After looking at reviews on Yelp, we decided to check out Alma Llanera in St Pete. We made the drive and were welcomed when we walked in. They have a great overall selection on their menu, a variety of authentic Venezuelan dishes you can dig in to. Really, we were craving empanadas - but we are eager to try more dishes next time. We ordered three carne mechada empanadas (shredded beef hand pies), one cheese empanada, and two mora natural juices. Each orderaccompanied with a side of their house sauces that compliment the natural on-going flavors of the empanda - a creamy, white garlic sauce (salsa de ajo) and a cilantro based sauce (salsa de cilantro). The moment you sink you teeth into their empanadas, you're brought to a whole new world - A country called Venezuela! You are instantly met were explosive delicious flavors. The outter shell of the empanada has this savory, with a slight hint of sweet flavor. The inner part is stuffed with tender, satuéed shredded beef, you can taste the amazing flavors of the sofrito based meat. I would recommend anyone, someone who has yet to try this place to someone who eats empanadas on a daily basis, to come on and give them a whirl. It's a must try!

The menu is Latin food concentrate on Venezuelan. We got the Pernil Cachapas. It is Venezuelan sweet corn with pork shoulder meat. The meat is hand pulled to stuff in the cachapas. It also melt the fresh Venezuelan white cheese. I recommend this dish. The second dish is the Patacon Steak. It look epic when it bring it out. There are two pieces of fried crispy patacon on top and bottom. The inside is grilled steak with cabbage and sauce. I prefer they have less sauce to make is more desirable. Overall is good. Not all the waitress understand English. The price is high for this area of demographics and location of the plaza.

Pros: Small but…read moreclean cafe. The two ladies were helpful in me deciding what to get. The cafe con leche was very smooth and tasty served in a cute cup with their logo. 4/5 The arepa had a lot of meat and had ketchup and some other sauces. It was very flavorful. 4/5 Misc: The arepa part is a lot more crispy than I'm used to. Cons: Even though they're open on Sunday, they close at 3 pm. Also, the arepa "patties" are small relative to the meat/lettuce filling. I kind of wished they were bigger. There was more meat than arepa lol. Overall: a great , mom and pop place to get Venezuelan street food!

Visiting friends in Tampa and decided to eat at this place with friends who lived in the area;…read moreLocation its nice and clean, but service was rude and rushed by Cuban redhead Server ( she didn't mention her name) since we arrived mentioned that they were closing in 30 min ( we arrived a 7:20 pm ) and restaurant closes at 8pm. While taking a look of the menu, she mentioned again about not taking too long to order because the kitchen was closing soon, this was not even 5 min after giving us the menu ( if you are rushing to close just don't take more people and avoid having a bad attitude or experience ). Food 7 of 10 ( Venezuelan bbq was really good and tasty chorizos were delicious, sides were really well Cooked and flavory, Brazilian picanha was cooked perfect, chimichurri sauce was perfect but amount was very little, and cachapas were the weakest point.. cachapa had an old or musty aftertaste definitely horrible won't recommend it. Price is reasonable, first Venezuelan restaurant that I don't feel is overpriced ( 2 cachapas, 1 picanha 12 oz $52 ) As a former server.. please teach or do training sessions with servers to increase quality and positive outcomes. Food has a huge potential but experiences is what people take at the end of the day!

I got them with pork skewers, which were super fresh. The natural juices were so good and the tequeños were delicious. The service was great, they took really good care of us!
