I have been with Avance Care since it was simply Dr. Tank's office in downtown Clayton. The providers who have been added over the years have been better and better even though Dr. Tank has not been visible on the property for years. This young group of doctors and providers and staff are so helpful and kind to my elderly husband (85) and me (76). They are always willing to cooperate with the specialists we see and work with the chronic conditions we both have. I have been going to Avance Care in Clayton long before it was Avance Care, and I have never had an issue with any of the people. Not the front staff, not the doctors, not the lab techs, not the ladies in the back office. When I first went in, I was in serious health trouble, and Dr. Tank took a lot of time to help me get my health to where it is today. Although I don't see her anymore, I have seen many of the other doctors or PAs, all of whom I have liked. Do I like some more than others? Yes, only human nature. And I do prefer to keep the same one. I think this helps with the doctor-patient relationship. I think all the doctors are good and qualified. I think you just have to find the right fit. I have always felt the doctors had my best interest at heart and really cared about my well-being. If you are looking for a GREAT doctor's office with people who care, then go to Avance Care. But always check if you're in the network, so you don't have billing issues. If you're not, then find out the prices in advance, but don't blame them. If there is a mistake, things happen; people are not perfect. Call, explain nicely, and I assure you they will help you fix it. read more

HORRIBLE office!! LOST BLOOD WORK THREE TIMES IN LESS THAN A YEAR! If I could give a ZERO I would. I went for blood work in August 2022, for them to lose the labs. It was between health insurance coverage and they expected me to pay out of pocket for their mess up. I finally got that resolved after fighting with the office, but ended up with a $5ish bill with a late fee attached to it. When I called the office to ask where this came from I was given the run-around and no one could tell me what the $5 was for and they eventually took off the late fee and I paid the $5. I just returned for a routine physical in April 2023, and I noticed my CBCs, cholesterol, glucose, etc were missing. I had to go back and get more blood drawn for something that should be routine. I go for a virtual appointment so we can discuss the lab results to find that my cholesterol labs, yet again, were not ordered/lost. Then today I get an office bill for a $30 copay. I find out it was for the virtual appointment, that I should NOT have had if they had sent me for lab work before my physical like they were supposed to do, according to the DR. GO anywhere else, but this office!! Horrible! read more

Can't say enough good things about this office... The staff are great, but just know if you have an appt. later than 2;00, you will have a wait. BIG shout out to Dr. Michael Stadiem. He is really wonderful and will listen to you!!! He spends a lot of time with you. He is open to homeopathic treatments. I had a inflammation on my ribs, from an old injury. He has a medical salve, that he rubbed on the affected area. After 10 minutes of massage with this, my pain was gone. He even give website to where I can purchase it. Thanks Doc !!!!! I wish I could give 0 stars. I was told that I had a balance and that I need to call billing to pay. I understand that happens if your insurance doesn't cover all of the visit. The balance was from a recent no-show(I called to cancel and never was canceled) and the rest my insurance didn't cover. All of these were recent charges. When I tried to pay I was told I was already sent to collection! I canceled all future appointments and I'm now searching for a new office. read more

I had a horrible experience and now out of medication I take every day for the last 2 years.

I've already complained about this to office manager before but it's still an ongoing issue. I saw 4 adults in a glassed in office yesterday none wearing masks, all talking in that very small space. One employee behind reception desk had mask under nose. I like my PA so I don't want to change but I am seriously considering it since they don't seem to follow CDC protocol consistently. To the office manager: please don't call me about this review, as you did last time... I've explained it all here. Nothing more to say other than you need to address these issues and fix them. I'm a healthcare executive and highly critical of services I receive. Please accept my 5 star rating and know that your team earned it. No one at the office knows who I am or what I do for work so this curtesy isn't extended because I'm " special" - I go in wearing sweatpants and t-shirts, like every other person in the waiting room..... the front desk staff is always professional and friendly. Sarah Gray, PA-C is absolutely the BEST! She is compassionate and knowledgable and really listens to your concerns. Her nurse is the sweetest and very efficient. My wait times have always been reasonable and I know that I'll be given the time I need as well. The lab tech follows best practice protocols and did a wonder job on my tiny veins. My only concern has been booking appointments through the app , which I understand is being worked on. I had to reschedule something I booked through the app but it wasn't a big deal and I was able to get in within the next 24 hours. They were honest about what happened and I appreciated the transparency. Mistakes happen and when there's accountability and ownership, they usually don't bother me much. We are human and all need grace. People have commented about billing practices - Ive never had an issue with that. I understand how billing works and they are compliant with rules and regulations. They charge in accordance with regulation, nothing shady at all about that. Healthcare is changing and its difficult for offices dealing with insurance companies, they are required to accept your co-pay upfront...... I've found them to be fair and honest. I don't know if this feedback will help anyone with their decision as they seek healthcare in the area but I give them a thumbs up - I transferred to Advance Care from UNC Family Medicine and my husband is transferring to Sarah from Duke Family Medicine. Maybe Dr. Tank is a glorious healer... If you ever get to meet her. I made an appointment online and chose a time; this all seems easy and routine, right? No, sorry. My appointment was cancelled the next day by the front office because that time "was not actually available". I had already plotted my schedule for the day and should send this office a $45.00 cancelation invoice! Two separate calls to reschedule were rudely met with lengthy hold times and a sudden ringout to a dead-end voicemail box. Blah. Seeing the other reviews makes me glad my appointment was actually canceled because I might have ended up in the same limbo these people did. This used to be a great family care facility... When they were on that little side street in Clayton. Then Dr. Tank started paying more attention to Botox, weight loss, vitamins, and god knows what. Now you wait for hours and see a nurse Practioner instead of a Doctor. I have nothing against NursePractioners who are often as knowledgeable as Drs. But each time you go there, you see someone different and they have no clue who you are and you might as well be talking to an android. I have Bronchitis and have to go there today. How to a I give a ZERO???? this place is ridiculous!!! called and made an appointment for first available with a specific MD (appoint. was scheduled for a week ahead!) the lady asked me to complete the online forms. Had several issues with the website and when I called they blamed me! gave an half hour and attempted again, as of now I have received some type of number via email. the forms went through apparently. so now it's time to complete the medical records transfer authorization and QUESS WHAT? when clicking the CORRECT option "i want to request medical record TO BE transfer FROM my primary to AVANCE, i received an automate error saying that they cant find my records. YEAH! of course you dont have my records, I have not yet been at your clinic DUH ! CALLED again and the receptionist said. OHH you dont have to fill in that form, you can do when you come in. so I said, it would be nice to have my records for the MD review when I get there, right? she said, no it takes long to get medical records to be released; so then she asked for b-day, so I told her and asked why she needs by bday. her reply was: you dont have an appointment. Our long time primary care physician recently transferred from Duke to this small clinic. Sadly and infuriating billing office policies require patients to pay upfront for care without honoring your insurance network agreements. It is illegal for a practice regardless of their "policy" to demand upfront payment or place a credit card on file (which is absurd, fiscally irresponsible and potentially fraudulent) disrepecting insurance network negotiated rates, which is what this practice routinely does. The front desk attendant was disrespectful and defiantly stated that "we could do whatever we wanted" in regard to filing a complaint. That "we've been in business 10 years" and we "didn't matter"! The attitude is completely disrespectful of patient care. We will be following up with both the insurance, state board of health and its headquarters. Horrible. In reply, respectfully disagree as you like. The arrogant tenor of your reply is transparent enough to confirm our experience with your practice. The complete disregard in remark or concern for the disrespectful attitude with which your employee treated us also speaks to the level of disregard for patient care. We have NOT experienced other healthcare providers treating us in such manner, nor have we experienced providers demand credit cards on file or deposits for routine well checks, especially well checks 100% covered in network. Even if a physician provides excellent care, the way in which your administrative staff treat your patients is extension of care. Any attitude or disrespect ultimately clouds the trustworthiness of a practice. Thankfully there are providers, unlike yourselves, that do care about the total patient experience and make every effort to respect basic human rights. read more

Really liked this place until I heard them talking about me and laughing about why I was there. Guess they don't realize that you can hear them talking through the exam room doors, though I find it hard to believe they don't know that already. At least wait until I've left the suite...? ‍Will not be going back even though previous experiences were good. After sitting in room for hour and half, the girl came in waved her finger in my face to tell me she couldnt say whether or not I had a concussion. accident happened at work and after giving all info to file under workman comp they filed to me personally, could have filed under my health insurance but they would have had to take lower rates. almost 1400.00 bucks for this girl to wave her finger in my face. these people are hacks. if possible you should attempt to go to a real hospital. avoid getting ripped off. read more

Unfortunately I had the worst experience with this clinic. They messed up the billing and ended up charging us for well visits like if they were outpatient visits when they were not. When I spoke with the practitioner (Mary Katherine Williams) she agreed that it was a mistake but she refuses to correct it so we still have to pay. No responsiveness at all from General manager. Also, they will charge you only for picking up blood test results even if everything is alright and there's nothing to discuss. This seems more a cashier than a clinic. read more

If you want excellent medical care, this is NOT the practice for you! My appointments with Dr. Tank were canceled twice the morning of each. If I, the patient, had canceled without 24 hours notice, I'd receive a cancellation charge. In addition and most importantly .. My son, who had a heart valve replacement in May, required a follow up visit with his PCP after a trip to the ER. When I called to try to schedule an appointment I was told that there was nothing available for 2weeks. I explained the situation and was still told that he could not be seen. What practice doesn't make accommodations for a patient with a cardiac condition? This is unacceptable! We've recently established with a different provider .. happy to have found a PCP that cares. read more

My wife went to this location yesterday for the first time. We normally go to the Knightdale or Ramble rd location, but they did not have an available appointment. My wife had extreme shoulder pain and wanted to have it checked out. She stated the Doctor was asking questions about her job, my job, how many kids we have, who lives in our house etc etc etc... First what does any of that has to do with her shoulder. Second my wife informed Dr Stadiem that she hurt her shoulder while working, and he stated " Oh you are built for working, the worst thing you can do is rest." Needless to say I am furious and will be launching a complaint. Third he wrote her a prescription on notebook paper and told her to go online and buy it!!! I am not sure what is going on with this man, but this racially biased attitude toward my wife will not be accepted. read more

Would not refer me to specialist which is the reason for my third appointment. I was told my visit was $100 since I was a high deductible, Then they double bill me since i have insurance Now they say I need to pay the other $100. I tried the office because of their hours.I would be better taking a hit on my pay and actually seeing a doctor.The nurse that checked me in was less than friendly.Between her tattoos and MK glitzy watch her snotty attitude was off setting.As I was waiting to see the doctor,excuse me PA I heard her in the hall talking about me.Nice. When the PA came in followed by some woman I asked who she was.Oh that's my scribe she takes my notes.Have they ever heard of HIPA laws?I was not asked if it was OK At that point I just did what I had to do to get my annual exam for my insurance discount I was not about to discuss my private issues in front of her. read more

I've lived in several NC cities, always looking for a primary care physician who understands healthy nutrition and alternative medicine including supplements. I found such a doctor in Dr. Bhavna Tank. My spouse was so dissatisfied with his primary care physician that he switched to Dr. Tank too; we couldn't be happier. Dr. Tank can diagnose and treat specialty needs, and can do her own allergy testing. I hope I never have to move away from this area, because I would have to drive a long way in order to keep Dr. Tank as my physician. I highly recommend her and I've never left feedback for doctors. read more

Absolute greediness. This place only cares about the money, not the medicine. My list is long, however the last and final straw was when my husband mistakenly thought he had one more refill for his blood pressure medication the day before we went on vacation. He called the pharmacist to get a refill and they would not refill without Dr. authorization. When he called family wellness clinic, they refused to refill it, not even a 5 day supply while we were out of town without a paying "visit"......mind you he's been on this very same medicine for more than four years without change. I saw Dr. Tank about a year ago and loved her. I went back early this year and after two weeks of waiting for my appointment day, they told me at the front desk that they don't take my insurance anymore. I have forms that I have complete for my acceptance into a college degree program and have only 14 days to complete it. Now, I have to find a Dr. that doesn't have a waiting list 2 months long and a primary Dr. that will see me. For some reason, this state can't have simple medical offices anymore, everyone is a specialist who only take A B and C insurance when you have D insurance. I'm so tired of getting the run around by these people who can't seem to do their job---like, I don't know, tell the patient on the phone when they are scheduling an appointment that your office no long takes their insurance. The communication from the front office does not displays the practices of Dr. Tank. Unfortunately, I won't be able to be a patient anymore because of the office name change. My husband works in the United States Air Force and I can't seem to find a decent primary Doctor who will see me. Ridiculous. read more

Unfortunately my insurance chose Dr. Tank as my PCP. Instead of changing my PCP I decided to give the place a try. For my first visit I had to go to the Raleigh location because the Clayton office was booked out for 3 months. When I arrived the office had no record of my appointment but were still able to see me under another doctor. At my next visit the person administering my medication was asking me how much I was supposed to get and where was it supposed to be administered at even though I told her multiple times I didn't know because it was my first time receiving it. The Raleigh office was decent but it was a 45min drive from my house where as the Clayton office was 15min. Eventually I was able to be seen at the Clayton office. When I entered the office I signed in and not one of the two people behind the desk acknowledged me. By the end of my visit I was over charged because the person checking me out was just going to let me walk out without paying but wanted to pay the previous balance I had to due. She asked if I wanted to pay the copay as well but I stated to her that my out of pocket max was met so I was covered at 100% to which she replied "everyone has a copay" and charged me a copay anyway. She also didn't even offer to schedule my next appointment as it was stated on my chart. It's been almost 3 months since my visit and they are just now (at least that's what they finally said) sending my claim to my insurance after multiple attempts of trying to call and email them. Last month I spoke to someone and the claim was to be sent and it never was. I work in a medical office and I am beyond disappointed with the lack of education and respect this office has for it's patients. Update: it is now April 4 and I just received a refund check after several months of back and forth with this place! I will never return! read more
