It was roasted whole carrots as the main component on a bun with lettuce, kimchi, fried onions, and a spicy aioli. It came with sweet potato fries. Good drinks and service. We will be back.

They were offering a "Summerdeal" which was a prie fixe 3 course meal for 25 Euro, or a 4 course meal (with an extra pre-entree) for 29.50 Euros. A wine pairing was available for 5 euros a course. The atmosphere of the place is nice. We arrived when it opened at 6pm and were the first ones there, but it was soon quite full with what seemed to be a mix of locals and beach goers. The servers, who seemed to share duties throughout the meal, were pleasant and helpful. We had a small toddler with us, and they provided a high chair and markers for her to color with. Food-wise, the highlights were a complimetary amuse bouche of miniature blini and smoked salmon, and the desserts, which included cheesecake with fruit-infused creme fresh and chocolate mousse. The entrees that we chose were monkfish and beef tenderloin. The monkfish came in a truffle sauce - the sauce was wonderful but the fish was a bit overcooked. The tenderloin was good, although the sauce it came in was quite salty. If you peruse the TripAdvisor reviews, you'll find a consensus that Spijs is a great deal for the money, and I have to agree. When a limped into the restaurant, bleeding and pantyhose torn up, one of the employees was kind enough to bring out the first aid kit and patch me up with alcohol and bandages. Meanwhile the bartender mixed me up a drink (double of course). Embarrassing circumstance but I wanted to mention it because I thought it was very kind of them. The dinner itself was fantastic. We have the set menu with wine paring. They were very patient with us since each on of us ordered a different variation of the menu. It was nice to have some flexibility. My wife and I had the chef surprise 4 course menu with wine pairing, and what a treat it was. From a very simple cheese and salad amuse bouche, smoked sea bass and mixed fish starter, an incredible house smoked duck breast (with home made fig and nut chutney) and a very interesting rabbit ragu and finally a desert collection; everything was perfect! Wine pairings were also very interesting, all obscure European sourced wines that matched the food perfectly. Including, something I had never heard of before, a pinot grigio from Luxembourg. If you like good, French style, food I strongly suggest you try De Eetkamer. Heck, the next time you are in the Netherlands and you like good food, this place is worth a visit.
