Full story: We recently booked a car with Enterprise via Expedia and prepaid with a credit card. The booking was made on fairly short notice (about three hours) but it was confirmed. Half an hour before the pickup time, the Enterprise office in Darmstadt called us to inform us that no cars were available. We were advised to either travel (at our own expense!) to the Enterprise office in Aschaffenburg, some 50 km away, or to wait until the next morning at 10:00 when a car would be available in Darmstadt. We selected the second option and were told that we would receive a call at 9:00 to confirm the booking.
We were not contacted as promised at 9:00 the next morning. At 10:00 we attempted to call the rental office ourselves but there was no answer. Finally at around 11:15 they got in touch with us to let us know that our car had just become available. By then it was too late; we had already made new travel arrangements via Deutsche Bahn.
Enterprise Darmstadt should never have accepted the booking if they weren't able to provide us with the car. We're very disappointed and will avoid this company in the future.
