The food quality, preparation and presentation were exemplary. I would say I was somewhat surprised by the restaurant's casual décor, that only two staffers worked the tables and the pacing of dishes often was delayed. My daughter and I ordered the wine pairings. After your glass was filled, they leave the bottle on the table with a napkin on top. We didn't know that this bottle was there to be simply admired. We felt the pours we received were very shallow. We thought it was there to refill our glasses. We learned quickly from one of the servers that was not the case. It was an embarrassing situation that caused us to leave the restaurant before our dessert was served. When I explained the situation to our server, she made no effort to remedy the misunderstanding. Our check came to $500 Euros.

The staff here are very nice and friendly albeit slightly aloof and the service is spot on. The food however is pretty uninspiring and I couldn't really tell the difference between the courses. Modern German inspired cuisine is the theme here but I must admit it was disappointing. Have eaten in tons of 2 star restaurants in Germany including the second one in Frankfurt this place would be at the bottom of the list for me. The best part of the meal was the amouse bouche and the waffles in the end. The rest was similar sauce with different additions and quite rich and fatty. I felt my sugar levels rise significantly. Never been to a restaurant at this level where there is no bread to mop up the juices on the plate. The generosity of the kitchen left a lot to be desired and jumping straight from the fatty and super rich duck straight to dessert meant the taste of the dessert was not at all felt. A palette cleanser would have made that so much better. This is the first time at a Michelin restaurant I did not finish my meal despite being hungry. The vegetarian menu was also pretty uninspired and none of us at the table enjoyed our meal. I don't think I would come back here again. I expect so much more from a restaurant at this level. Looks and service is good but for me it is all about the food.

Unlike most of the restaurants in this hipster neighborhood, Solzer offers traditional German fare, and we started with Handkäs' mit Musik, a chewy, mochi-like cheese dressed with vinegar and onions and served with a slice of farmer's bread. One of their signature entrees was "Solzer's Krüstchenschnitzel," a breaded pork fillet served over a slice of grilled farmer's bread, topped with a fried egg and bacon, and served with green sauce (sour cream and herbs), horseradish, and a refreshing salad (lettuce, tomato, carrots, red onion, peppers, pumpkin seeds) on the side. This was a nicely balanced plate, and the different components came together nicely from the savory, crispy schnitzel to the herbaceous, creamy green sauce and the acidic, refreshing salad. The patio was open and it really gave the restaurant a nice indoor/outdoor feel. When we first sat down, beers were ordered. As Americans, we're used to ordering a pint. What I noticed, Apfelwein Solzer as well as other pubs are serving very large beers, 1.5 or even 2 pint glasses? Am I complaining? Hello no! For my meal I ordered the Hunters Cutlet with Frankfurt sauce. The sauce is the towns local specialty, it tasted herbaceous, very flavorful and unexpected. The place was packed, we had a great meal and was glad we took the Uber from our hotel. The Uber ride back with the driver doing 200 KPH is another story.

It's very friendly with a…read moresmall menu offering simple fare, but the food is nice They do an excellent Schinkenplatte (plate of different kinds of ham), baked camembert and really good chips, there is also fish on the menu, but I haven't tried that yet. You can't fault its location, overlooking the lake, and you can take a 20 / 30 minute walk round the lake and then sit outside with a glass of wine and feed the carp for a Euro (no throwing your chips in the water, you have to buy the proper food).

We had some business downtown so this was the perfect place to stop for a coffee. We sat close to…read morethe building, which is great because it was a little cool and they have blankets out. This is a gorgeous historical building. We ordered coffee right away, and were hoping to order some cake when the waitress came back. After about 15 minutes when she came out to take another order, I asked about our coffee, and she said it was on the way.. When the coffee finally came it was great, Lavazza, but we decided not to order cake because we didn't want to sit there another hour. I actually asked to pay which also took another 10 minutes. So I can't really talk about the food or the cake, but the coffee was excellent. If you have time and are looking for a fun place to people watch this is it. Of course, it is right on the Hauptwache, so you're in the center of everything. Please also enjoy my video of the church bells, which went on for about five minutes. And last, but not least I just want to mention one more thing. In Germany, a tip is not expected, but you give it when the service is good. Usually people round up to the nearest Euro, or maybe to the next. My mom ended up paying, and rounded up an extra, I hopped in and said to add an extra Euro, because I thought maybe the waitress was having a bad day, the service was certainly not great. . But the waitress got snippy and said she didn't have change for that, threw the ten Euro change bill on the table, and walked away. Maybe they prefer you pay with card?

Decent restaurant at the massive Kempinski hotel complex. Ordered the seasonal white asparagus and…read moresalmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly to a beautiful temperature and reasonably seasoned. The asparagus were soft and delicious. The bread and shaved ham that accompanied the meal with a small tapenade were honestly unexpected but a nice way to start the evening. Certainly a good showing for this hotel restaurant that shows you can get a decent meal without having to leave the premises.
