It was very impulsive of me, and as I went on to read more about it online I saw that I could have bought the product for half the price. I of course, wanted to return it to get my money back but checked the receipt to see what the policy was and it indicated that all sales are final and no returns! WTF?! So, now you know I'm pissed because I feel very ripped off and cheated! I have tried to call the store and keep getting the answering machine. I'm waiting for a return phone call...

All of those gems that you find in the beauty supply stores in predominately black neighborhoods, you can get it all right here! Why am I the first person to write a review about one of Chicago's most treasured and sophisticated…read morecivic and cultural leaders when I've never even bought one thing from her store? I think it is because she is one of the reasons Chicago is the entrepreneurial city it is known for. For over 40 years, Marilyn Miglin has been Chicago's home-grown and self-taught equivalent to the likes of cosmetics industry leaders like Estee Lauder, Helena Rubinstein and Charles Revson. A lot of people think of Marilyn Miglin as a spokeswoman who sells her fragrances and potions on Home Shopping Network, but she is so much more. Back when Chicago was slowly shedding its hog-town reputation in the 1960s, Marilyn created a cosmetics business that became a favorite among women with different skin types and tapped into her legendary husband's business acumen to launch one of the most successful fragrance businesses in the country. Few women starting a business today would know just how difficult things were for women in 1960's Chicago with little capital but a strong vision, a plan, and the desire to help women make themselves look great. As a professional model, Marilyn knew a thing or two about beauty and creating a powerful image. Her products, especially her fragrances, continue to build on her passion for the exotic. Pheromone--her first and most popular fragrance--is truly a unique scent I remember by name when I smell it. Her outreach to help others--especially to children and those with facial deformities--is also just as important to her as the everyday business of beauty. She is one of the few cosmeticians who have some products light enough for use during and post chemo treatments, often when women's skin tone and color changes dramatically. I visited her store on Oak, and I've never felt so out of place (for a guy), but I enjoyed being in the store where it all started from and knowing that everything was created by someone who cares so deeply for others.

By FAR my favorite pop-up yet!…read more I saw this place on my friend's Instagram page and I knew I had to come here! It opened in October at the North Bridge ships and it'll be open for a couple of more months I think. WinkyLux is a make-up store most known for their clear lipsticks that add a sheer colored tint to your lips. Or at least that's what I know it for. I didn't get to browse around at the makeup too much because we were on a time crunch and we really wanted to take pictures in their photo-op rooms. Luckily it wasn't busy when we went but the employees said on weekends they only let each group take about 2 min in each room. One girl took us to half the rooms and then another guy with glasses took us to the other half. The girl didn't really explain the makeup they were showcasing in the rooms or what the room was portraying but the guy did an excellent job! He also offered to take our pictures and hold our purses and if that isn't good service I don't know what is! Des was also a great part of the team; v cheery and energetic. Some rooms were better than others but overall it was super cute and fabulous. K, T, and I were over the moon here! *Only adding a few pictures as to not spoil the rooms!

Instead of going to Beauty House on Wilson (which I believe has CRAP service), you can come here in the Edgewater /East ROGERS Park neighborhood. The Korean couple are nice and the woman is a good listener and tries to help you and means well. I got human hair clip ins for $59.99. You should walk in and just saw what they have and get a match for your hair. It's hard to determine what will be good for you unless you physically look at the product. A product I really like here is the Korean BB cream. Ask the staff for ig. It's only $6.99 and has excellent coverage. Koreans are known for their BB creams and this one is a pretty bomb formula for the price. Especially if your skin has yellow or dark undertones, you will love the BB cream here. If you have a light /fair complexion, their light formula will not be right for you. I'm serious- the Korean BB cream is an AMAZING formula here!!!! Nice coverage and feel. The other product you MUST get here to treat your hair and scalp is the Wild Growth hair pop. It's in a white and green bottle with a red top. Ask the staff for it. It's a bestseller because it's all natural and helps to grow out your hair. It's got walnut, castor, jojoba, lavender, peppermint, grapefruit, frankincense, eucalyptus, and sage in it too. Other oils too. I posted some pictures. Kinda feels tingly and more viscous than just castor oil. Castor oil feels too thick and doesn't rinse out upon shampooing. This brand is much better. It's $7.99 and is a better product than the more expensive chemical Nioxin or Avanti. They sell cute leg warmers too for under $5. Inexpensive store, in the Edgewater/East ROGERS Park by Loyola University. Off the Red Line Granville stop.
