OK, chances are if you're reading this, you're considering this place because you've stumbled onto…read morea fairly attractive deal for a vacation stay in Switzerland through RCI's timeshare program. While I overall enjoyed my stay here, there are several things you'll need to keep in mind, especially the difficulty of reaching here via public transportation which may limit the # of hours you have available for activities during your stay. My tips here are mostly written for the perspective of a US visitor although many may apply to everyone. First, definitely make sure you'll have internet on your mobile phone when you come here; it'll make your life so much easier. If you're a US resident, I highly recommend switching to Google Fi (I'm not affiliated with them btw) since the coverage here is excellent and you'll immediately have access here just like at home. Second, you'll need a fair bit of pre-planning to deal with the relative lack of public transit here. If you're renting a car, you don't really need to read this (but you're probably better off paying more for a hotel, AirBnB, or other RCI property somewhere more convenient since car rentals plus gas is extremely expensive here.) Download the SBB app to your phone and memorize the schedule of the Postbus(s) that take you from Torgon la Jorette to the Aigle Gare which is the main train hub for the area. As of this writing, the first bus down picks you up at 6:30am and the last bus back up from Aigle is at 6:28pm (side note: one Monday I came at 6:25am and didn't get the bus until the next timeslot at 7:30 despite being early; maybe they thought nobody would be there that early.) Note that if you take the 7:30 bus on a weekday, you'll encounter large groups of kids. You might also need to transfer busses at the Vionnaz Village though you'll know from the SBB app; the other bus will usually wait for you even if your current bus is late (which seems to happen a lot though it's rarely extra late.) Keep in mind the bus fare each way is 12 CHF but you can pay 6 CHF if you bought a half fare card; the Swiss Travel Pass will cover this fare as well though I'd only use it in conjuction with further train travel. If you miss the last bus up, you could be in a real bind since the Taxis up will cost at least 100 francs. I tried calling for an Uber once and even though I was initially quoted for about 50 francs, that got canceled and I was presented with a new quote of around 150 CHF! Definitely consider signing up for Switzerland's Mobility short-term car rentals before coming here as it was my lifeline when I missed the last bus (due to a train delay.) Although there's rentals available right near the Aigle Gare, they might not all be available but you have more options in nearby cities like Montreux, Vevey, Martigny, etc. Mobility may seem pricy especially if you're paying by the hour and staying overnight but it's certainly cheaper than getting a taxi (oh, and parking is plentiful and free.) Also, make sure you bring soap and shampoo when you come here because they don't provide you with any! And since most RCI stays start on a Saturday, the stores up there may be closed by the time you arrive and will likely remain closed on Sunday so you're in a bind, especially if you decided to arrive here directly from Geneva or Zurich right after stepping off the plane. You certainly won't want to be paying 100+ francs for a taxi each way to go down to the convenience store at the Aigle Gare for soap. Many other reviewers complained that they didn't get Internet in their rooms but I was close enough to lobby that I was able to bum off of that wifi. You'll find a lot of people using their phones and computers in the lobby as a result. Make sure you've enabled tethering in your Google Fi plan as that'll be the Internet you'll be using in your room if you're not close to the lobby. As for the rooms and facilities themselves, they're pretty good and in line with what you'd expect at most other RCI resorts. You get the standard fare of pots, pans, dishes, bowls, and even dishwashing soap (which I had to use as my washing soap the day I arrived because I didn't bring any and desperately needed a bath after a 15+ hour flight.) The views in the Torgon area are spectacular and there are countless opportunities for spectacular photos from the bus ride to and from Aigle. As for places that you can visit nearby that's compatible with the viable window where the Torgon to Aigle bus operates, here are my recommendations: Lausanne Chillion Castle Yverdon-les-Bains Bern Zurich (art museum is free on Wednesdays but might be pushing it in terms of making it back) Glacier 3000 (might be a bit tight on time) Gruyères Castles

I wish the place offered discounted bus tickets because the grocery is not close and the creperie restaurant up the road is expensive. However, the restaurant open between 1900-2100 has awesome paninis. Wifi is only accessible in lobby, and is stronger towards the center by the front desk. Regardless, it was a pleasant experience. We got a good amount of hiking in (the main reason for our visit to Switzerland) on the days that the clouds were higher. Perfect temperatures though! Nice staff that spoke enough or more than enough English to get by. They also were very kind and gave us a free round of drinks and a dessert for my friend's 21st birthday. Definitely a memorable addition to our backpacking trip.
