We had a recommendation to dine for lunch at the Restaurant de la Vallée
but it was closed. Walking from the train station we passed a small restaurant-Auberge du Chateau- just across the river from Restaurant de la Vallée- which was open and full of patrons. Also looking over the Loire and just below the Chateau de Clisson. A gorgeous spot. We were told to wait 10 minutes and were seated on the porch looking onto the river. Outstanding. I started with the foie gras poêle. Two large tranches seared perfectly. Two could share this rich dish. Then the Noix de St Jacques. Also excellent. Service was friendly and outstanding. Gabrielle was tres sympa! We tried some local red wines from Anjou and Sameur. Enjoyable lunch. We were three guys but this would be a romantic getaway lunch for 2. read more
