Unfortunately, I regret to have to write my opinion regarding the billing practices of Ivy Rehab…read more Ivy Rehab does not seem to use ethical billing practices and they also seem to omit billed insurance charges on their invoice statements (patient does not receive important procedure codes). They seem to use a "productivity model" which pushes unethical or questionable billing of multiple billing units per session. For a 45 minute session my insurance was billed for 7 total units, and after speaking with my insurance company the units were billed for procedures that didn't take place. I also had to call my insurance company to figure out what was billed since my statement has no medical procedure codes or units indicated. Medicaid standards indicate an 8 minute rule of billing. This is a standard set for all PT practices. What happens when billing is done as a productivity model and the patient is not informed of what is being completed ("overbilling") is the patient gets billed for an excessive amount per session, such as 250.00 dollars for a 45 minute session. Vulnerable populations can end up in debt from medical bills, and medical bills are the number one reason people end up in bankruptcy. What appears to be happening at Ivy Rehab is that if the therapist puts their hands on you (ie touches you briefly during an exercise which is CPT code 97530), they then bill a manual therapy code. This is certainly what happened to me, I was billed for multiple codes but received therapeutic exercise (97530). Additionally my statement indicated "Therapy Visit" in lieu of medical procedure codes (see attached photo). In my experience at major hospitals and reputable doctors' offices, procedure codes and units are indicated on invoice statements. I contacted management at Ivy Rehab to discuss the billing practices (administration) and my bill and was informed I would be responsible for "services rendered" and that alternatively I could apply for a payment plan. I find this ironic since one of Ivy Rehab's motto is "Do the right thing." Additionally, since Ivy Rehab does not indicate procedure codes on invoice/statement (no units and no CPT codes), most patients are unaware that these practices are taking place. It is with utmost disappointment that I write this review. I disagree with all the above practices and increased financial demand this practice places onto vulnerable patients. He's be telling him to get more business, which doctors to call, etc. Then I got hurt when my therapist stretched my shoulder. I couldn't do any exercises for 6 weeks, had to get an MRI (shoulder was badly inflamed) and a cortisone injection. I never went back. Then I was billed the final payment of $28.14. After speaking with several people at Ivy they insisted even though I was hurt and had additional medical expenses, I had to pay the balance. I paid it. Now 3 months later I received the same bill! Horrible company, horrible record keeping. Stay away from Ivy Rehab! You are better off finding the exercises and doing them at home.

It's obvious that they are invested in your recovery. The accommodations are incredible-if you can't do the exercise because of pain, inability to do it or you can't "find the muscle", they will keep findIng work arounds until something works and works well. They go above and beyond each and every visit. There was one visit where I was exhausted and they played my favorite songs to help pep me up (and it worked)! There are so many examples of these little touches that make Team Rehab special. I cannot recommend them enough!
