If you don't want to read into my review, this place is indeed AWESOME ! Whether you just arrive at the LB airport or just passing by looking for a good sushi place. This place was recommended by a local resident who has been living in Long Beach for a long time. This place gets local customers all the time. I have been this place five plus times and I'd like to give this place a review. Food: I love the Salmon Collard as appetizer. If you like Eel, make sure to get their Unagi Sushi and Slot Machine roll. During happy hour, I'd like getting their "Chef Special". I have never had one bad experience with their sushi and freshness is always good. Service: This lady is always there and she's very welcoming. Her staff always makes sure if I need water and if the food tastes okay. They also offer takeouts and there are dedicated windows outside for pickup. Ambiance: The restaurant is located next to a smog place. Please don't get discouraged because the parking lot is clean. I never have issue with parking or with the area in general. The interior is not too small and there's a patio area. The noise from the airplane isn't ear drums blowing loud and planes pass by quickly. I have no issue with that. This place is always my go-to spot when I am in the area. It never disappoints me. read more

Beyond words. Because of the location just off the freeway and unattractive signage, you might pass this place right by, but don't! It's fantastic. Excellent service! This place shouldn't even be considered a sushi restaurant!!! It's AWFUL - NOT AWESOME. The quality of the fish was horrible. They don't use sushi-grade fish. I ordered my food to go. I should've known not to try it when I saw the ginger and wasabi were packaged from a factory. I ate two pieces of my rainbow roll and tossed out the rest, cause it tasted like bad fish and smelled fishy!!! I hope not to get food poisoning from here. I for two hand rolls (the eel avocado and the spicy scallop) and the fire ant roll. The service was great. The staff is very attentive and checked in often. It can get very crowded and we had to wait 10-15 minutes to be seated because we did not have a reservation. The food was delicious. The spicy scallop handroll was recommended by a friend and it was good. I got the unagi avocado roll because I love eel and it was worth it. The fire ant definitely brought some spice in my life like what i wanted. I would highly recommend if you spicy. read more

I've been here several times. It's a tiny place. The beer is always nice and cold. The service is excellent. The staff is friendly and polite. The sushi always tastes fresh. I always order the cucumber salad, the spicy edamame, and the pan fry shishito peppers to start. Highly recommend. read more

Naomi was my spectacular server! The staff of very attentive here. The happy hour sushi is ridiculously inexpensive. The best sweet shrimp that I ever ate. They are huge, don't forget to eat the crunchy heads. Tom and Bill the sushi chefs spoil me with the best sake in the house and they also have saporro on tap. The food was great, served quickly and the staff were incredibly nice. They clearly hustle and care about their work. We had three small kids with us and they were really accommodating. It's a small place wedged between two auto repair shops but it was clean, no car/oil odors or anything. In the Long Beach airport flight path but has ample indoor seating. This was my first sushi spot to eat after not having sushi for a whole 9 months! We ordered it to go and it still tasted fresh. We got three rolls and an appetizer that I'm not sure of the name but it was jalapeño spicy tuna something. The three rolls were all great except the appetizer. It was cooked tuna and just tasted gross to be honest. I couldn't finish my bite so I would recommend skipping that appetizer. I'd be back for the rolls. read more

A high quality sushi experience. The ambiance is a little rough. It is not a Michelin star restaurant with grey tables and metal champagne flutes. Awesome is more like a converted Chili's restaurant with tight tables, a distressed sushi bar and walls decorated with mismatched chotzkies. But the sushi, you cannot argue with the sushi. The FRESHEST cuts of yellowtail, tuna, salmon, and octopus. You can tell it is a great place if the octopus isn't chewy. The octopus here is the best I have ever tasted. They put a little lemon on it and coarse salt. Delicious! It is a fun place. The music is always thumping and it is always a party. If you are lucky, one of the waitresses will do saki bombs with you. FYI, the Yelp check-in deal for a free dessert is no longer available. Came here for dinner on a Sunday night and really enjoyed the food. We got an assortment of rolls, sides and drinks. I can't remember the exact names but I think they were love you roll and 24/7, something of the sorts. They all had an assortment of fish, avocado, cream cheese and sauces and tasted great. The quality of fish was good. For being a hole in the wall next to the freeway, it is quite good and you can't tell from the outside. The waiters were all nice. The only thing we didn't like was the pitcher has a huge ice block in the center to seemingly keep the beer cold, but takes up nearly half the pitcher so it didn't end up being very much beer. The service was efficient and we enjoyed all the food. I would go back! read more

Overall, it's a cool little spot with good customer service but we felt rushed the entire time. It is a smaller restaurant so I could see that they were trying to get people in and out for more business, however, we didn't get to enjoy our time because every two minutes they'd ask if we were done and ready for our bill. We came on a day that had the "awesome hours" so there were some rolls being served at a discounted price. The everyday prices should be the happy hour prices. The sushi was just okay. It tasted blan and we kept comparing it to other spots. The spicy edemame wasn't spicy and lacked flavor. The spicy mayo tasted just like plain mayo. Awesome is an understatement about this place! The service here is the best of any place I dine. The servers acknowledge you by the last order you made, who you were with, and how much fun they had serving you. We love Naomi and JLo, chef and the crew! "You were here last time with your mom, how is she?" A few rolls (recommend: the awesome roll, what else?) maybe a bento box, definitely some sake and beer at this small neighborhood joint and you're set.
