I'm really conflicted about this review. I booked a round trip from the airport. In each case, the driver was great. The pickup for the return was really early (4:15 AM, in the country), and the driver made a point of arriving early to be sure he could find it. I really could not ask for anything more from the driver.
Despite that, the way the company does advance bookings is completely unprofessional. I hired them from Greeville-Spartanburg Airport which has unwisely decided to make Atchison their official transportation partner. Atchison really needs to change their booking practices to match the professionalism of their drivers.
The key things to know:
1) Going through on-line reservation is absolutely meaningless. You don't need to do it, and getting your confirmation, even if you pay in advance, provides absolutely no value. You end up waiting for a car, first come first served. If you make no reservation, and just show up and ask for a car, on the spot, you are given the same price and put in the same queue. You are, quite literally, paying for nothing by reserving a ride.
2) If you ask about this strange practice, you will be told that you could jump the queue by paying an extra fee. If you were not told about this "opportunity" when making the original reservation, you are SOL. Whoops!
3) You will be asked, again and again, if you would like to pre-pay a gratuity. This is the most consistent practice of the company. As I mentioned, the drivers (at least the two drivers I had) were great. I tipped them both well, but there's no way I would offer an early gratuity through such a racket a of a booking operation. read more
