I was referred to BA Jones by Ed Newman, CPA because he was drowning in PPP payroll things from his clients so without giving it a second thought I called BA. At first she was surprised by my number because I have a CA area code but as soon as I explained my situation, she warmed up. Before calling her I had booked some time for me to come into her office and meet her (which I gave her the heads up about during my call). I explained that I had been audited by the IRS on my 2018 tax return and she was fantastic at walking me though what I needed to do, first and foremost, requesting an extension (which the IRS immediately honored). Fast forward to today, I just left her office with my husband and I am SO excited to work with her on all my tax/business needs for the future. If you ever have the pleasure of sitting down and have a conversation with her, you will immediately get the sense of how intelligent, wise and on top of things she is - definitely want someone like this advocating for you and your business. She didn't charge us for our meeting today because she said that we were getting to know each other but honestly, I would have paid just to have heard her impart the wisdom that she did. We left with a game plan and are planning on connecting again in a couple weeks once I gather all the documents I need to send over to the auditor. To wrap up, I can see how the last reviewer thought she may have come across as rude BUT she really isn't...AT ALL...I would say she's very no nonsense and to the point and if you let her know up front that you're looking for a CPA and someone to work with in the long run, the conversation will go very well and you'll get way more than you expected. Also she's most definitely the type of person that you should take the time to get to know IN PERSON vs over the phone or via video call...at least for the very first meeting. I'm actually flabbergasted by the way I was treated. Here is my story, I have always done my taxes myself but this year ran in to a scenario where I needed some help. I was looking for someone to, not do my taxes for me, but provide me some advice and charge me a fee for that advice. I did a simply Google search of local tax preparers / CPA's and I came across the website for BA Jones. When i went to the contact portion of the website there were a number of interesting options form making an in person appointment to a 30 minute phone call to a 15 minute phone call. I booked a 15 minute call for two days later and I just had my call. I was first grilled on why someone from a (732) area code would be calling. I'm not sure why I needed to explain that but I only live minutes from BA Jones office. Then I explained my scenario and ultimately my tax question. I then was asked why I would expect free advice as a TurboTax customer. I explained that I was able to book a phone call where I fully expected to pay for tax advice. BA tells me she wouldn't be comfortable giving advice to someone she doesn't know and never met. I said I would gladly come in and ask my question and show her my documents. I explained I don't work for free and wouldn't expect her to. I explained to her that her website surely doesn't give the impression that only current customers can book a phone call. I told BA that I apologized if I was not following her process and was just a guy trying to get some tax advice and pay or it. A business person has never made me feel so badly, like I was pulling something over on her, when I wanted to pay would be pretty accurate. Regretfully, I think BA felt she was being taken advantage of and my intent was to pay. Sorry if my use of TurboTax offended you BA but this is 2018. You were less than nice and actually fairly rude and I could never recommend someone like her. Perhaps a review of your website and the impression it gives someone is due. read more
