I've been going to Baboush for years, and it remains one of my favorite restaurants! The food is flavorful and delicious. The restaurant is beautiful and ornately decorated, creating a great ambiance. I removed a star because the menu has shrunk and no longer includes some of my favorite dishes. Found this location last minute and was worth the try. I had the falafel appetizer not sure what the white sauce was but it was so good I ended up using it on my entree as well. I also had a vegetarian dish as my main which was so delicious I love the presentation but I would definitely be back. My partner and I always make sure to get seated at Randa's table because of her excellent service and her vibrant personality! You can't go wrong with the cocktails here either, the blackberry seduction is my all-time favorite and probably one of the best cocktails I've ever had. Their kofta is so juicy and tender and the apricot wrings are a classic. If you end up getting dessert you have to get the Baklava bowl. They also have hooka and outdoor seating if that's your vibe. Randomly walked in with the family at an off-peak time, and just LOVED everything about the experience. We had: the beef filet kabob, the babaganoush, the beef cigars, the Turkish tea, and the Turkish coffee. All of it was pretty enjoyable, and the beef items in particularly were just so well executed. The kabob was very juicy and tender. The "cigar" was beautifully fried to a crisp with a very nicely seasoned beef mince filling. I believe Ali was our waiter, and he made us feel very welcome. Came here to meet a friend for dinner. Typically I call ahead and ask restaurants whether their servers are masked (we are currently in a covid surge), but this time I didn't. It always bewilders me when you walk into a restaurant and they have hand sanitizer laid out encouraging you to use it and use a QR code at the table, but the staff is not masked. Sanitizer and QR codes are nice, but covid is an airborne virus so you can do all the sanitizing you want, but masking is the only effective means of stopping the spread of respiratory particles (whether you are vaccinated or not). What's funny is that patrons kept walking in to pick up their food that they had ordered for takeout and they were all masked and looked uncomfortable when the maskless staff approached them. Anyway, once I got over that safety concern, we ordered food to share including a mezze plate, lamb and chicken kebabs. The mezze plate was pretty good with the yogurt being my favorite part and the lamb kebabs were delicious. I was not impressed with the chicken. Likely won't be back here anyway due to lack of safety protocols! read more

I'm not gonna lie, I was a little wary about trying Baboush because Dallas didn't strike me as somewhere to get Moroccan/Mediterranean food. This is a little hidden gem! Everything on the mezza platter was delicious and the staff was very attentive. I got it as my main course, and I was full without even finishing the platter. I'm now a falafel lover! I will definitely be coming here again before my trip is over. The only negative I can even think of has to do with the option of having a hookah. We're obsessed with their sampler platter which serves our family of 7 as an appetizer (with an order of extra bread to go with it since you know, 7 people). We LOVE their chicken kabab plate! It's incredibly flavorful and perfectly seasoned (and spice level is definitely tolerable for those who can't tolerate very spicy food). Also, it comes with amazing garlic and red sauce, rice, and vegetables. Definitely a meal to be savored! Their shawarma is excellent, although a little non traditional because the chicken comes on the plate, with pita on the side. Desserts are phenomenal as well, although a bit pricey for the portion. Actually I did not expect them to have a brunch at all, but they do a bunch of great egg dishes and mix in the diversity of the cuisine with Americanized favorites. Excellent Moroccan décor and nice seating to kick it outside on a sunny day. The service was wonderful too, very friendly and accommodating. You can get fancy and order a dish like the chicken or steak shawerma or keep it traditional during brunch and get a simple veggie omelet with feta and a side of fresh fruit. The hummus was delicious, as well as the fresh warm pita bread. I could actually make a meal out of that alone. So this was a get together with friends, there were only four of us. It started off good. They seated us immediately, even though it was pretty crowded. The ambiance was nice, and we even scored a check-in glass of wine. The server was able to get our order in pretty quickly. Then three of us got our food in a timely manner, however the last guy, oh boy. Not sure what happened there. He got his food after while, then it was overcooked, so he sent it back, big mistake. There was a table next to me and my friend ...which held the most beautiful, impeccably well dressed humans that walked into that restaurant that night. Trust me...I was swiping my eyes towards them when I could bc all of their outfits were so so dope. Next to this table was a couple dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. Next to that couple was another couple...the woman was wearing skinny jeans with holes at the knees, white Adidas kicks and a t-shirt and her husband was matching. The owner stopped and chatted it up with them for a while. Another family with ppl wearing jeans and t-shirt....NONE of whom the owner reprimanded for their FAR more casual outfits than their signage indicated they should have been wearing. But, remember that first table, with the impeccably dressed folks? Well, this asshole of an owner...AFTER this table has already ordered drinks, appetizers and their entrees .... Decides to come over and tell this BEAUTIFULLY coiffed man....that he needs to put on an oversized, wrinkled Baboush *TSHIRT* over his top. Why?? Bc the beautiful dark brown knit sweater top...which had a slight draped cap ...was "sleeveless." Y'all...this man was TAILORED. His shoes were... Let's just say...you'd notice them and snap in appreciation if you saw them. He had tailored black slacks on. He was ON POINT. He was dressed better and fancier than ANY OTHER man in that establishment. He was dressed better than the OWNER. I. was. up-set. I quite loudly told the man that his outfit was wonderful and that he shouldn't have to cover up. It was so so so upsetting to see. And let's be honest, this was a Black man who this owner targeted. So I'm gonna go ahead and call this what it was. A racist power grab...and it was disgusting. Not to mention..their hummus was bland, their lamb was too salty, their rice was dry, their date salad was awfully imbalanced, their vegetables were overcooked.... This is a great spot for a romantic date night with great food, ambiance, and service. I have been a few times and each time am reminded why this place always pops in my head when trying to determine which Mediterranean restaurant my wife and I should go to. The hummus (among several other spreads that you can get with a platter), pita bread, chicken and kofta kebabs are my go to meals. The veggies always perfectly cooked on the grill and the couscous is so soft and fluff, something I simply can't seem to replicate at home. The bar serves good cocktails and generous wine pours. They have a decent happy hour as well! The only drawback is the price. Its a bit higher than expected so its not a place that I am going to be able to eat at regularly but as I mentioned for a date or nice meal this is a great choice.
