It is a small hotel with a restaurant. It's rustic, as you might expect, since it's in a skiing and recreation area in the alps. The rooms are simply furnished, but comfortable and homey. The restaurant serves huge portions of a delicious version of French country cooking. I had a beef stew served over ravioli, tasty and filling.
No one here speaks English. I was the only one in the restaurant that wasn't French. Even though I don't speak French, the staff were friendly and patient and we were able to communicate enough for me to check in to my room and to have dinner in the restaurant.
Overall, I would definitely recommend l'Escapade if you are looking for a comfortable place to stay in the Maritime Alps.
