I first visited the Intervale on a walk with my dog. This large piece of property that lies right along the edge of the city is divied up and made available for people to rent affordably and use for farming. The farms that are at the Intervale are able to share large pieces of equipment and resources and practice sustainably, while contributing to the community in a major way. They make locally grown food accessible to the community through the Gleaning and Food Rescue program, which supplies free fresh veggies to income eligible residents and the Intervale Food Hub's farm shares, which vary in size and can be purchased seasonally. The Intervale helps people to focus on the soil and our interaction with the earth and educates the public on how we all can live more sustainable lives. They offer a composting program, The Abenaki Heritage Garden, and a Conservation Nursery. There are also a number of trails to walk and bike and a river to relax by. They have plenty of community events that encourage the viability of agriculture and promote community engagement with food systems Weather you're going to boogie down at Summervale, a Thursday night music and food ritual that The Intervale and a number of local vendors orchestrate each summer or just go snowshoeing by the river on a still evening in January, The Intervale will quicky become your sanctuary. It is a reminder of the beauty in the world and the importance of getting our hands dirty and providing the source for food that we eat. We are so fortunate to have such a place and if you have an opportunity to enjoy it, I encourage you to do so; your soul will be grateful.

Definitely stop in if you need hemp clothes, incense, beeswax candles, books on breastfeeding, locally printed calendars, drums for your next drum circle, or a copy of heather has two mommies. Don't go-- or plan to be in and out if you have environmental sensitivities or are right wing.

THe center is downstairs in a basement level, door is on Church Street. Inside they have all sorts of books and publications, newspapers, and magazines. Music, rainbow wind chimes, hemp products, oils and incense, anti-war tee shirts, COOL BUMPER STICKERS and pro-environment type products. This place reflects and feels like a way society should be.

I had understood that it was due at least in part to a shallow grade of the outlet pipe...whatever. A couple of years ago, it had gradually become clogged enough that it was draining painfully slowly. I had RotoRooter out to clear it, and when the work was done, it was much better. It drained just fine, like before. Over two or three months this past fall, it gradually slowed down again, and I waited because I remembered how expensive it was the last time. Finally, there was no more waiting. It had become gross, it was so *disgustingly* slow, and I was even wondering whether it would require major work of some kind. I am so happy to have seen the glowing reviews here of Pipe Dreams. I called them & they were able to get me in in two days. Tyler was here for about an hour, and the tools he used were very different from the long, manual snake that RotoRooter had used. It/they were motorized things that had a reach far down the pipes. Tyler explained that he was staying mindful of the neighbors' pipes and not disturbing those. When he was done, he filled the sink with water & then released it. Since we bought this place all those years ago, I had NEVER seen it empty so fast, and I didn't even think it was possible. The water began to spin and make the most beautiful whirlpool and then was gone. The whole time he was here, Tyler could not have been more considerate, clear in his communication, and helpful. He also gave me tips on how to keep the drain clear. I kept meaning to write this review soon after he was here, but it's now been three months - oops! Here is the bright side to the delay: I can report that the sink has been draining wonderfully ever since, and it makes me soooo happy every time I use the sink. Call Pipe Dreams! You will be glad you did.

They were reliable, open and honest about the entire process even when the items on the blueprint didn't match the actual equipment that had been installed 20 years prior, along with outdated instalment features. They had to find a different pump, and electrical replacement solutions. They were great and did it with positive attitudes and friendly hardworking ethics. We enjoyed getting to know them and were very impressed with how much they care. They made the job change work with the price they had quoted us as well, which was very reasonable. When my wife has called in the past, she was told not to call- that they'd be by to pick up. Well- 3 days with no pickup and my wife calling and texting ,even sending a message through FB. I called today- they came (very much appreciated) but LEFT the recycle on the curb! I hate to post against a family owned business- and I'm not sure if there has been a generational change- but... time to go with the corporate service Customer beware! Not satisfied and very disappointed. Now- we'll have to pay someone else for the recycle... since JR Son's left us in a pinch

Franklin Falls Flow is an Impoundment on the Saranac River thanks to Paul Smith's Electric Light and Power Company dam. Much of the lake is under 10 feet deep, so boaters need to be cautious. The lake has a nice view of Whiteface Mountain. There is a non-paved boat launch nearby but it is not the usual sort of lake. As it is manmade, you can expect more than the usual rocks and stumps.
