Capt. America: The Winter Soldier if anyone's curious). We never had to ask for refills as our friendly waiter came around often to check on us. I shouldn't speak for my husband or daughter but I know they'd be more than happy to come back to Baji's to try more items on the menu. I have already recommended the place to some friends who live in Mtn. View and wouldn't hesitate to tell more friends about it. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 is that I've only been here one time. After another few visits I'll edit my review. I think that's the fair way to do it. read more

A little bit out off the beaten track, and a little bit isolated in terms of food establishments, but well worth trying. Their vegetarian omelette was quite good and the touch of feta cheese was original and quite tasty. My date had a salad that she thoroughly enjoyed. Service could have been a touch more prompt, but everyone there is polite. Bathroom was clean but unisex. (I'm glad I wasn't there during a rush hour.) read more

We've eaten at Bajis Cafe more than five times and had the same wonderful experience on each occasion--note this has always been for breakfast between 8 and 10 am. Staff: Incredible. They honestly seem concerned about the patron and work together as a team. Best service possible. Food: Consistent and good/great. Love the skillets. Price: Very low (for the area)--maybe $12 per large meal. Although always busy, only once did we have to wait for a table. The staff said ten minutes and we were seated in less than five. Once again, the staff really goes above and beyond without managing to be annoying. They seem grateful for your business and keep us coming back! read more

I've eaten three times at Baji's with my family and it has been superb every time-Eggs Benedict, French toast and today the loma verde omlette. I love eating here. Coffee is full bodied with lots of flavor. Wait staff is friendly and attentive , but not overly attentive-coffee refills aplenty. I love eating here, bit I already said that! read more

I'm not a huge breakfast person but Bajis won me over! Went here for breakfast the other day with my parents and we all really enjoyed it. The service is excellent and all the servers are very attentive and polite. The menu is also quite vast; they have just about anything you can think of for breakfast. SUPPORT LOCAL FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS. I had a coupon for this place and truth be told, had never heard of it. Tragically this morning, I was in the mood for some pancakes. Easily missed when driving, I had to make a U turn to find the joint. Once I pulled in, I noticed and early bird special for 4.95. Quaint, small, with an "i love the bay area" feel to it. Great service and extensive menu boasting an omelet bar. I ordered the pancakes, and those were huge. I was only able to eat 1. Skillet's looked smaller and solid, but they are a little more expensive. They serve everything from your traditional 2 egg, meat, potato breakfest to french toast and fruit pancakes. Plus-they have some "ethnic" dishes as well. Overall, solid if you want a change from the standard joint. Note-they will give you free coffee or soda if you pay with cash from the ATM outside-those darn credit card fees! Did I mention they serve breakfest all day... read more

Everytime we go there breakfast is good but the meat size on the chicken and waffle is not consistent. Went on mother's day was very busy and breakfast was served late with disappointing pieces of chicken I asked for bigger piece of chicken but overall we like this place. read more

What a treat! Had my Piaggio in for service at CalMoto across the street and they suggested that if I was hungry to go to Bajis Cafe. I am so glad I came! I came into Bajis for the eggs Benedict and stayed for the outstandingly friendly service. Came alone on a Sunday morning after a week-long business trip, exhausted and somewhat grumpy, happened to sit across from the owner (Bajis obviously) and was cheered up immediately by him, his accommodating staff, and their no-nonsense coffee. Bajis told me that his business strategy consisted of whether a single woman felt comfortable in his restaurant and he definitely succeeded. I've thus far come back the following Sunday and once during the week with coworkers. The servers remember my orders (which is talented since I order something different every time) and of course Bajis welcomes me in with a big smile. The food's hearty and many of the foods are cooked just the way I like them. The French toast isn't too eggy and the corned beef hash is crisped on the top. The staff is always checking on you and making sure everything's fine and most importantly, topping off my coffee. Love this place. I recommend this place to everyone. read more

Great food, excellent service, and super casual atmosphere-if you're looking for a good go-to American breakfast and brunch diner in Mtn View, you should definitely try Bajis. Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by Bajis and his staff and seated outside, where the din quieted and my friend and I had more privacy. Although we dawdled with ordering (the menu is huge!), the staff checked in on us regularly and didn't rush us. Within a just a few minutes of finally deciding, the waiter returned with our food, steaming hot and smelling absolutely fantastic. My friend's biscuits and gravy with eggs were just the right amount salty and savory, and my health nut omelette was filled with veggies and cooked just right. Even better, the potatoes were well-seasoned and not overly oily, although they were a bit dry. Overall, we had a solid, enjoyable experience. I will definitely be back for more. read more

Although I'm not a huge fan of breakfast foods, I needed to come here and experience some Baji's after all the hype I received from friends. There's always been rave reviews about the hash browns, so of course I caved and tried it out. It wasn't bad - nice and crispy on the outside and cooked on the inside (how else am I supposed to describe this?). I also got the South Palo Altan omelette with their English muffin. As simple as it is, I really liked the English muffin - toasted with melted butter. The omelettes were okay, I felt like I could make it at home, but we'll see. The fiance got the buck wheat pancakes which were alright (even though I'm not a fan of pancakes) and over easy eggs. I don't know, I've never been to a place where I was totally wow-ed by the breakfast foods. Maybe I'm just not much of a breakfast person... it has motivated me to attempt to make a more hearty breakfast on weekends though. Baji's also serves alcoholic breakfast drinks, like a Bloody Mary, which my fiance liked but I was more meh about. Hobee's or Baji's? Both are decent, but since Baji's is closer in mileage proximity, I think Baji's will take the win for my new once-in-a-blue-moon breakfast joint. read more

It's the service!! We went to this place every weekend, and sometimes during the week, when I had a day off. Retired now, so we would be great customers, but they finally lost us. Don't think we're snobby customers, "She who MUST BE obeyed," and myself, spent several years, she out front, myself in the kitchen, working in restaurants. We always leave 20-25% tip and more, so we get that not every, visit is going to be a winner. We won't return a meal, unless I think it's someone else's order. Anyway, if you're a waiter, you couldn't get a better pair to draw too or to . . . we brought a lot friends and family to this place and they knew us well, and there were usually,cordial greetings all around. But and it's a very large but . . . ok, I make a funny, but we sadly, gave up the place. When they got too busy, they just didn't seem to know how to handle it. Please, if you're an owner or a waiter don't seat us if you can't take care of us. Secondly, Internal strife among the staff. Last time we were there, it was the Perfect Storm, to many customers, and the infernal (yes, I know . . . internal, made a funny there) strife. It took about 45 minutes, before we received our drinks, 15 minutes more for . . . what the hell is that on my plate, to arrive. Sorry, but the food was that ugly, and really tasted like it looked. Also, it was the rude delivery of the food, the way it was just thrown on our table, by a waiter, I've given an extra, $10-20 above the tip on other visits. We did not finish our meal or drink, Her Ladyship, did leave a tip, she's British, so can't help but be properly polite. Sadly, we duck walked our way out the door, hand in hand, never to return. BTW, we're not the couple in flip flops, shorts, wearing a dirty sweat shirt. We always dress above casual, are polite and forgiving. My wife and 2 year old son went there for breakfast. I ordered the falafel, feta, onion and tomato omelet, my wife had the ham and cheese omelet, and my son had the pancake, scrambled egg & bacon from the kids menu. The waitress was nice and the vibe was good for a toddler. The food left a lot to be desired. It was entirely edible, but there were several things that could really be done better. First, the potatoes were a bit greasy and completely unseasoned. They really needed S&P. The omelets were technically executed properly but both had issues. The ham in my wife's omelet was really salty and completely overwhelmed the dish. On my dish, I just question the wisdom of having falafel in an omelet. The flavor profile was simply too incongruent for breakfast to me. Perhaps it was just me, but I didn't enjoy that much cumin and tahini that early in the morning. This could have been a good dish in a different context. Overall, this is an OK breakfast option, but given that I live in Sunnyvale, I'll probably stick with Hobee's, Country Gourmet and American Diner. read more

Finally found a good breakfast place in Mountain View! The blueberry pancakes were fluffy, huge and delicious, and the hash browns were good too! No unnecessary grease all over everything like most breakfast places. Peet's Coffee. The location is in a residential neighborhood, but inside it was very cute, with hanging potted plants and sports memorabilia on the walls, nice old timey atmosphere (several flat screen tvs a more recent addition to the ambiance). The staff were super friendly and attentive. Will bring back family and friends to try some other items off their huge menu. A cute and tasty neighborhood diner! read more

Coming here made me angry... at myself for not finding this place sooner! I lived most of my life in Mountain View, and never thought this was more than a coffee and pastry joint. Thanks to Yelp, I visited it and found out firsthand that it is a very good diner. I had chilaquiles (asked for it with the eggs mixed in) and it is top notch. It's made with a red sauce that has pieces of onion, tomato, and pepper. The biscuits and gravy are tasty too. They have a Peet's coffee bar, so the regular coffee is great, and they offer espresso/latte/mochas too. Service was fast and friendly. I look forward to coming again and trying more things on the menu. read more

Great little fine in Mountain View. Tucked in an industrial section near where old and new Middlefield come together, this place has good food and friendly service. I had the waffles and chicken. An early, 7:45 AM visit on a Wednesday was truly a disappointment. I read the reviews, which were all 5-stars and was really expecting a great breakfast, either I went to the wrong restaurant (which I didn't) or the place was taken over by Aliens. First, I was given a menu and then casually forgotten for about 15 minutes. I noticed the waiter take orders from people who got seated after me, not once but on three occasions. Maybe regulars got taken care of because I was ignored. When my order was finally taken and the coffee was delivered, the next disappointment was about to happen, this was the worst cup of coffee I have ever had! It tasted like the third or fourth time through the filter. This brown colored swill was placed in front of me, one sip and it was almost undrinkable. I may be used to Peets, Philz, or even Starbucks, but this was the worst! Well, my omelet, wasn't getting any better! It was barely warm, and appeared to be just thrown together, flavorless, the corned beef was somewhat fresh, but the rest of the ingredients, olives, cheese, onions, and even the lukewarm hash browns were uninspired.
