What a wonderful hidden gem in a small tourist town that is often overrun by literally boat-loads of people! Actually stumbled across this place on a side street coming down from the Greek Theater. Turns out the place is actually a language school, with rooms to let, and they serve light meals out in the garden under the fruit trees. The staff was kind and welcoming, and the food was simple - but amazing. I had the fried calamari, Carol had the pasta in a pesto sauce. And I sampled a local red wine that was excellent as well.
The grassy area was pretty 'buggy' the day we were there. Maybe a table on the patio would be better, though when we arrived, most of these were being used for Italian lessons.
But besides the very good food, it was really nice to find a quiet place away from the crowds, carnival barkers, and tacky souvenir stores. A small glimpse of real Taormina, perhaps? read more
