When I raised this concern, I was informed that replacing those components was not part of the original scope of work and was quoted an additional $1,400 to complete those repairs. From my understanding, those components are commonly addressed as part of a complete A/C repair and are also referenced in the service description on the shop's website. Throughout the discussion, I made it clear that I was not trying to avoid paying for the work performed, but rather wanted the repair completed in a way that would result in a properly functioning system. At times, it was difficult to fully communicate my concerns, and there was some disagreement regarding the information I was referencing. I clarified that my understanding was based on the shop's own website. Ultimately, we were unable to come to an agreement on how to proceed. The shop removed the newly installed compressor, reinstalled my original unit, and returned the vehicle to me at no charge. He came back in to tell me what was wrong and that he had ordered the replacement part to secure the battery and fix the connection. 20 minutes later, he handed me my keys, refusing to charge me a dime, and told me to have a good day. As I stood there incredulously, he said he thought they should have noticed it at my last visit, 2 months ago. Of course they should not have. It probably wasn't loose then.
