The price was right. But guys, the highlight for me at this Holiday Inn (besides the immense pleasure I find in thinking of the early 00s and hearing Chingy in my head every time I stepped in the door...) was breakfast! They had an amazing PANCAKE machine that my kiddos were obsessed with, as well as multiple sausage options, eggs, hash browns, biscuits and gravy-- muffins, fruit, multiple types of milk and a fabulous coffee machine. And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention they had both a hot sauce and salsa. I am a hot water snob when it comes to showers-- I had to give this hotel a four vs a five star because the hot water was just not happening and the shower made an insane 'tea kettle' type scream when it was on. (Which made taking a quick shower while letting the kiddos sleep in, impossible.)

At the summer wedding we attended in 90+ temps with 60+% humidity, it was a lovely, lovely respite. As the day turned to night the outdoors cooled a bit and we spent time on the patio. They had to have sprayed for bugs because I didn't see or feel mosquitoes. I knocked off one star because my sons were both wearing light khaki-colored pants and they sat on an outdoor seating area and there was some sap or other oily substance that left marks on their light pants. It didn't wash off so I have to get creative on getting it removed. Just a gorgeous place and not to hard to get to.

Beautiful winery, we drove into the driveway and looks like a house. The backyard is a hill and you can see the vineyards. The inside was very spacious, suited for large groups and private parties. The patio and more seating in the backyard. They serve finger foods, pizza, and charcuterie boats. The bar is on the left as soon as you enter the building, review the list of wines they offer, you can do a flight or by glass. They don't offer tasting, but can give you a small sample prior to choosing a glass. Service was great, they gave me a pager for the food. We had a carrier for my wine and open seating anywhere. Also bottles are available for purchase if you liked the wine.

There is access to Lake Okaboji, however, the dock was full of geese poop and the beach/water area was not inviting. We did walk through the lodge which was much nicer. I think all there money goes into the lodge. Individual rooms and a beautiful deck looking over the lake. There was a group of teens on the property using the chapel and other buildings.

We got some amazing photos. The time I came for the museum I was chaperoning a small group of summer camp kids. Our tour guide was amazing. He let the kids ring the bell, go into some of the train cars, and walked us around the grounds. The kids really seemed to enjoy themselves. Both time the grounds were insanely muddy. But it's outside on actual old rail tracks. I don't quite remember the bathroom situation but I know they gotta have them. I don't think they have any food or gift shop. I know they do events every once in awhile. I see them advertised. Nice little Sioux City treasure tucked away from the city.
