Cottage #6 bedroom. Comfy bed :)
    Steve I.

I have worked in the hotel industry for the past 13 yrs. What I have learned is that the two most important things guests care about are 1. Be nice to them 2. Have clean rooms. Everything else is secondary. The Audubon Cottages are part of the New Orleans Hotel Collection (all located in the Quarter except for two properties). I stayed one night (Tuesday) at the Audubon Cottages three weeks ago. I stayed in Cottage #6 and I was charged $199. Rates get rather expensive during the weekend. I was looking at a weekend stay but they were asking between $349/ngt for a 1-bdrm cottage and as high as $999/ngt for a 2-bdrm cottage. They don't even offer employees a discount at the Cottages (I know. I've tried to get an employee discount from my sister a couple of times). I loved everything about the property from the beautiful courtyard, the private location, the beautiful rooms, the breakfast that awaits you each morning in the courtyard, and the wonderful staff. The employees here are so accomodating! They will go the extra mile here to make you happy and they really pamper you. Some other benefits of staying here: - Personal butler service - Access to the fitness center at the Dauphine Orleans hotel on the next block. - Free wifi - A pool that you are only sharing with a maximum of 6 other rooms. Located just one block from the masses of tourists in the Quarter is a true New Orleans oasis! I am a huge fan of all of the N.O. Hotel Collection properties but the Cottages are just a step above the rest. The best hotel experience you can have awaits at the Audubon Cottages.

Stay nowhere else if going to New Orleans. This place borders on magical. Private, clean, beautiful grounds/rooms and exceptional, friendly service. Walk to everything in the French Quarter. It's tranquil and quiet while the lovely madness of Bourbon Street etc goes on just outside the grounds. Where to start?! Lovely spacious rooms. Updates were tastefully done. Fridge, coffee maker and water provided. We were tucked away off the pool in a gloriously private courtyard with bubbling fountain. Bricked paths, lush gardens, special touches everywhere. The staff. Wow. They were helpful, friendly, accommodating, knew when to disappear and when to appear!! How??! We were fortunate to have their insider local tips on where to go and info on the lovely cottages, the French Quarter--all of New Orleans. They were just amazing. A delicious breakfast is included. They do not skimp here! You choose from a solid menu and the food is prepared deliciously! (I have NEVER, not once met an included breakfast that I could rave about--until this one!) The dings? I'm digging deep because I TRULY love this place and will absolutely go back -- the parking is about a block down and is an additional $40/per day. I missed that when booking, so was a bit shocked. But, once there you see why. Parking is a nightmare. You can seek out other parking lots a bit further out, but you might only save $10/day. You've got to call for your car a few minutes ahead. The bathroom is elegant and luxurious with marble, brass and walk-in shower. Our suite we had to be careful as the door opened in straight into the sink and we got each other more than once--can't really be fixed but was something to be aware of with a historical property. (Like I said, I'm digging deep!) Bathrobes, extra pillows and blankets, umbrellas all provided. The pool is gorgeous! On the weekend there was a breakfast buffet in the clubhouse rather than brought to our room and it was impressive and delicious with the cook taking special orders. I'm counting the days until I can return. Go. Go now.

Just held my wedding here this past weekend. The property is gorgeous and the cottages are immaculate. Our wedding was prefect in the courtyard of cottage 3. My in-laws stayed at cottage 4, which was also lovely. The cottage front is unassuming, took us a minute to find it, but the cottages is like a secret oasis. It's walkable to everything in the French Quarter with street noise on occasion. We could not have picked a more perfect place to get married! We look forward to coming back to celebrate many anniversaries to come!

When we arrived, there were some different walkways and gardens behind the inn, which were really cool, but at first we weren't sure if we were in the right place! The instructions that Chris and Maryann gave to find each of the rooms was perfect. There was lots of foliage, fountains, swings, benches, tables, different places to hang out each night. Each room had its own theme and flair to it. The detail in the old building was so cool. The rooms were also very large, and had high ceilings! Our suite, River, was so huge. I have stayed in New Orleans before, and some other Inn rooms are difficult to navigate due to being so small. Not at Blue60 ! The descriptions on the website don't do them justice. The rooms were also immaculate.. everything was very clean down to the linens, sofas, floors, etc. We loved being a quick walk to Frenchmen Street, we found ourselves here each night! It was also within a 10 minute walk to the French quarter, Royal street and Bourbon Street. The only Uber we needed to take was to and from the Inn from the airport. There was a fresh market across the street and a Starbucks. We stopped at the market to get waters and snacks! The only concern we had when booking was some reviews saying that Desire & River were "too loud at night." I have to say , I 100% disagree. Both myself and the group in the other room did not have any problems sleeping. Yes it is a streetfront room, but it is a Main Street, so it is quiet. Once or twice through the whole weekend a loud car drove by, but passed within a few seconds.... We were very very happy here! Thank you Chris and Maryann for an awesome experience, we hope to come back sooner than later, and will definitely stay at Blue60!!

I usually stay at one of the established B&Bs in the Quarter. This time, I found the pickin's slim as there was a Pirate festival in town and Spring Break in full swing. Hearing over and over that there was no room in the inn, I finally found The Sunburst and emailed an availability inquiry. Innkeepers, Darrell and Glen wrote back that, yes, they could take me in their smaller accommodation, the Diamond Room for $85 a night total. The Sunburst is in the heart of the Faubourg Marigny, my favorite slice of NOLA, just a few blocks from the Quarter. Glen met me when I arrived with news that I'd been 'upgraded' to the only other accommodation they had, a suite at the front of the house. Aparantly there was a no show! This room is fantastic. It's furnished in antques and oriental rugs, features a big livingroom/sitting area with floor to ceiling windows and an equally large bedroom. The bath is modern and has a dual-head shower. There is a well stocked refrigerator: Milk, Orange Juice, Sodas, Bottled Water, Yoghurt and Cream Cheese, all complimentary. A coffee maker and toaster, bagels, assorted cereals, chips and other goodies are also there. A basket of fresh fruit graces my desk. There's even a computer with interent in the room. It's just 3 blocks from the Phoenix (ok: it's my favorite gutter to fall down into when in New Orleans), and just a few blocks further to the music and good eats on Frenchman St. Really: I don't do 5 stars often (ok: so I lie); but this place is the best. It will be my home in NOLA from now on.

We travel quite a bit and prefer to stay in guest houses/B&B's and private apartments over the hotel/ resorts. The Sunburst Inn was an excellent option for us and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. The location is perfect. It's an easy walk to Frenchman and the Quarter just a bit further. It is also a couple of blocks away from the bus stop. There is actually a stop right on the corner of Marigny, but I believe that it is not a pick up stop, just a drop off. The $3 Jazzy Pass is an excellent deal and took us beyond the Quarter. The owners/hosts are friendly, informative and welcoming. Parking was easy and for the most part hassle free. But you really do not need a car. Our room was large, extremely comfortable and very clean. The bed is very comfy and provided us with pleasant nights of uninterrupted sleep. Which is not the norm for me when sleeping in a strange bed. Mind you, they do not bill themselves as a B&B. So don't expect breakfast. They do offer a fridge stocked with soda, water, juice and milk and coffee. They also provide a basket of snacks and cereal. Everything is replenished as needed. If you want a full on brekkie, there are plenty of places nearby. Plus this set up also is great for late night snacks ;) We will definitely return to the Sunburst Inn when our travels take us back to NOLA. Thank you Glenn & Darrell for your hospitality!

I 100% wish we had stayed at the St Philip the entire trip. It's quiet and very accessible by foot to every corner of the French Quarter. Our room was 3x the size of our Frenchmen room for the same price, and I was surprised that we actually utilized the kitchenette (which is well stocked with utensils and dishware etc, plus the coffee maker in the room is a plus). The hotel itself is silent which can be hard to find, and I was surprised how much I valued the quiet after 2 nights of Frenchmen street. The only drawback is a lack of parking. There is a lot on Elysian Field (6/7 blocks away) that the desk clerk recommended that's only $20/24 hours but you do need to walk back and put more money in the meter daily, which in the middle of summer in the middle of the day can be an arduous task - to maximize your $20, stay as close to the same time as when you first check the car in (first payment at 3pm, the 24 hrs expires at 3pm the next day). I did see plenty of parking tickets on windshields and a car with a boot all over so, parking laws are definitely enforced. Just as an aside, most hotels with parking or a valet service run $30+/nightly plus you have to tip the driver so $20 is a steal. All in all, the St Philip is a unique, affordable, very comfortable hotel in the heart of the action.

My boyfriend and I went for a major holiday last year. The regular hotels were filling up fast, and were really expensive. Then we found out about the Crescent City Guest House. It had everything we wanted: walking distance to the French Quarter, VERY reasonable rates, comfortable rooms, and free off-street parking (a rarity in NOLA!). It also had things we didn't even know we wanted: holiday-themed Mardi Gras beads set out on the bed, a common room with enough information on the city to keep us busy the entire time, friendly owners, a fridge with juice and bagels for any time of day, and a beautifully-landscaped backyard where we relaxed or had a cigarette after a long day of walking. We were looking for something cheap, with no bedbugs. A surprising number of cheap NOLA inns and hotels had bad marks on one of the bedbug registries, but not this place -- in fact, one of the Trip Advisor reviews specifically mentioned that they carefully searched for bedbugs but didn't find any. The studios are an amazing value for being in the middle of Bourbon Street and the French Quarter -- $95 plus only a $0.50 tax per night! We found our bedroom to be charming, and we loved the gorgeous courtyard with tons of tropical birdsong every morning. Our studio had a small kitchen with a stove and fridge, but no microwave. Given that this building is from the 1800's, it's not totally spotless, but I thought it was fine and I'm normally kind of OCD about this stuff. If anything, the slight griminess was more of a rustic patina. Very New Orleansy :). On the last day of our trip, we were hoping we could keep our luggage with them for pickup very late in the night, and they were very nice about letting us store our stuff right outside their front door (inside the locked gate). There were a few downsides: As you can see from one of the photos, the bathroom was cramped to the point that it was a little tricky to maneuver yourself onto the toilet. Also, the shower pressure was so weirdly strong that I wondered if it was going to give me a bruise. They didn't have shampoo, conditioner, or a hair dryer, but there was plenty of soap. One other thing that ended up being kind of frustrating was that they required that we send a check in for the deposit -- the first one we sent was somehow delayed an entire month, and after two weeks we had to issue a stop payment order which cost $35. Of course, even with that factored in, it was still the cheapest of the options we were considering. They do accept credit card for paying off the rest of the balance. Some notes on the location: - A block away from the amazing super-ancient Lafittes Bar, probably the only Bourbon St bar that locals actually like! - The street noise was not too bad, but there's definitely some random yelling at times. Bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. - A bit of a sketchy area at night. Either there's extremely drunken, impolite Bourbon St tourists, or there's almost no one and it's dark and potentially dangerous. Definitely take a taxi back home when it's past dark.

We lucked out on all three counts with the Bourgoyne Guest House. Check-in involved going across the street to the Clover Grill at Bourbon and Dumaine to get the keys from the guy behind the counter. We stayed in the studio apartment in the back off of the lush, green courtyard and heard no street noise whatsoever even though the action was happening just down the block on Bourbon. Our room had a stocked mini kitchen, and there was no phone or tv (which was fine by us). The room was clean and quaint, and was a nice setting to come "home" to after a full day of running around town. The first morning there we met the owner, who lives on the premises. J is a neat guy with lots of good recommendations for local eats, is a great storyteller, and just plain pleasant all around. We saw him frequently throughout our stay, and it was always nice to run into him and stop for a chat. If I had to say anything less than stellar about the Bourgoyne Guest House, it's that our apartment's bathroom was a bit on the snug side. This is my only reason for four stars, and who knows, maybe the other rooms were more spacious in that regard. Overall, we loved the Bourgoyne.
