Warm. Friendly, Busy. Don't mind the #FOTHaters who can't understand the concept of timed admission…read morecrowd control or that entry fees have for 30 years benefited over 50 preservation groups in over a dozen different communities. Historic preservation is hard, highly volunteer-driven, and overlooked, but essential work. Festival of Trees supports those efforts and the fact that's been happening for 30 years, in itself, a rare accomplishment for any organization. Having attended for a few years, I can confirm that the space can get *really* busy of weekends or busier weeknights, with lines of TreeGawkers snapping more photos than the latest People Magazine British royal family paparazzi expose. ProTip®: stay in your lane, surf the wave of bodies pushing past the trees, and, for the love of God, do not try and jump out of a middle row line and "swim upstream" against the river of humans moving like an iceberg in the other direction. Lane-hopping at the FoT is the functional equivalent of jumping out of your car at 75mph on I-93 at rush hour... or since we're all Bostonians here, abandoned your 15mph commute over the Zakim because you noticed Boston Sand & Gravel's First and Finest dump trucks transporting 5 tons of gravel faster than your evening commute. Crowd surfing aside, trees are consistently unique and varied, with occasional Santa Sighting Photo Shoots available for any smaller human beings in your entourage. Don't miss the opportunity to spread your ticketing cheer around to favorite trees. Having won a tree in the past, there's always an option to donate it back to an area family or organization that could make better use of it than you. "So I won the Provident Insurance Tree with a $5 scratch ticket? Please donate." As you'll see in the photos, one area that's confusing is the lack of any food or drink in the space. Given all the festive music and trees, it would be great to have an opportunity to sip some warm cocoa or coffee while milling about the event. Call it the holiday effect, but if you're hearing Frank Sinatra or Mariah Carey 3x in an hour without a warm beverage in your hand something's amiss in the universe.

All the lights were on outside but couldn't see the beauty of the lite exhibits. The train exhibit was in a tiny room, couldn't get in, about 10 people at a time and there were at least 100 people wanting to see the exhibit...bad during the pandemic. Tree exhibit were just ok. They did have a sale of marshmallows and Graham crackers to make smoores outside which I found to be fun.
