The primary train station in the region is a few minutes away in Rostock. Then it is just a simple…read morelocal train ride to reach the beach town and port city of Warnemünde. This train station is the end of line, so no worries about overshooting. There were a mix of express trains and local lines between the two cities and the trains were modern and ran on time.
The train station is within easy walking distance of the Cruise Center, beach and promenade with bars, restaurants and shops. In the heat of summer, it was downright idyllic. Every time we passed by, there would be some form of musical entertainment in the walkway leaving the station.
There weren't a lot of ticket agents about, but there were usually police officers who were able to answer our basic transportation questions. Also, very few shops at this location. Many more options at Rostock and that is where we stocked up on food and drink items for the longer train ride into Berlin.
