I LOVED my cut and color; it had so much dimension and exactly what I wanted! I still got the mushroom effect if I did not painstakingly take an hour to blow dry my hair. I found this salon while searching online near Tyler, TX and surrounding towns. It is very easy to find, located near the Tyler Mall and is next to shopping centers. There was ample parking close to the business. I was greeted immediately when I came through the door by my stylist, Alex. She was finishing up her current client and asked me if I wanted a water or soda while I waited in their comfortable waiting area. They have soft comfortable chairs and couches and reading material on the waiting tables. They also had this cute self love card that had little comments such as "you are loved", "you are beautiful", etc which I thought was a nice touch. Their single bathroom is clean and bright with cute decorations. The decor in the styling area was modern abstract with crazy cool triangle mirrors. While the decor and ambiance of a business is great and all, it is also great that the place was clean. The floors were very clean and all the stylists there were sure to clean up and sanitize as well. Alex was very nice and social, she knew exactly what she was doing and I felt confident in her styling. She was also always asking me if I was comfortable or needed anything which was wonderful. I am not a big talker when getting my hair done since I always get super sleepy when someone is messing with my hair LOL. I had biolage done and a trim which took about 2.5 hours. Very happy with the coloring and trim. One of my favorite things about this salon was the rinsing sinks and the neck support. It was so nice to have a proper neck support that did not make my neck hurt bad afterwards. Definitely going back!!!

(Ended up using a private person who did an excellent job, but she's not in Tyler. I also gave her a very large tip--half the cost of the haircut. This time, however, I don't feel like driving a long distance.) The BlowOut advertises they cut and style hair. Supposedly, they don't just do blowouts. I was relatively new to Tyler when I called The BlowOut looking for someone to cut my hair. BlowOut didn't answer their phone. Perhaps they expected me to text or use FB. Who knows? I don't read minds. Since their location isn't far from my home, I thought I'd drive over midday. I wasn't expecting a walk-in appt. I just wanted to schedule a hair cut. I'd come back later that week or the next. No one came out when I entered their place of business. I waited awhile. Finally, a woman appeared, and I told her I wanted to schedule a haircut. She didn't look enthused. "Oh, well," she said. (Long pause.) "Let me get you the number of _____. She does hair cuts." I felt put off as if I was an annoyance, not a potential customer. The vibe was not positive, and frankly, I left with my feelings hurt. This woman, in my opinion, wasn't professional. I'm older and not cute with bouncy vibrant hair. Obviously not there for a Brazilian Blowout. I lived in a big city for 27 years, and this isn't how hair salons work in larger cities. Salons answer their phone. No one tells you, "Oh call so and so." (In other words: We can't/won't help you. Now go away, I'm busy.)
