Chicken shawarma
Erica K.

I came with a large group and we were all really impressed with the live music (oldies) amazing food and ambience. The chicken kabobs were juicy and the saffron rice was the most flavorful version I've ever tried. Truth is, I wasn't even hungry when I went, I planned to box it up for the next day but it was soooo good I ate it all immediately;) so much for the diet;) we all said that we would like to come back- so that's the review of 6 people.

THIS IS A SOLID 3.5 STAR RESTAURANT. Which means it's a good restaurant. I just can't round up to a 4, because I didn't think it was a GREAT restaurant for ME. I felt food was pricy and quantity lacking. Unfortunately, this is not a restaurant where you order family style. More of a 1 dish per person place. Which is different than how other Mediterranean restaurants tend to do it. Which is fine, just not my preference. Here's what we got: Appetizers: - meza plate: solid appetizer with plenty of things. I particularly loved the Hummus. My wife and our friends really liked the muhammara. - Roasted cauliflower: pretty good. Liked the sauce that it came with. Entrees: - Chicken Shish Kebab($25): the server recommended this dish as their top seller. I don't believe him. This chicken was dry and nothing to ring home about. It was honestly something that I felt I could have at a local Turkish restaurant for $14. Would not recommended. - Kofta Kebab($29): pretty good. We liked this. Kebab was cooked well. - Apricot lamb couscous($37): A traditional dish that we all enjoyed. Slight sweet taste to it, but not overwhelming at all. Dessert: - Baklava Bowl($18): delicious. The fruit and ice cream really complemented the baklava. Would recommend. There's street parking around the restaurant, otherwise, a 3 story parking garage in the back.

Quaint, little Mediterranean spot & hookah lounge on the outside of west village! Their chicken kebab and shawarma are phenomenal. I also recommend the Mezza plate with all the apps and a bottle of wine to start! It's cozy and comfy in here and not typically too packed so you don't need a reservation. Great location and delicious food

Chef's Hummus from Baboush

Grabbed lunch here today. I cannot wait to go back for another meal. Not only was the service top notch, Mahmuod gave us A+ attention, the meal was great. The chef's Hummus was by far the best I have ever had. Crazy fresh ingredients and the portion was such a deal. We ordered the "beef cigars" and split an order of the beef shawarma dish. I highly recommend the beef shawarma. The beef was tender and perfectly medium rare. so flavorful. Drinks were never empty. Let's talk dessert. The baklava was simply amazing. We skipped the ice cream version and just went with the basic version. I will order an extra to take home the next time I visit. Thank you Baboush and Mahmuod for making this such an awesome experience. Highly recommend, will be back soon!

Baboush is a charming and inviting spot tucked away in the West Village area. During the day, the atmosphere is warm and earthy, with friendly and welcoming service. As evening approaches, the vibe becomes more romantic and cozy. We had the Mezza plate, which offered a variety of flavorful bites--each one better than the last. The lamb with couscous was another standout: tender, well-seasoned, and not too gamey (just the way I like it).

The best Mediterranean restaurant I've tried since I arrived in the USA. We tried several dishes and everything was exquisite. The Mezza plate lets you taste classic Mediterranean antipasto-style dishes, all delicious. For my main dish, I ordered a vegetarian plate based on couscous with roasted vegetables, which also had an incredible flavor. I highly recommend it.

I couldn't have asked for better service from Muhammed. He was excellent. Food was also incredible. We had: Lamb hummus - perfection. I didn't realize how much I liked lamb, it was perfectly seasoned Harissa and apricot wings - I loved the flavor, they weren't spicy at all. More sweet. Chefs kiss. Chicken kabobs - great flavors, chicken was very tender The ambiance is also really great. I loved the music and decor. Felt like I was transported somewhere in the Mediterranean region!

Baboush offers authentic Mediterranean food in the heart of uptown Dallas. Parking can be limited but they have some street parking and there is a parking garage nearby as well. The food was delicious they offer a full menu from appetizers, small plates, and main entrees. Some of the highlights were the hummus, flafael, and the lamb racks. They have some outdoor seating which we opted to do but they have a beautiful dining room area for you to enjoy as well. This is a great spot to get some delicious Mediterranean restaurant. I will be back again.

Baboush has been on my want to try list for quite a while and I was glad to finally try it. Inside, the atmosphere is small and cozy with live music when we went. We started off with drinks and the chef's hummus. The hummus was fantastic and I would recommend it. For drinks, we got the blackberry seduction and lebanese nights. I felt that the blackberry seduction was pretty good but the other one tasted pretty much like juice rather than well mixed cocktail. We then got the lamb rack and kofta kebabs. Both were well made and flavorful but I felt that there was not enough food/it wasn't good enough for the price you pay. I did throughly enjoy the rice that came with the kebabs. Overall, Baboush was a fun place that I am glad I tried but I didn't feel that the value was good enough for me to want to come back.

One of the top five meals of my life. So delicious, wish I could have eaten more but glad I got to take home leftovers. Very nice staff as well. Cool music and vibes.

It's hard to get lamb right, but this lamb was great! Service was attentive and kind and the ambiance is very cute; they offer hookah that I did not get to partake in. Inside is set up beautifully and you can tell a lot of effort was put into the detail. I have been to Morocco. This felt and tasted like the restaurants back in Marrakech. The only reason I did not give it a 5/5 was because some dishes will come garnished with nuts that don't usually have nuts, which made it so that I couldn't have it. I probably should have mentioned my allergy, but putting that menu items have nuts - even if it means it will just be garnished on top, goes a long way. I was able to remove the pine nuts on the lamb which made me happy, meaning they can accommodate food allergies. The menu isn't very extensive, as they become more popular I hope they can add to it. The food is prepared very well. Can't wait to come back and try the preserved lemon chicken.

Both were delicious, but the Mockingbird was the clear winner for us. The O Sole Mio definitely brings the heat, so it's perfect if you enjoy a spicy kick! While we were waiting, we were chatting about what we ordered on a previous visit, and a waiter named Victor overheard us and jumped in with some recommendations which turned out to be fantastic. Once seated, our waitress Adrian took over, and she was absolutely phenomenal. To start, we had the charred octopus and the za'atar focaccia(the serving is huge) both were incredible. For mains, we shared the white amatriciana, which was slightly salty for our taste but still enjoyable. The true star of the night, though, was the wagyu short rib, it literally melted in our mouths. From start to finish, the service was exceptional. Everyone, from the host and bartender to the food runners and busser checked in on us, making the experience feel thoughtful and attentive. Huge shoutout to Adrian for her service and Victor for his spot-on recommendations. We hadn't been back in a while, and we couldn't stop talking about it all night. Would've been much better balanced with more soda/seltzer water. The hummus brisket pastrami appetizer was solid. Really liked the caramelized onions with the hummus and pastrami. The bread was fluffy and really good, just wish they gave more than two pieces. Meat could've been hotter though. My wife got the seafood paella. Decent overall with large shrimp and mussels. She enjoyed it. The lamb shank was the huge miss for me, especially at around $40. It looked substantial at first, but the actual edible meat portion was pretty small. Most of it was dry, tough, and under-rendered around the connective tissue. For a Mediterranean restaurant, a slow-braised lamb dish should be a slam dunk, especially after it was recommended by our waitress. Service was average overall. We ordered additional drinks, but our water never got refilled during the meal. I'd probably come back if I was already in the area, but I'd stick to kebabs or other grilled items next time.

Based on the taste, we got two glasses of what he recommended. When we received our check, a glass was 33$! That's 66$ for two glasses of mediocre wine less than 40$/ bottle @ Total Wine (yes, we looked it up!). I think as a server, if you're offering customers a taste- you should ask for a price point in addition to what varietals we enjoy. Don't get me wrong, we can afford 33$ but, to feel like we got cheated into it, doesn't feel good. We ordered a few things from each section: Snacks: Tirokafteri 14.50 Cold Mezze: Yellow Beets 17.50 Warm Mezze: Roasted Cauliflower 17.50, Octopus 23.25 Mediterranean Specialities: Eggplant Schnitzel 25.50 Food was below mediocre. Spicy feta dip & beets were the only dishes we tolerated. Pita bread came out hot, dip was warm but a bit too much olive oil drizzle. Yellow beets were tasty, it sat on a bed of red beet puree and sprinkles of pistachios. Roasted Cauliflower wasn't impressive. Came out barely warm, and the hummus that it sat on was all too oily. Octopus was a bust, cold and the xato sauce was extremely fishy, reminded me of Vietnamese fish sauce. Eggplant was barely warm, arugula had salt poured over it. Very disappointing experience, unfortunately. Not worth the price point- got all mediocre vegetarian dishes and left with a 230$ bill.
