It's huge... includes the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Media Museum, the Institute for Music and Accoustics. In the Media Museum, one can see interactive films, simulation techniques for cyberspace, experiments in video gaming. The shows are ambitious and well-curated, i.e. FUN. ZKM's one of its kind. Go visit the next time you're in Germany. :-)

Three buildings with a nice overview of art ranging from the 16th to 20th centuries…read more The main building's 16th century items were not to my taste - mostly religious depictions of the crucifixion and brutal events leading up to the event; there were also lots of paintings of people being robbed or violent acts; hunting; war.......lots of dark themes that weren't exactly my taste But there were happier paintings to be found - nice Expressionists exhibit in the Orangerie, featuring prominent German artists and there was even an Henri Matisse and an Oskar Schlemmer Overall, have to say there was a very nice representation of the centuries & it was interesting to see the popular topics people were commissioned to paint

Spent a good part of the afternoon strolling the palace grounds…read more We went here on a Monday in November, which was a mistake as the museum is closed on Monday. However, that didn't stop us from taking advantage of the grounds and parks surrounding it. The grounds are well kept and expansive. Since it was already winter, the many fountains and water were not flowing, but that did not deter us from enjoying them. There is a really nice playground for every age of child hidden among the many paths. Even if you don't make it inside the palace, spending time strolling through the parks is worth the visit.
