My recent visit to Bluegrass Hearing Clinic in Lexington will be my last. I have worn hearing aids…read moremy entire life due to a genetic hearing loss, so I have extensive experience working with audiologists. I made an appointment with an audiologist to have my hearing aids cleaned, something I have done many times before, including at this location. The receptionist told me it would be a two week wait to see the audiologist I have seen in the past, and that was not an issue for me. However, when I arrived for my appointment, the receptionist took my hearing aids and after a few moments returned them to me in the waiting room. She had cleaned them herself, and told me I didn't need to see the audiologist (unless I wanted to pay more money). Never in my life have I had my hearing aids cleaned by anyone other than an audiologist! Perhaps it is not strictly necessary, but usually it is an opportunity to discuss any issues with the hearing aids, make adjustments, etc. In addition, I prefer to patronize businesses that welcome people of all faiths, without the need to proselytize their own.

This review is for the simple service of hearing aid repair…read more My hearing aids (new in 2010) break once in awhile. A little bit too often. When my left one stopped working a few weeks ago, I knew I was in trouble until I could find someone to fix it for me. I called around to several places listed on the hearing aid manufactor's website and finally got in touch with the Lexington Hearing & Speech Center. While other places told me I needed to be referred or have a specific type of insurance, this place told me I could bring in my hearing aid for consultation, free of charge. YES. That's all I needed -- just to find out what's wrong with it. I went in on a Friday and dropped it off. Since there was no audiologist available that day, I filled out a form, left the hearing aid, and waited for a phone call. Monday afternoon, they call and tell me they fixed it. Great! But... I wanted them to tell me what's wrong with it before fixing it, so I could prepare for the costs. The audiologist/whomever I spoke with on the phone apologized for that misunderstanding. Fortunately, they were able to repair in-house and it only cost $100. WHEW. I realize that $100 is actually a lot of money, but compared to the previous repair costs I've paid for the same fixes when the hearing aid was sent out to the manufactor or when I had to pay for my hearing aid insurance, $100 was awesome. YES. So thankful for their fantastic service. I won't hesitate to go there in the future if I need help with something else (or who knows, maybe even the same thing). Something to note: this business is located behind a school. I was really confused when I arrived and discovered a school. Nearly panicked and thought I had the wrong place. But nope, go through the parking lot to the back of the building. There it is.
