This review…read moreis not based on one occurrence, it's a culmination of multiple trips to and from PHL over the last decade. I only have to come through this cess pool two times a year thankfully. The baggage workers - you can almost guarantee there will be a 30+ minute wait from when you get to the baggage carousel to when you receive your bag. The food vendor workers - the majority are afflicted with nasty, lazy attitudes. There are no water refill stations anywhere, only a couple (2 per 20+ gates) of water fountains that you can only get your mouth under, and the bottles of water sold at each vendor all average around $5 for a measly 20 oz size. Unbelievable. This should actually be illegal - not providing water refill stations. The general consensus is that people who work here seem to hate their jobs and hate people. They're there for a pay check and will do nothing more than the bare minimum to not get fired. It's quite embarrassing.

Depending on which way you go you can get over 8 miles in without having to cross streets. Most of the people on the path are very friendly. When we were here in August 2025, it appeared they are expanding as they had temporary walls up. They introduced new chairs as well which appear that they will have power outlets at some point, but currently, charging options are very limited. It took me approximately 30 minutes to reach my connecting gate. Fifteen minutes into my walk, I saw signs for a shuttle bus, but it was unclear if utilizing it required exiting and going outside. I was fortunate to have a two-hour layover, but for passengers with tighter connections they could easily miss their flights due to these distances. Implementing an internal tram system would greatly improve the ease of connecting between terminals. I most likely will avoid connecting through Philadelphia in the future unless improvements are made to the transit experience.

Gates are identified well, and the walkways are wide enough to accommodate traffic even in the busiest of hours. What I liked best about PHL is the people.
