Anyway, new business means I'm running a car paid for by myself (focuses the mind), Audi Colchester were professional, slick, and I got free coffee when they serviced my car but for the real work their prices were fairly expensive, hence heading down here. No frills, no free coffee, no glossy magazines to read while you wait... What I did get was competitive pricing, advice, squeezed me in within 3 days and a loan car into the bargain. Busy, knowledgable, and honest - everything a good independent garage should be.

Booked an A service meaning a full service and asked for brakes to be checked as high pitched squeel when braking. Called to tell me car was ready and told nothing wrong with brakes as 'there brand new' told them they had been on for 2 years as they fit them please check properly. Said they would take for a test drive (why wasn't this done already?) called me back a few hours later and advised it was ready to pick up. Got there earlier than I said I would on the phone as they said they shut at half 4 when Google says 5. I turn up and they are taking it for 'a test drive' (2 people with a jump pack) 1 came back (meaning they used my car as a run around). He got back and said they might have something stuck in them just drive it off. (Firstly if you removed the brakes during your check when you said they were "brand new" this would be gone surely!) Secondly I asked if they checked them during the service which I was when I was advised they just changed the oil and it was booked for a B/minor service. Looking at paperwork only oil and filter and plug was changed. In what world do you only change oil during any service look online at what an actual B/minor/2 - check lights, exhaust, brakes, , fluids and possibly belts and change air&pollen filter Can confirm non of this was done and no health check sheet provided.

Took my car here for a full service in September 2007 and then a MOT in October 2007…read more Generally the service is good, if you live or work in Felixstowe I can recommend it. There were no issues with the service, however I am not exactly an expert when it comes to cars :) Still going strong so I suppose it was OK. One thing that did annoy me was that when I took it for an MOT 3 weeks after the service they failed my car because of a tyre, they did not pick this up when they did the service and I don't exactly do a lot of distance in 3 weeks. They did also fit a waterpump to an older car that I had (I supplied the parts and they fitted it) which was quite reasonable.

It isn't a discount MOT place so you do pay full price for the MOT, bit at least you know they are not gonna rip you off like some of the cheaper places do. Really happy with the service and advice I was given about my other car, to the point where I will be taking it there next month when the MOT is due on it as well. Whilst I was there I spoke to them about tyres for my other car and gave me advise about tyres that save fuel on car that do a lot of milage. Needless to say I will be having these fitted next month. They were friendly and helpful, especially as they were relocating their workplace within days! They booked me in within two days, despite being pretty busy, and kept in touch with me throughout, always discussing options and costs. The work was well done: they even corrected a serious error from my last MOT! They also presented me with one of their company's calenders of old lorries for a man with learning difficulties I work with, which was not only a little advertising for them but a great gift for the person I support as they are crazy about big vehicles. Do not let them fob you off saying it's dark and raining so they will check it the next day. They get you to sign saying this is ok, with you knowing that there is no damage on the car you have just returned, so you sign it quite happily. 3 days later we have had a call saying the car is dented and that they want £80+vat to fix it. Dropped the car off Friday before they closed, and even though they open on Saturday, the car wasn't checked until Monday morning!! Rung them up discussed it in length, then asked to speak to the manager as was getting nowhere. He was out so would call me back later. Instead of doing this, he rings up our insurance company and notifies them of what's happened and starts a claim!! I rung back after hearing the insurance company had left a message on my other half's phone. I speak to the lady again saying it's totally out of order and disputing the whole incident, and then ask to speak to the manager again. He is busy and will call back in 10 minutes. 40 minutes later, he calls back and in conversation says that there is no proof that it happened while we had the car, and that it was just as possible that it could of happened in the yard over the weekend. I brought up the fact that there had been at least one person drive it since we dropped it off to them, as it got moved into their compound. This still made no difference! He then said his intention was not for us to feel that he'd forced our hand, but obviously going straight to the insurance company had done this, and we had no option other than to pay it. We are now out of pocket £96 for damage that we suspect was done over the weekend!! Make sure they check the car whatever the weather, or time of day you take it back.
