Great place to play Beach volleyball and various other sports. Its well organised and clean, friendly and everyone who works here is helpful and always smiling. Lots of sports are catered to here and as I have only used the beach volleyball courts I can only comment on these. The courts are of a very high quality, sand is white and well maintained, courts are decently spaced with a decent amount of space to move about off court. The online reservation system works a treat. Nearby to U3 Johnstrasse its pretty easy to get to as well. Located in the 15 district this quite living area holds block houses and gardens. The sports university is also located to the left and the beach volleyball pits are to the right. The Schmelz also has a very small children's playground and a American size football field. And on the other end you can also find a great garden restaurant called Schutzhaus Zukunft. Its great for a nice little stroll, running, benches for reading/relaxing and outside dining at the Schutzhaus. read more

I have already written a review for Auf der Schmelz, but as Yelp wants me to write another one i will do so as requested. I used the Beach Volleyball courts this time, just like last time. So my review is based only on the Volleyball courts, as the rest of this complex i have not seen yet. Like last time my review and opinion could not be better, the courts have more than what you need and are outstandingly clean and great to play on. (as oposed to the ones in Prater which are not so nice) I think they put something special in the sand to make it taste better, as again i spent a while face down in the sand. But that is due to my Australian style of playing and not due to the facilities them self. In other words my playing suxs. read more
