Rachel called my doctor unbeknownst to me with their concerns and a few hours later I was having an emergency fasciotomy on my thigh. I had no idea what to expect after the MUA, but do to their professionalism and unbelievable concern for me, this phone call and quick action actually saved my leg. Have dealt primarily with Rachel, think the world of her and would recommend her to anyone. Have also dealt with Sarah, the principal, she shares her vast knowledge openly, think the world of her also and can't leave Kylie out, a twin of her mother who I also met. Kylie also shared her knowledge with me and was on multiple occasions the strong arm of the forced bends. In all seriousness these folks are absolutely the best, will always have a special place in my heart for their caring and professionalism. Rachel you are the best, go Chiefs

There was about a week of 'grind' but overall a very positive but slow experience. Also a salute to my orthopedic, Dr. Peer, who is also 5 Star worthy!

I had to force the issue of effectively treating the situation and it still took them 10 days before they bothered to do the correct treatment that should have been done on postop day 2. This borders on malpractice. Secondly, when I was asked, I told them that I expected to be walking without a cane after surgery. I had been forced to use a cane for about 5-6 years prior to surgery due to safety concerns and the need to preserve what I could of being able to use the knee. My expectation of being able to walk normally was completely ignored. Instead, when I tried to walk without the cane, I was told to keep using the cane. This continued throughout my entire time in rehab. Somehow they thought that using the cane was going to help me be able to walk without it. Even I don't think that's right!! This means that I couldn't really walk when they decided to dismiss me from their care. They didn't care about getting to the correct place; all they cared about was that I could stand and waddle around a little with the cane. That is not good rehabilitation. It is coming up on a year since my surgery and I still cannot walk normally because they never appropriately addressed the problems in my hips that were caused by the use of the cane. Basically they expected me to figure it out on my own. I am going to have to go to a different doctor (not one who is part owner of this facility) and a different PT place in order to get proper medical care. I find that disgusting. I will never recommend this PT facility to anyone. At this point I am unsure if I will ever be able to return to my sport. They do not care about performance. Do they even know what that word means? They only care about money.

There are times in your life when you go to a place without much expectation, and walk away with a…read morepositive experience you will never forget. I was in a situation where I thought I would need surgery and having physical therapy was the last gasp effort for that not to happen. I'd already been to a chiropractor that had been as useful as a chocolate fireguard so my faith was pretty low. Even after my first visit I was sold on what Brenda could do for me and that it would actually help. I was given straight forward explanations on my condition and a medical common sense approach. Throughout the few months I spent going to physical therapy I actually got better so it is safe to say that I bought into the coffee that Brenda was selling. (Not the decaf though, that would suck). At the moment I feel great and am 99.9% sure surgery isn't in my future. Now don't get me wrong, you don't go there for an hour and come out feeling like Superman, working through an injury is hard work. Also, if you don't do your exercises at home, it isn't going to work. I did get to the point where I actually enjoyed going to physical therapy, the team is really polite, have a great sense of humor and genuinely want to help you get better. Thank you! :-)

I showed up a bit early and Sydney (my Occupational Therapist) was already there expecting me. She was very patient and helpful in finding the right one for me at the lowest possible cost. She also made sure I knew how to take the splint off. She also took time to explain how my injury was healing, so that I knew why I had to have the splint on 100% of the time over the next few weeks. The benefits coordinator (?) Sarah was also great, she had to stay on the phone with the insurance company while helping another patient check in as she came in. No one wishes to have to have PT or OT, but if you do, then SERC is the place to ensure a positive experience for you.

Last summer I took a nasty spill on my mountain bike that resulted in my snapping my right arm in…read morehalf, shattering my elbow, and shooting a bone fragment out of the back of my arm. Obviously, it was a serious wreck that did serious damage. After my reconstructive surgery, my orthopedic surgeon sent me to Select Physical Therapy to begin the long process of getting my arm back. This was good fortune because I landed in the care of Stephanie Deruy, the talented physical therapist who works at the 135th Street location. After establishing my baseline condition with a series of measurements and tests, Stephanie worked with me for nearly four months on stretching and strengthening my arm. Physical therapy presents a unique challenge in that it requires the application of pain to produce appropriate improvement. Stephanie managed this balancing act of pain and improvement quite well, which resulted in a consistent recovery of functionality. Her assessments were realistic and encouraging, always focused on the next appropriate step to take to increase my range of motion and rebuild strength. It's now been over five months since my accident, and there's still more to do, but my recovery is proceeding apace in no small part due to Stephanie's professional efforts. She provided me with a solid base on which to continue my therapy on my own. I highly recommend Stephanie (and thus Select Physical Therapy) to anyone who is looking to recover from a severe orthopedic injury.

I had a great experience here at Select Physical Therapy. I had a prescription for 6 weeks, but…read moreonly needed to go 4 weeks. On my first visit my therapist was out so another one filled in, and she did some strength and flexibility tests to determine what my course of treatment would be to heal me. On my 2nd visit I met Stephanie, who was my physical therapist. We ran through my exercises and stretches and just within a week I noticed a significant difference. She added some balance techniques and some additional strengthening exercises. She also measured my pain versus what it was the week prior. She decided on a course of exercises to add and set up a schedule to see her. The following visits I started in the Planet Fitness Gym to warm up and then would come over and exercise. Each session she would increase the difficulty. She also had a trainee from a local physical therapy college under her tutelage, and had the student help with my exercises and massage afterwards. I would also get ice for my knee after the exercise an massage. After four weeks, Stephanie remeasured my flexibility and strength and determined that I was strong enough to stop physical therapy and return to normal activity, if I wanted to. She said I had a prescription for six weeks but it was my decision if I wanted to continue with the other two weeks or just return to normal activity. I found this to be extremely professional. Some physical therapist in my opinion would have their patients continue the full prescription. Stephanie being honest and professional felt I was strong enough to return to normal activity and gave me the choice if I wanted to continue or stop therapy. When I graduated physical therapy I even got a T-shirt for completing the course. I thought this was extremely fun and a great way to celebrate my completing my course. The only reason I don't give them five stars, is I'm a little bit of a germ freak. They do spray down the tables after every person, but only the tops. When I would exercise on my side, I would actually grab underneath the table to hold myself in position. I noticed they didn't spray the underside or sides of the table. I would have liked to have had some hand sanitizer in the general area to use. But that's just my personal preference. Otherwise the therapy center is extremely professional, everyone is very nice, and they treat you like family. I highly recommend them.
