Graded comic books are scarce but they have a good wall selection. Customer service is good. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Very knowledgeable of the books and games. They promote local events as well as local artists. I'd happily spend my money here. read more

First off, the store is mostly for people who play RPGs so it has a lot of new and used RPG books on the shelves on the left side of the store as you're entering as well as ample space for playing said role-playing games. The right side is a large used novel section with a good supply of romance novels (which is weird considering). The comic section is small because the store isn't a comics only shop, which Augusta has plenty of if my experience means anything. The store also has singles, booster packs for CCGs as well as plenty of role-playing aids and tools like dice, dice bags, character sheets, etc. for sale. The Augusta Book Exchange is probably the best stocked gaming store in the area, and I went many times while we were living in Evans (even if I most of the time didn't have money to buy anything). However, that didn't stop me from conversing with the cashier (who kinda looked like he could be my brother) and other customers. I even helped a guy write up a 20th level Pathfinder wizard while in the store. As far as customer service goes, you have to realize that gaming stores are normally populated with people who play role-playing games and CCGs (like Magic: The Gathering) and we aren't known for being the most extroverted sub-culture on the planet. Most likely, unless the cashier is completely whacked out on caffeine, he or she isn't going to bother you continuously about how you're doing (which we introverted gamer geeks actually appreciate). While I was nerding out, my wife was thoroughly distracted with the used books, so I could have my fun without worrying about her getting too bored. Perfect awesome place. My sister and I went here and found so many deals. They have a great 20 cent table up front and the rest of the store had 75% off books. I lucked up and found some "like new" books at the 20 cent table. They have a ton of gently used books as well. Only downside, it's a little dusty. But, that's what comes with most hidden gem bookstores with a huge selection of exchange/used books. read more

Super friendly and helpful service. Great place to get new comics with a larger selection than Barnes and Noble.

They have a ton of bits and accessories for board games, RPGs and card games (both new packs/boxes and used/loose cards). They have regular events for many different types of games. They have a robust used book section. The comics section needs some work. They get in all the new titles and they are well organized. Sadly, the often under-order some of the titles, ordering just enough for their regulars with "pull lists" (to become a regular, you need to order 10 titles or more a month), leaving those who buy off the rack high-and-dry. If you ask, they will order issues for you and take down your phone number, then call you when your order comes in. Generally the orders come in before the next week, so I just pick them up when I make my next comics pickup (Wednesday). They have a huge back-issue inventory, but only 1/3 of it is organized. There are a ton of boxes on the floor that are not in any kind of order. It's a pain to dig through if you're looking for something specific and they'll tell you they have little idea what's where when it comes to those boxes. They've been down there for going on 2 years, not sure why they don't organize them. Overall, this place is great for all your nerd-needs. It could use some work (seriously, organize those back issues), but this is the go-to place to get my weekly comics. read more

It isn't a large fancy store, but I like this store so much better than the local large used book store. Very seldom do I not find the book I am looking for and if not, then I usually do the next time I go. If I can't find something, there is always a friendly clerk to help me look or tell me exactly what section to go to. I really like the .20 table because there are plenty of titles I still haven't read of my favorite authors and a lot of times I can find them on that table. The most important thing is, I get a good trade in value and the ones I buy are not very expensive, so I always make out very well when going there. The only negative is that it was hard to find at first, at least, for me. But that is my favorite go to used bookstore. read more

Paul's store is THE institution to visit if you are in the Augusta area. He has the best selection of new comics, is very friendly and accommodating, especially to the gaming community. The back issue selection is there too, but not the focus. A fair amount of toys and gaming supplies abound here, as are a plethora of used novels. Definitely a great store to find anything new that you need, or a good place to hang out to game. The store is also very supportive of local artists in the area and boasts a local artist and writer rack worth checking out. read more
