Wow, wow, wow. We just came back from an 18-day road trip in Western Europe, thanks to Ahoi Bullis…read more It was our first time doing this, and it was a real blast. We reserved the van early (November 2016) and it was a painless process. Everything was done online and we had to pay a 25% advance to confirm the reservation. Then came the long wait until April 2017 and the start of our road trip. I had to get in touch with Ahoi to know when we could come and pick the van. I wished that they would instead get in touch with me, but in the end, it wasn't a big deal. We could come early on Friday morning, so we enjoyed nearly a full day of driving. The handover came with approximately one hour of instruction on how to use the van and its many gadgets. These beasts are complex and there are a bunch of little tips and tricks to learn. Just be prepared to spend some time there, it won't be your usual car rental pickup. Once we knew everything, we went on the road. Our trip went really smoothly. Our van was brand new (188 km at pickup) so everything was in top notch condition. We enjoyed sleeping in the van in a variety of conditions: Nearly summer in Southern France and winter in Bavaria. It was easy to drive and we fit in all parkings and parking garages. I really don't have anything bad to say about the vehicle. The van comes by default with everything you need for cooking. We're food snobs so we added a couple of cooking knives (unnecessary but nice), coffee grinder, and a salad bowl (this was nice to have). We brought our own charcoal grill, but later realized that there was already one in the van. Just beware that it's rather small. At the end of our road trip, it was heartbreaking to give Vroomy back to Ahoi. Giving it back took about 15 minutes. It was looked over but they weren't too picky and understand that people live in full time for weeks at a time. Thanks to the fine folks at Ahoi for this great first road trip experience. We'll be back for the second one.
