Hauptbahnhof and Marianplatz are only a couple of stops away, which is super convenient. The hotel staff was more than accommodating. The front desk answered our questions and provided us with amenities like razors and sewing kits when asked (I know, this is a given in nicer hotels, but it's always great.) The room was clean and spacious and had an alright view. The bed was super comfortable. We added on breakfast both mornings we were there, and were delighted equally both visits. The restaurant offers a typical German breakfast buffet spread with fruits, cheeses, breads, yogurt, and cereal, along with juices, espresso or coffee drinks, and off-the-menu options such as pancakes and omelettes. The food and coffee were wonderful and the serving staff was attentive and warm. Since many shops and attractions are closed on Sundays, we opted for a later check-out. For the cost, we definitely felt that we got our money's worth. I would definitely stay here again, and would recommend the hotels to others.

I had been searching for hotels near the Messe ICM (Congress Centre) for quite some time, and I…read moremust say that as I haven't been there before, it was quite confusing and difficult to book a hotel in Munich. My colleagues who had been there before suggested hotels closer to the city centre, which is quite a distance from the airport and from the Congress Centre. I opted to look for a hotel close to the Congress Centre, although even in my search for nearby hotels, I was quite surprised at the cost. Initially when I reviewed this hotel, each room was $600+/night which I felt to be quite ridiculous in price. I had compared the price to nearby hotels, and those sanctioned by our conference, whad had already been sold out. I decided to wait until the last minute, after searching multiple hotel sites, AirBnB etc, and finally got this hotel at a deal. Now here's my review of the hotel itself: To begin with, it is located at least 40 mins away from the airport, directly across from the Congress Centre. I had contacted the hotel in advance to ensure an early check in and other requests based on preferences, and received a message back stating that they would try to accommodate my requests. There is no hotel shuttle, and apparently Uber is not allowed on the Congress property. My colleague and I waited 40 mins for a shuttle from the airport to the ICM and were told thereafter that we were wasting our time and that the shuttle never comes! We decided to take a cab and were gouged at a price of 80 Euro one way. I finally made it my way to the hotel, and was greeted by the staff who were quite pleasant overall. However, despite my requests for a non-smoking and accessible room (as I had visitors who required this), I was led to a different room where my badge could not access, so I had the staff let me in. I called reception, where they confirmed they had given me the wrong room and to come back to reception. Thereafter, they changed my room again, although, this time to a room which was clearly a smoking room, and non-accessible, which was unfortunate for my colleague who was visiting me and required such accomodations. Unfortunately, there isn't much to do in the area at all. I located a nearby walking//biking trail and park approximately 4km away, and a small beach, which was quite nice. There is a mall (Riem Arcaden) approximately a 10 min walk away, with many stores, including a grocery store/supermarket, pharmacy and restaurants, including standard North American fast food. In order to get to the city centre, there is a train directly across the ICM which takes approximately 25 minutes each way. A cab/Uber was approximately $25 Euros each way. The room itself was pretty standard with two twin beds made into a double. I was a bit confused though, as there were only decorative shams and a decorative throw, rather than pillows and/or sheets. There was satellite tv in the room, as well as a coffee maker and complimentary water. The bathroom had a separate toilet and rainfall shower with separate shower head. There were standard toiletries provided. There was no iron or ice bucket in the room, thus I had to ask for these things. There are fitness facilities (see photos) which are quite nice, with 1 treadmill, a cross trainer, and stationary bike, with a weight system and free weights. There is a nice outdoor terrace with a sauna. The gym is only open from 6:30am-10pm however. There was no pool in the hotel. Interestingly, the fitness facility is actually located in the adjacent hotel, H2, which is the 'sister' hotel. My room was on the 4th floor of H4, thus I had to take the elevator down one floor, cross over to the other hotel, and go up a floor again. I did not try the hotel bar, but did order dessert from the attached restaurant/bar which was standard. The hotel staff were pleasant, although not all spoke English. Overall, my experience was quite good. It is conveniently located if you are attending the Congress; however, if you are looking to go exploring Munich, this is not ideal. I would recommend staying closer to the central station. Thanks for a great stay!

My staying here had nothing to do with Oktoberfest as I actually lived in Munich and was relocating to South Africa with my family. The airline screwed up the reservations for our dog so I had to stay behind with baby and dog, and the airline found a room for 5 nights for us here. I completely agree with the former reviewer: rooms were clean but oh so small. I have a big dog and it was clear at once that the pet carrier couldn't stay in the room. We had to take it downstairs to be stored. The stroller had to be packed right behind the closed door otherwise I wouldn't be able to move about the room. And the decor, ugh! Uglè! Wirtshaus (Bavarian restaurant) style complete with wall to wall wood and beer banks/table. I'd much prefer having the space free. Breakfast was great the first day but then I realized on the 2nd day and the 3rd........that there was no variety at all and it became very boring. It's great if you're only staying one night. I skipped bfast the last 2 days of my stay and just ordered coffee in my room. The three stars is for the helpfulness of the staff. They kept my dog's air carrier, printed my boarding card for me and even lent me a charger for my cell phone. I think the airline paid €184 Euro a night for us during Oktoberfest but it certainly wouldn't be worth that any other time.

Just a short walk from the Marienplatz, you can easily and speedily train in from the airport. The hotel's spare, vaguely Japanese design appeals - think hardwood floors, muted colours, no superfluous object cluttering up otherwise open space - and so many of the little touches are ones I love like lavender-scented sleep spray next to your bed to spritz on your sheets, a terrific tea menu and an ambient music soundtrack that has twice helped me focus and power through work. I was there on business (coming from vacation) and the airline had conveniently lost my bags. Joy. That said, I was checked in quickly and efficiently, handed a toothbrush and toothpaste by the sympathetic Front Desk and also told something about my key card -- to which I smiled and nodded (lost in translation). Upon getting to my room, I soon realized they had been telling me that my key card actually turns on the lights in my room. After several (OK, 10 minutes), of trying to figure out how, I located the thing-a-mig-jiggy by the door (technical term) and inserted my card: voila! Lights! The room itself is sparse, but has all your needs: nice bed, view of beautiful Munich, TV, cupboards, Free Internet (albeit very temperamental) and best of all: lavender sheet spray! I never figured out how to use the rain shower head, but did just fine with the other one that's in there. Hopefully future guests will have better luck. But best of all? The service AND the bar. After having many an expertly mixed cocktail in the hotel bar with my colleagues, I toddled myself over to the Front Desk in a borrowed sweater to inquire if my bag arrived. The (again) sympathetic chap said it hadn't arrived, but if I wanted, he would bring it up to me as soon as it did no matter what time. I eagerly nodded, fearing the worst: I would be arriving to my morning's meetings in sandals. But sure enough, at 4am I opened my door to see my waiting bag. Let's just say it was like Christmas had come early! After going that extra mile, the staff, convenient and beautiful location and clean interior would definitely have me excited to stay at Louis Hotel again. Let's just hope my bags come with me next time!
