They cut the sandwich in two halves before wrapping it up, which helps if you are sort of hungry while walking...you can easily grab a half and save the rest for later on. I got the coronation chicken on bap bread the first day. FYI "bap" bread is just a soft white round roll. It's quite tasty, so much so that I got a sandwich the following day on it too. You can also get a sandwich on a baguette. The coronation chicken is pretty much curried chicken salad. It has raisins in it and lots of curry powder. Very good. The following day I got the smoked salmon and cream cheese and asked that they add cucumber. Cost £2.30. Holy ridiculous. $2.80 when converting. Even shitty cheap sandwich Subway is more expensive than that and it's shitty. Not sure how their prices are so low, but the smoked salmon was amazing and I felt like I spent pretty much nothing on lunch. Also get a flapjack. It's a brown sugar oat cake that is semi- healthy (oats) and super amazing (caramel).

First off, the lovely people that run the shop always greet you with a smile, which as we all know is very important. And they serve everybody quickly and efficiently no matter how chaotic it gets. But you can ring ahead to have food ready for you when you get there (very handy for those dirty Fat Friday sandwiches!) and I'm pretty sure they do food for offices and functions etc (but don't quote me on that!). Most importantly though, the sandwiches are bloody lovely! The breakfast butties are cracking - I go for a sausage, bacon and black pudding butty with ketchup. The meat in that is great, but the black pudding is just perfect! And the lunch sandwiches are just as good. There's loads of fillings, hot and cold, and there's plenty of salad options that you get at no extra cost. My personal fave is the chinese chicken, which is nice and creamy! But they also do things like salad boxes, paninis, wraps and a cracking selection of cakey things like flapjacks and chocolate brownies. As you can probably gather, I love this place! The people are lovely and the food is amazing and reasonably priced. Get on it!! Oh and check out the picture of the Festive Feast sandwich! I'm not sure whether it's just that FHK is a new venue, or that it was mid-afternoon on a Monday, but either way the place was quiet. Upside? We got a table immediately and there wasn't a queue for food. The first thing I noticed whilst going up to order food is that there's a good range of teas and coffees available on display by the counter, presumably for you to select from if you wish. I didn't; I ordered a standard issue cappuccino for me, and the g/f wanted a latte. Both drinks came in decent sized cups, and my cappuccino was great. Good ratio of coffee-milk-foam, and a caramelised biscuit on the side to boot. On the food front, I ordered a croque monsieur and the lady opted for a sandwich called "Get your goat, you've pulled" which was a goats cheese and salad toasted sandwich. Both sandwiches came with a little bowl of side salad, which was average (bit too heavy on cucumber for my taste, as I don't like it) but that wasn't the main attraction. The croque monsieur was great. Cheesy, crunchy toasted bread, with a good amount of ham and a fried egg melting through the sandwich; it was just the pick-me-up I needed after a fair bit of walking about Kendal. T'other half seemed equally happy with her choice of sandwich. At just shy of £20 for both of us, it wasn't the cheapest, but for somewhere using artisan and local produce that's not too bad. Overall, for a new place on the block, I'd say they're off to a good start. I'll definitely be back in again in future.
