If your legal matters can get in line and move at the pace of a "one-attorney law office" then…read moreyou'll be in good hands. If you have an urgent matter, you're likely to be dismissed by their office staff. Four Pillars is a "one-attorney law office" which is what I was told by the "office manager" when she explained they would not assist me with an updated trust certification document. They charged me and my wife over $3,000 for our trust agreement, but couldn't be bothered to open a document, change the dates, send it to a printer, and bill me. Apparently, Ms. Shovelin was "preparing for a month long vacation" and was not available to help me and my wife. Unfortunately, we needed the document within ten days for the title search so we could to complete the sale of our home. The office manger advised me I could schedule a new consultation in October (she knew we needed the document sooner, so that was dismissive and disingenuous) when Ms. Shovelin would return from her vacation or take a referral to a new attorney. When I asked her if she thought it would be more expensive for me to engage a new attorney than it would be if Four Pillars assisted me, she replied, "yes." Finally (and if you've read this far, thanks for "listening"), when I made the mistake of asking if they had no empathy for a a client in need, the office manager made it very clear that I was not a client. I was a former client. So yeah, no empathy. Contrary to the lack of empathy demonstrated by Four Pillars for a former client in need of assistance, we were referred by a friend to another Wilmington based attorney who understood our situation, her reply to the request was, "I can easily prepare the document for no charge, it will take me ten minutes." If you're looking for a competent and caring attorney, check my reviews for information about the Wilmington lawyer who cared enough to stop in the middle of a Friday to help two strangers.

I would like to recommend Nathaniel H. Cook (Nate) if you ever need a real estate closing attorney…read more We have purchased 11 homes and I have previously worked with closing/real estate attorneys for many years with careers in title insurance and mortgage banking, Nate stands out as a detail oriented, caring, intelligent, responsive and committed attorney. We had issues with our purchase and many unusual issues related to a new home build, Nate went above and beyond to answer our questions and advise us even though it was clear this was not normally part of the process he would need to advise on. I will be sharing his information to refer clients to him at every opportunity as I don't think you will find anyone better to assist you with your home purchase.

Hired them to help with my claim from insurance that was being denied from hurricane…read more The only thing I got from them EVERY month was invoice approximately $1,000 a month. Not once did I receive any paperwork from the conversation they "said" they had with the insurance lawyer Seemed that the only contact was when I did the contact to the lawyer asking what was going on There is no proof he did anything at all After $20,000 to the lawyer NOTHING!!! And because I kept demanding they will no longer represent me because of "respect" I guess the last straw was I wanted to talk to them because they said they can't do anything else My fault for making the appointment to meet but I figured it would just be another $1,000 Bill
