However I put a good 150km on the bike over the French country side and it was fun. Bike was not tuned super well and I had to stop and do a bit of road side adjustment. That said I'm super anal about my own bikes so many people might not have noticed. It would have been nice to have some better bike options but for a small shop this was good enough and I was able to do what I wanted to. Bike shop is a short walk from the train station. I would recommend the shop but skip the Chinese e-bike.

The panniers were dirty on the insides, with dark sticky substance and a horrible smell. My wife's bicycle would not shift properly and on my bicycle the gears were slipping a lot! Regretted not having brought over our own bicycles for this trip. The Canal Du Midi was beautiful though. We especially loved Carcassonne.

The path is flat so there is minimal effort, just watch out for those speeding and the pedestrians who are spatially challenged. A must see when in Toulouse.

Just went down Canal du Midi in September. Canal Du Midi used to be a beautiful waterway enclosed…read moreby alleys of arching Plane trees. Unfortunately, most of the plane trees have died of disease, and there are 5 foot saplings in their place. In addition, the hundreds of boats on the canal dump their sewage directly into the canal. So, you are literally going down a oversized open sewer. It is disgusting.
