I really liked the food but the music was really loud with a mediocre ambience. The best dish was clams with coconut flatbread (ordered separately). The clams were very tender with an excellent balance of flavor in the sauce to take away the briny-ness of the clams and enhance the delicate flavor of the clams. The flatbread had an exquisitely soft and fluffy texture. This duo combo was a winning combination. Get the old cuban to start. I was excited to try the orange wine but it was $150/bottle (probably 3 times the price in the US). So we opted for a chardonnay from California which was quite delicious (vs the unbearably buttery taste of a lot of the other napa chardonnay). So I went back and forth between giving this three or four stars and opted for four even though I feel like my experience deserves a three-star review. However, I am doing that because I sincerely believe that I went on an off night that was not representative of how the place operates during normal conditions. I could be wrong. Buyer beware. 1) Ambiance - it was lovely. More casual than Atila. (For those of you from Chicago- this is the Roister to Arca's Alinea) 2) The drinks - this was just a colossal miss. I loved the drink program at Arca and expected it to be similar here, but it simply was not. They were doing some special promotional event with a liquor distributor and had a touring bartender in. The drink quality was deficient... it tasted like stuff you'd get at any Big 10 frat house on a Friday night. Something you'd make in a big pitcher. They are supposed to be a wine bar, and I probably should have just leaned into the natural wine program they are known for. 3) The food - get the pork belly sando; it was the best thing I had on the menu. The ribeye was good but wasn't exceptional (the fries were great), and the avocado flatbread was delicious. 4) Service - another area that was a huge miss. Our server was rarely around. The food runners/bussers did most of the work (including giving us the check at the end of the night). The head chef was doing a photo shoot, which added to the "off-night" approach to the evening. We had heard about Atila but had already booked our restaurants for the week Well after eating at Arca (hands down the best in tulum) we decided to cancel one of our resos and come here. So glad we did because we loved it. The food was all excellent. Our favorite was the shrimp and the sauce it was on .. ordered the bread just to clean the plate. However, the staff is really what we loved. We actually had similar experiences at Arca. One of our waiters, I believe Jonathan, would explain the dishes with so much passion like he truly believed it was the best thing on earth. He should have his own show. The Somm got us set up with some orange wine which we never had but I will be looking out for it. He explained everything in great detail and at the end of the night greeted me like a long time friend to say goodbye and see you soon with a big handshake and half hug. I would suggest this place highly for the wine and food the staff adds to it We also came on an acoustic live music night which was great! read more

We loved Atila! So shocked that the ratings are so low? We're huge fans of natural wine and we were so surprised they had such a big selection! We were in heaven. Fabio the somm was took such great care of us. He walked us into the wine room and let us taste wines to help us select the best bottle according to our profile. The food was delicious and it was the best way to kick off our weekend in Tulum! Atila is the sister company of Arca, another definite must try! After falling in love with Arca, we knew when Atila opened it would be a must be dinner destination. The staff is incredibly attentive, the food is creative and of the upmost quality ( not to mention beautifully plated), and the cocktails!!! Oh my, the cocktails. This restaurant covers all bases from the spacial design to service to food/beverage. If you aren't waiting in line for the dinner bell when they open, you seriously should be. Okay. So. I have been to the top fifteen ranked restaurants in Tulum. I'm a Manhattan boy who's lived in LA for 17 years and I have to say just wow. Why wife and I are foodies and picky eaters. We went here after their sister restaurant Arca was to busy and it felt like divine intervention. Not only is the food outstanding and the atmosphere calm amd upscale, but the service was on a level we weren't expecting. The owner and leader of our meal Bianca ("Bi" for her friends who we quickly became) told us exactly what to get and held our hands into one of the best birthday meals I have had in many many moons. I wasn't planning on returning to Tulum anytime soon but perhaps I will reconsider now that we've found Atila. Thank you Bi! read more

We were super excited about this place after hearing it's the same chef as Arca. We ordered three dishes. The tomato dish was basically a slice of tomato in balsamic vinegar, we wanted to order the mushroom flat bread but the waiter said we should really get the regular flat bread which was good. The sardine dish was unavailable but they recommended getting it with shrimp instead (three shrimp, clearly frozen). All that + four glasses of wine costs $130 USD!! On top of that while the waiter was swiping the card he asked "how was the service?" to which we answered "great". Apparently that was enough for him to charge us 25% tip which he added himself to the bill without asking. If it wasn't clear by now - stay away! Over priced tourist trap with below average food and a sketchy staff. read more

AVOID. Well, we had a great server but otherwise it's highway robbery. $187USD for 7 glasses of wine and one order of clams. Why one order? Because none of the other dishes were edible. They refused to cook my friends burger to her specs, which she waited 15 long minutes for after the clams arrived. The clams were very good, but nothing else. Side of romanesco was raw inside - charred on the outside in a muddy sauce. They claimed to take the dishes off our bill - but robbed us anyway. Tourist trap at its finest. read more

We stumbled upon this restaurant after our reservations were cancelled at Arca and they told us to try Atila. I am SO glad we did! It was probably my favorite place I ate in Tulum and we ate a lot of places. Not only was the food was amazing but the service was excellent! I never leave reviews but I had to for this restaurant! Oh and I have certain food allergies and they even had the most amazing vegan, gluten free dessert I could have! Such an added bonus! read more

What an amazing experience. The service was perfect. The food was excellent. We had the short rib (make sure to order coconut bread to sop up the gravy) and the lobster pizza to start. Next we had the lechon. We finished with both deserts. Ask for the sommelier - he was a master and recommending wines within our budget. Will definitely be back. read more

A lovey experience. As a natural wine lover I was really impressed with the wine list here and the service was exceptional. The food exceeded my expectations with house made charcuterie, the crudo, pork sandwich are all highly recommended. Would dine again! Only note is that waiters wear these plastic half masks, not full masks, so if you're COVID conscious I'd think about your comfort in that. read more
