I've not been to Whitedog Auto as I live in Austin, Texas - BUT listen up, y'all:…read more I emailed these folks inquiring about logo paraphernalia as I have a wonderful friend who had just recently lost her dear pup named "White Dog." I figured it would be a sweet, but different way of acknowledging her loss (I also found a White Dog Cafe in Philly, a White Dog Vineyard in California, etc...), and my intent was to collect these things as a present in his memory. I cannot tell you enough what, not only a delight, but an effusive sympathizer the office manager Karan was! She is obviously an animal lover as is the entire company (it's named after a dog, after all), and took on my request with absolute enthusiasm. She comped all of the things I wanted AND sent more (i.e. t-shirts, license plate surrounds, key chains, etc...). You cynical types may view this as an easy way of advertising, but let me remind you that I live in TEXAS. Fat chance my friend would per chance be supporting a Whitedog T and a license surround in Iowa. Seriously, this place seems all heart. I trust animal people and, even though my lemon of a car has never been through their garage doors (wouldn't make it there anyway), I give them five stars for being awesome humans.

They started conversation as "You are not our customer" simply because I got their service through the insurance. I wish it were misunderstanding, but how they deal with my review tells a lot of things. ------------------------------------------ I hate to leave negative review because you guys did the job done. But I must tell you, one of your guys, Basim really does not seem to care about your customers. I called you guys for lock out service, and he showed up on site, then he did not walk out of his car for more than 20 minutes because he was on the phone with his friends or whatever. And my car was running, and I am pretty sure that he saw me as well because I was standing by my car which was really close to his. Then he slowly walked out of his car and did the job which takes about 30 seconds. I already waited like 45 minutes and had to wait 20 minutes longer after he arrived because he did not get out of his car. Very horrible customer service, I can tell.

I don't think anyone actually researches mechanics before they need one, but we're the nerds who…read more(thankfully) had a little bit of time to do some digging. We had a great experience at Skay Automotive last week. They had very favorable reviews on both Yelp! and Google, so we knew we needed to give them a try. Conveniently located within walking distance of our house; even better! We're still pretty new to the Iowa City area after moving here from Cedar Rapids a couple of months ago. We were unable to get into our former mechanic back in CR because of a 3-week wait. This prompted us to tell ourselves that it was just time to find someone in Iowa City. Who wants to commute 40 minutes when you have a car issue? A tire on our Mazda CX-5 had a leak. My husband called Skay on a Tuesday and they were able to get us in for an appointment a couple of days later. We dropped off the car the night before said appointment and used one of their overnight deposit envelopes for our key. Envelopes were great because you could fill it out according to what you wanted to have the mechanics inspect. Vehicle was ready to be picked up before 10am the next morning. The mechanic(s) pulled a screw out of my tire, repaired the tire and completed an oil change. So happy my tire was saved! At our request they also checked the condition of our brakes. More than fair prices. We appreciated the breakdown of the services they performs and everything was printed on our invoice. The reviews are true! Skay will be our top pick for automotive repairs going forward. Highly recommend.

Before I decided to go to Deery Brothers Ford Dealership, my journey to find a decent price and…read morequality service lead to a dead end disappointment. You'd think an oil change these days wouldn't take that much shopping around, but from the deceiptful advertising starting at $20 to $60, then when I'd talk to a real person, which ended up me being taken hostage by the script of BS they'd read to you, and right before you fall asleep I wake up with a three digit quote. I had had it after Firestone had done that to me and it was 3 in the afternoon. I started my day doing only to find a place I could afford and trusted. My late mom's voice in my head, the whole time, repeating, take it to the dealership. So I did, thinking that they would be the most expensive of all. I WAS WRONG. I walked in, thinking the worst. In walks Blake. I told him all that I'd went through, and HE LISTENED. He took less than 5 minutes to quote me around $70 and asked me if I could come back at 3 that day. I'm sixty one, but I felt like 16 and wanted to jump, but didn't. LOL I would have broke a hip or something. Anywayz, I finally got my oil change, and all the extra stuff that they do and the invoice at the bottom was $69.75! It took less than an hour and a half and I was out the door. I will be back and if you think that just because it's the dealership, they hike the prices like I did, think again. This family owned franchise is Iowa nice.

I'm not sure anyone's favorite spot to frequent is a car dealership? (If so, DM me. I want to know…read moreyour reasons or how I can make it more enjoyable for myself.) It's stressful buying a car and even more so to have to get one repaired but Deery Brothers Ford Lincoln came through for me. I have a Ford Explorer that one day decided it'd continuously tell me my front passenger door was ajar-- even when it was in fact tightly closed. It was sure it was open and let me know that by constantly flashing an annoying icon on my dash. The interior lights seemed to never turn off and it was unable to lock from the inside. Ugh. Making the appointment was easy. I dropped it off and they determined what was needed. I was informed of the cost and the time frame; the part was to be delivered a week later. We waited for a call to let us know when the part was there but after almost two weeks without a call--made it ourself to inquire. It indeed had arrived. The car was ready that day! Easy peasy. (And quite expensive. We were quoted two different prices during this experience. Initially over the phone what we now know to be the price of the part itself. And then again over the phone, after checking out my vehicle, the part with labor with tax. Eek.) The staff was pleasant and location was super convenient. Overall- I'd come here again and most likely will!
