History

Established in 1876.

AT&T has been in the technology business since--well, since the invention of the telephone in 1876. Ever since then, we've grown our company and found new ways to connect people to what they love. Along the way, we've invented or pioneered the use of all kinds of technologies: rotary phones, TV, mobile phones, transistors, transatlantic and transpacific cables, communication satellites, touchtone service, the 911 emergency number, the Unix programming language, fiber optic networks, VoIP service, and more. Today, we're a world leader in communications, media and entertainment, and technology. Now that we've acquired both DIRECTV and Time Warner, we're building a truly modern media company that will create the best entertainment and communications experiences in the world.

They would need to see the battery. I told them I could tell the battery type over the phone but they insisted that they would need to see it in person. This didn't make sense but I drove to their store to check anyway. I walked in and told them the battery I needed, as I had on the phone... and they immediately told me that they had them in stock without looking and told me the price...which was almost 3 times price listed online.
