We were looking forward to trying this restaurant because of the great reviews. We stopped by at 6:15pm as they open at 6pm. The restaurant was empty and there were 2 employees outside, a man (Chef) and woman smoking cigarettes. The man asked if we had reservations and we didn't. The man advised they were full and didn't have anything available for that evening. No worries, we went to another restaurant "Le Zinc d'Honoré" and had a fabulous meal. On our way back at 8:30pm, I stopped back in to see if they had a reservation for the next evening. The interior of the restaurant was TOTALLY "empty" no one seated inside. I approached a lady employee behind the bar and asked "Parles-tu Anglais?" She said, "Yes" and I asked if they had any availability for tomorrow evening. She opened up the book..... it was blank with NO reservations and she said, "Yes". I told her 7:30 PM and at that point the man that I spoke with earlier in the evening hurried from the kitchen to the front behind the bar and told us both, "There are no reservations available tomorrow", and he promptly went back to the kitchen. She had a questioned look on her face as he left and turned to me and said she was sorry. I told her it was ok. It was obvious we weren't welcome there. If you are American, or a mixed race couple do yourself a favor and don't go to this restaurant. YOU ARE NOT WELCOME at Au Bistro. read more
