Let's face it, I'm not a bike enthusiast. I'm not even really a bicyclist. That's how my bike got in such bad shape, it had basically been sitting in my backyard, in the weather, for about 2 years. This isn't the first time that this had happened. I'd bought this bike about 9 years ago and after riding it for a year it had languished in the garage for a few years before I pulled it out and trucked it down to the shop where I bought it for a "tune-up". Part of the deal where I bought it was "free lifetime tune-ups"... $75 and a week later (so much for 'free') I got the bike back, rode it for a few months, then it sat, and sat, and sat.... in my backyard. This time I called Paul. I should have called him years ago. I took it in to him, he tuned it up and it cost a fraction of what the "free" tune-up had cost from the shop I'd bought it at. He knows what he's doing. The thing rides AMAZING now, better than it did new (the shifter had always clicked when I was riding it, now it shifts like a dream), and I know where I am going for all my bike needs from now on. Do yourself a favor... if you need a bike, have a bike, are thinking about bikes... go to Atomic Cycle and have them hook you up. These guys know their stuff. read more

Man, legend, pioneer. The dude abides. Not only does Paul know what he's doing, he has, *shock* a personality. Pretty hard to find a bike mechanic who fits that quota theses days. He repairs bike's in strict chronological order. That means you'll get no special treatment or brown noising if you bring in your 3k Stumphumper or that old Huffy your ex left behind the shed for that matter. Go to Serious Cycling if you want that and be prepared to spend some serious dough for some seriously depressed guys to fix your bike. He's a one man crew and due too recent events is insanely busy. Paul is very nice and laid back. I came in looking for a folding bike, but he said unfortunately he rarely gets those. I got his business card and we just shot the shit for a bit. I believe that his prices are fair for what he offers. Some people might say "For $100 I can get a new bike at Wal Mart!" but like they say, you get what you pay for. I called up the shop yesterday saying I need a commuter bike for 150$. Paul told me to come by. Today I went there and Paul showed sold me a bike for 65$. The fact that Paul isn't going off of how much money I have but an actual price that is ridiculously low shows alot of integrity. I loved the bike but I figured not to buy the first thing I saw so I got in my car. Then I thought about how authentic Paul was and the steal of the deal and got out my car and bought in on the spot without going to any other shops. I will definitely be coming back here. Great experience. Very happy that I found this place. I am new to the Reseda area and needed a good bike shop for simple and reasonably priced repairs. After looking at Yelp reviews for this and other shops nearby, I gave Atomic Cycles a try and am very glad that I did. My bike is very important to me, and bike shops like this one are important to the community. I encourage any bicyclist in the area in need of repairs to support Atomic Cycles. And for those reviewers here that complain that the shop doesn't repair electric bikes, you are simply idiots. Electric "bikes" are no more bicycles than an Impossible burger is a real "hamburger." Call it what you wish, but it ain't what you call it that counts. If I had a bike shop, I wouldn't deal with electric bikes either. It is such a relief to know that there are still people/businesses that have morals and are sincerely professional. Although Paul had his hands full when I got there, he cared enough to take a quick look and fix my own and my sister's bikes. The rubber handles kept slipping off on my bike and the seat was very uncomfortable on my sister's bike, so he changed it. I did buy some bike equipments from him, but I know he would've still had the same level of professionalism if I wouldn't have bought anything else other than the seat. He cuts to the chase too. When I told him I need a comfortable seat for my sister's bike, he gave me the riggt one for us...I then asked for options just to make sure the one he suggested was the best one for us and after seeing all the seats, I went with the one Paul had suggested because it really was the best for us. The grungy owner is good for older cheaper bikes. But, if you ask him for an appt or a time he is usually less busy, he gets downright hostile. If you have a newer or higher tech bike don't go here or if you value your own time don't go here. Even asking him to give you a call when he is less busy is met with scorn and hassle. I have been in the valley for almost 20 years, but it has not been until the last 4 or 5 that I had the need to go to Atomic Cycles. A few years ago we bought my son a good quality used bike from Atomic. Recently my son outgrew his Specialized bike, and is going to use his brothers. This "new" bike was outside a lot, not used much, but exposure to the elements left it in need of some much needed repair. Saturday I brought it to Atomic Bikes, I ended up getting it back in full working order, on Sunday! Paul works insanely fast, despite the fact that he said he was busy. Atomic is run by an ethical owner, Paul, who absolutely is not in business to make excess profit off his customers. He keeps lots of used parts in his shop to make repairs at prices much lower than standard shops. If you are frugal and don't futz about having super high end gear, if you just want your bike to work and be affordable, Atomic is perfect. I dropped in after reading yelp reviews saying Paul is honest and doesn't upsell and it was true. I list my front wheel and had been hearing nightmare stories about how expensive bike parts are due to supply chain issues. Paul hooked me up with a decent used wheel, used tread and new tube for literally 1/5 the cost I was quoted for new stuff. I really appreciate his ethos. read more

My brother recommended me this place at first ,,, the first time i needed some rear hub bearings replaced, work was done excelent,,, second time i went i needed a rear hub replacement,, owner told me that he could not get parts for it and that he could not do the repairs, i even said i was not in a hurry that i would leave the bike,, he pretty much refused to work on it,,, third time i needed a chain replaced because it broke,,, he said he could not get a chain with that many speed because he had to purchase 1k dollars worth of chains!!! Are you serious?? He may have a lot of bussiness or only works on friends bicycles!! Very bad attitude!! I would not recommend this shop unless you have an old chopper or you are friends with the owner. read more

Cool, neighborhood shop. I did my on-line due diligence and in the end brought my old mtn bike to Atomic Cycles for a tune-up. Brake & shifter cables, chain, grips and paint were in serious need of attention after having sat in a garage for many years. I'm a casual rider at best and I'm sure that came as no surprise to Paul after spending just a few minutes speaking with me. He took time to answer all my questions, listened to my thoughts and understood my budget. Nothing but good things to say & super happy with the work he did. First of all, Paul, the owner is a serious cyclist. Secondly, Paul believes everyone should have a bicycle. Thirdly, Paul loves to recycle parts. Don't be intimidated by the wreck of a shop with parts hanging everywhere and bicycles falling over. Breeze past the neighborhood visitors and into this lovely grease-smelling lair. Push that $30 bike, or a $3,000 one into this store for everything from the simplest tiny repair, to custom frame welding: this is a full-service shop. I took a 1988 Peugot in for some parts replacement and modifications. It's hard to find parts for a bike this old, but Paul had me fitted out on the same day. The bill was $51 and both of us were satisfied with the price. If you are looking for a used bike, of any sort, from bargain rustbuckets to pricey rockets, Paul has a nice selection. Be warned: this is a first-come first-served place, and if your bike is number six on the list, you will have to wait like everyone else. But when it is your turn, your bike will have Paul's full attention. read more
