When I remember to make my annual checkup with enough notice, I meet with Dr. Katz. Otherwise, I have met with several of his nurse practitioners. I have been pleased with my interactions with Dr. Katz and the nurse practitioners, who I feel all listen to me, provide updates in a thoughtful manner, and follow-up afterwards with any referrals or prescriptions. There is an automated system that can connect people with the front desk, voicemail system, or provide other system as need be. When you're speaking with the front desk, they are quite helpful whether they answer questions or help schedule or reschedule an appointment. Any paperwork is submitted and charges are made in advance or following the appointment so that you do not need to worry about either while you're checking in for your appointment. Any bloodwork is done in the office instead of going to a separate location (as they used to do a few years back). Needless to say, it's very convenient to work with the Paradise Valley Family Medicine office. As for Dr. Katz and the nurse practitioners, they have gone out of their way to make calls, do research, and follow-up with me between appointments to ensure that I am taken care of whether it is a sleep study, having a prescription be honored, or even having a prescription successfully make it to the nearby pharmacy. They use a portal, which is easy for sharing test results, visit summaries, or sending messages back and forth. Get offer primary care, well child exams, well woman examinations, annual physicals, sports and camp physicals, adult and pediatric immunizations, preventative health care, and pre-operative clearance. To see Dr. Katz or another doctor, make an appointment about a month in advance. You can see a nurse practitioner about two weeks in advance, and they are wonderful! I have enjoyed working with Brooke and Allison in the past. They are typically open Monday through Thursday from 8 AM to 5 PM and on Friday from 8 AM to 12 noon. Holiday hours differ a bit. All in all, I'm glad to go to the Paradise Valley Family Medicine and recommend them to anyone needing a primary care physician.

The two recent issues were important to find answers but was pretty much dismissed. First was bloodwork relating to high kidney reading, he told me it was not bad and nothing to worry about. I ended up at a nephrologist and was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. Second issue was severe headaches with eyeball pain. Without any testing he said they were migraines and prescribed medication. I recently was diagnosed with Eye Orbital lymphatic/venous congestion and pinched nerve/artery. The migraine medication does NOT treat the cause.

When I first arrived, I was greeted by Yazmin. My only concern was that before reviewing my insurance, I was told I had a $30 copay. I explained that my insurance covers one annual preventive physical at no cost and asked if she could double-check. After speaking with her supervisor, she confirmed that I was correct and that I didn't owe a copay. I appreciated that she took the time to verify it, but I think checking insurance benefits before requesting payment would make first impression smoother. After that, everything was wonderful. Juliana, the medical assistant, was absolutely amazing. She immediately made me feel comfortable, especially since I was there for a physical and Pap smear and hadn't been to a doctor in a little over three years. She was kind, reassuring, and made me feel comfortable. She checked my vitals, blood pressure, oxygen level, and weight, and let me know that everything looked good overall, which really eased my anxiety. She did mention that because my appointment was later in the day, they might not be able to complete my Pap smear or lab work, since those are usually scheduled earlier. When I explained that I had specifically requested a physical, lab work, and a Pap smear when I made my appointment three weeks earlier, she immediately looked into it. Dr. Lillo was absolutely fantastic. Once he was informed of the situation, he made accommodations to fit everything in during my visit instead of making me come back. I truly appreciated his willingness to make it happen. One of the highlights of my visit was having my blood drawn by Azure. (Never thought I would say that) Anyone who gets nervous about blood work knows how much this matters. Azure has incredibly gentle, feather-light hands. Before I knew it, she had found my vein, drawn my blood, and was done. I honestly didn't feel a thing. It was one of the easiest and most painless blood draws I've ever had. The appointment itself was quick; in the best way. As we say in Spanish, it was a true "doctor's visit": efficient, thorough, and straight to the point. I left feeling heard, cared for, and grateful for the entire team. I'll be returning for my lab results, a breast exam, and another consultation to discuss a healthy plan for my weight. I genuinely look forward to continuing my care here. Overall, I'm very happy with my experience and would highly recommend this office.
