But my instructor, Mike, has been so helpful and understanding during my learning process. Beyond that, I was recommended to try vocal lessons with an instructor at the time who's lessons quickly became the highlight of my week. She taught me so much and gave me the confidence, tools, and reassurance I lacked. Performance Program shows have helped me meet so many amazing fellow musicians (that I am glad to say are now some of my closest friends), taught me how to play/perform as a group, dared me to positively push myself, and helped me get comfortable on stage. Furthermore, I was asked to audition vocally for Houseband earlier this year and, to my surprise, I got in! The entire experience has helped me grow in so many ways that I could make this comment into a essay. So to sum it up, I started with barely any stage presence and a shaky voice. Through healthy challenges, once the annual summer tour came around, I was so confident singing on stage and had improved my voice so much by comparison to the fall. I bonded so much with my bandmates and have connected with so many people through music, I wish I started School of Rock sooner! From the fabulous, insanely talented, and hilarious staff, to the programs and experiences themselves, I would 100% recommend SoR Creskill to anybody in search of an amazing learning enviroment.

UPDATE: After much effort, I finally reached someone who was…read moreable to help - the director of licensee relations - who is working quickly with the Bergen County to ameliorate the situation of getting the materials before class to help my son. I appreciate the response from both. I generally like Music Together, I certainly like the idea of it. A few things to consider: Don't let them sway you with class choice - I started my 6-month old, and planned to go into a baby class, but when that class was cancelled due to lack of enough registration, we were put into a more mixed age group class. My son was totally overhwlemed by the kids and the high noise level, and wasn't comfortable until the last class. He is a daycare kid, so he's used to group environments, but the music played was LOUD. I wanted to stick with it because I felt that it would be a good learning experience for us together, but I was disappointed that instead of recommending I wait a season, they put us in a class that wasn't good. The experience put a bad taste in my mouth, needless to say. Now I am gamely trying again for Fall, since he's older, and my plan of attack is to have him get familiar with the class CD in advance, so that we have more of a chance of being comfortable off the bat. Unfortunately, that plan is being thwarted by Music Together. The Bergen County organizer told me that she wouldn't get the CDs in until about a week before class starts, so there was "nothing she could do" to get it to me earlier. I called the main office in Princeton, and the woman I spoke with was astounded at my request. She said the CDs are "at the warehouse" and they "don't sell directly to the public." Let it be noted that I have already paid for my class. So my CD is in existence, just unattainable. I asked if they had a spare in the office I could borrow and send back, or if they have the files they can send me online for now. She said she would call me back and I haven't yet gotten a response. I have a hard time believing that this is the first time they've had a child who loves music but needs a little extra handholding with the crowd and the loud noise. I am a parent trying to help my child enjoy and grow with Music Together, instead I fear that we are going to spent another 6 weeks+ just getting him comfortable there, and completely missing the point of the class. Pretty frustrating, to say the least.

I'm writing this review to express our appreciation for Mrs. Bobbs and to let readers here know how wonderful of a teacher she has been to our family. Our child does several activities other than piano as do many kids her age, but the kind of attention she receives from Mrs. Bobbs is by far superior to anything else I've observed from her other non-music coaches/instructors. I like how Mrs. Bobbs spends time with her students focusing on the details as well as trying to help them gain a greater appreciation for music. I like seeing that kind of interaction between teacher and student. She definitely has her own style/method of teaching as she is focused on music theory which may or may not work for you depending on your child's goals. She also expects her students to perform at recitals and encourages them to participate in various music festivals throughout the year. Again, this may not align with the personal goals you have for your child, but if this interests you then it is truly a rewarding experience for the kid whether they perform well or not. A major strength of Mrs. Bobbs is her ability to work well with young students. She is strict but is kind and fair. When she took on my child, I can tell she had high expectations for her. Those expectations included daily practice and dedication to the piano. I know this might sound harsh but personally, I'd rather have someone who is passionate about music teaching my child rather than someone who's just doing this as a side job. In short, Mrs. Bobbs is an incredibly kind and compassionate teacher who connects well with her students, but she does expect a lot from them. Those expectations include practicing everyday and doing your best which are all reasonable to me. I wouldn't want anything less. Thank you Mrs. Bobbs.
